MY REVIEW: I love this place. Jay and Sherri are the greatest. I had never eaten Sushi before eating here and now I am weekly connoisseur (more if possible). The fish is fresh; the rolls are the best I have ever eaten, better than similar restaurants in Calif. I wish there was a Tokyo Bowl in every city in the US so when I go out of town, I can eat there. Thanks for all you do to make your food the best ever.

MY REVIEW: I have heard a lot about Tokyo Bowl and decided to make a trip out to try it. I have to say, I was quite impressed. The fish was incredibly fresh, huge pieces, and great prices. It was truly a great sushi experience. Despite some reviews the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. I got a good vibe from everybody around and always had a full drink. This was my first time there and definitely not my last. I plan to head back and take on the rest of the menu, so many good things to choose from. Sushi C*oast, The Japanese S*teak House and others in Clear Lake don’t even compare. I'd say it is definitely worth the visit. You must grab a piece of peppered salmon and hot escolar (super white tuna). PHENOMINAL!!!

MY REVIEW: To me this is the best restaurant in houston. In fact when I go out of town most sushi restaurants fall short, including ones in the West Coast. Jay is a master and the fish is fresh and his hotsauce brings out the taste and gives a few rolls Southwestern flavor, like Cici roll. Sometimes the service is slow, but I made a monumental mistake of trying two other sushi restaurants in the Bay Area and they were sorry. A must eat at place. Flavor explodes in your mouth.

MY REVIEW: The sushi here is excellent. If you read a review about this place and it says that downtown Houston has better fish you should take it with a grain of salt. Many people do not know what quality fish takes like. The fish here is fresh and is prepared well. The temperature it is served is perfect. My wife and I eat sushi regularly and would not go anywhere else. The service can be slow, but quality fish takes time to prepare. The only compliant I have is that they have increased the size of the restraunt. It had a more natural Japanese feel when it was smaller and cramped.

MY REVIEW: Really good sushi but the place has the ambiance of an old D*enny's. Ambiance in a sushi place is extremely important to me.... Waitstaff (at least our server) was polite and efficient.
Will I be back? Maybe......

MY REVIEW: Tokyo Bowl at Space Center Blvd is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant! I have been to many a Japanese restaurants and this one gets the gold star! Compared to other Houston area spots like K*ubo's,A*zuma, Sushi K*ing, and in Clear Lake area- M*asa Sushi, Sushi C*oast, S*amarai Sushi, and many others I've tried, Tokyo Bowl has the freshest sushi at the perfect temperature.
Try the Sakura roll, Crunch roll, or any of the sushi/sashimi pieces. Recently renovated and expanded, it's still not a big restaurant which is fine with me because this is a family owned restaurant that keeps the quality of the food above all else, which is what you want when you go for sushi. I do recommend going there at an "off" time because it gets pretty crouded around the busier lunch and dinner hours.

MY REVIEW: Bah! All these reviews about how great the food was. Nah. The food was good, but absolutely nothing to rave over. As many others said, we were treated like cattle. Invisible cattle, to boot. I doubt I will bother making the trip again. Although $40 is not bad to pay for an allright meal, adding crappy service, slippery floors and a wait for water, makes it totally unacceptable.

MY REVIEW: I had been told how great this place was so I finally took the drive out there. It was fresh. The service was lousy just like all the reviews told us it would. I felt that we were being ignored. No one came and asked if we were alright .. things ok .. nothing, Just seemed like they were trying to herd people in and out quickly.. We never got the bill either. Had to go to the front and get the girl to find our waiter and find it. It was no bells no whistles.. really no speciality .. nothing too exciting .. just sushi.
Would I go back again? Well I would save the gas and go down on Bay Area to Sushi C*oast. The service is alot better and less a hole in the wall..

MY REVIEW: I have been coming here for awhile now and would stop by mostly lunch after school around 1PM. The food is delicious. I would recommend the crunch roll. It's seriously the best crunch I've ever had compared to other Houston area sushi restaurants. The quality is very good and the waitstaff are quick to seat you. The only bad thing is that takes a while for the food to be prepared and to come out(appetizer came out the same time my entree did).
Seating used to be a problem with the space being limited but they recently expanded over so there is much more seating and more space between each table so that is a plus. Go to Tokyo Bowl if you want to satisfy your stomach and not have to pay over the top price for sushi! Definately a great hole in the wall restaurant that I would recommend.

MY REVIEW: This place is great! My friends and I went there and loved everything we had. It reminds me of a sushi bar in L.A. Dark, small and strictly about good fresh fish expertly prepared. One of my friends who was with us lived in Japan for five years and he agreed it was some of the best sushi he ever had in the states.

MY REVIEW: I have eaten sushi all over Houston as well as the US, Candada, UK, Germany, and Paris; there is nothing to compare to Tokyo Bowl. We eat there at least once a week. It is simply the best! If you are wanting to ease in to sushi start with Kabuki, it has shrimp tempura inside with raw tuna. That will get you hooked. Don't let non sushi eaters keep you away, there is plenty on the menu for all. Go to Toyko Bowl, you won't be sorry.

MY REVIEW: I agree with John but don't know about mackerel. Might try sometime. If you want "real deal" you have to go where the Japanese people in Houston eat. I eat all over and have only seen Japanese diners in S*asaki on Westheimer (BTW this place is real Japanese owned and the old chef guy is from Japan) and K*ubo's in Rice Village. Real Japanese there and once you eat there at the sushi bar you will know the difference. I have been before. BUT! Tokyo bowl is great for Pearland. Good food and good service without the hassle of driving downtown. GO Tokyo Bowl!

MY REVIEW: I've been both by myself and with groups, and none of us have ever had bad service. The fish quality has always been pretty good, but I have never had their mackerel, which is one of many true tests of sushi chef skill. Good mackerel (saba) done right tastes like yellowtail. So like I say, not sure what Tokyo Bowl does. Ask the chefs for it and I bet they'll make it. I have gotten to eat some pretty good food around the world. But please do not confuse Tokyo Bowl with "the real deal" and "traditional" and "the best in town". You wouldn't call O*live Garden "traditional Italian" or T*aco Bell "traditional Mexican" would you? Rolls are for suckers. We Texans should "cowboy up" and try the more traditional stuff on their menu and leave the Yum Yum Happy Crunch Shaggy Dog Rainbow Magic Delight Madness rolls for the suckers.

MY REVIEW: I go here at least once a week. I have tried the other sushi places in the Clear Lake area and a lot in Houston proper, but this is by far the best. Orders of magnitude better than the closest competitors. Make sure to try one of the specialty rolls like Oscar or Cici. Yum yum! I have heard from people who have lived and traveled in Japan that this place is the closest they've ever found to the "real deal" in Houston.
A few words of advice: The dining area is extremely small and people eat close together, I try not to go with a large group during peak meal times because getting a table for large groups is difficult.

MY REVIEW: This is a small hole-in-the-wall sushi house in a shopping center on Bay Area Blvd. I ate here for lunch one day and was sold on the first bite.
Strong Points : The quality of the fish is excellent. The head chef is friendly, has cooked in several major US cities, and knows how to take care of the people that like sushi. The sashimi is highly recommended. Wow.
Weak Points : Service is like a european restaurant. You will order food/drinks, and then be ignored for a while. Deal with it. If the restaurant is busy, do not order grilled/teriyaki items. They serve their sushi customers first. (And seriously, you should come here for the sushi. The grilled stuff is pretty good, but you can find comparable teriyaki in the area. Go there instead.)
Specialties : Anything made with raw fish. Crunchy roll, Texas roll, and eel/avocado rolls are so good. Possibly the best sashimi I have had.
Entrees : Teriyaki scallop/shrimp is pretty good. Nothing too special, tho.
Ambiance : Small room, approximately 12 2-top seats and short sushi bar. Be prepared to sit next to strangers. At least they are usually Texas-friendly. I recently sat by a guy at the sushi bar who comes in from downtown because he thinks it is the best sushi in town.
I eat here at least once a month since it's around the corner from my home. It is one of the best sushi houses that I have visited, and love to be surprised by the chef. Definitely recommended. They have sold the Pearland location, so I won't recommend going there.

MY REVIEW: The BEST sushi in all of Houston. I've been going to this place since i was 16. The same chef helps me almost every time, as i always sit at the bar. The atmosphere is very authentic, (crowded, noisy at times, no fishy smell) and the food is delicious. Try the house salad, because their fresh made salad dressing is to die for. Ive tried almost everything they have, and as of late have been settling for my favorites, Hana and Haru rolls, Lingo and salmon skin rolls... actualy if i list my favorites this page will go on too long. just go. now. (though they aren't open on sundays or mondays.)

MY REVIEW: I lived by the galleria and have been to EVERY sushi place known to the Houston area. I can honestly say that Tokyo Bowl is the best sushi my husband and I have ever put in our mouth! The tables are close but the patrons are very friendly and we have always enjoyed small talk with our neighbors. The super white tuna is to die for as well as their yellow tail. They import their fish regularly which sets them clearly apart from any other place I have ever been. The CC roll is also a favorite as is the dynamite miso salmon! If you like sushi you will LOVE Tokyo Bowl!

MY REVIEW: We are Asian who dine on Sushi not only for the taste but also for the soul. Needless to say, we have tried sushi around the world (at least at every city we have visited) but in the end, nothing is fresher, tastier; no service is faster than the one from our backyard: Tokyo Bowl in Clear Lake. Jay, the owner, is extremely attentive and friendly. He knows your face, your name, your choices.
When is second restaurant in Pearland is opened, we were one of the the first who came to cheer on our favorite team. This place is much bigger. There are MANY (too many) young, laid-back (better words for lazy) and inexperience waitstaffs there (I truly believe they only need 5 extremely good ones like those in Clear Lake to clear out the space). Some of the rolls are a little different than Jay's Clearlake (I especially missed the salmon skin roll whereas the skin is extremely crunchy, it melted in your mouth) but overall, the quality is still good, the fishes are fresh.
There are 3 sushi restaurants in Pearland now, and, it would be an insult to even compare Tokyo Bowl to the other 2. Not only it is better, it is better than most sushi places in Houston. Saying that, I hope to see more experienced staff and less in number. I hope to taste the original sushi roll that Jay has created.
We are "frequent flyer" there...once, even twice a week, not only for the taste but also the soul.

MY REVIEW: If you are in a hurry don't go here at peak meal times, this is NOT fast food! The quality and freshness of the fish is excellent, the rolls are unique and delicious, and service is good.
You can pay more for less quality if you would rather "be seen" somewhere else, but if you are looking for great sushi, this is the place.

MY REVIEW: i used to think it was not open b/c of the black windows and the small crowd of cars. today i went there based on some recommendations, and i have to say it was pretty good. 7/10 from me.
i had the tempura + teryaki combo with salad, while my brother had salmon teryaki combo with soup the salad was a disappointment, it was just a bunch of cabbage with a sweet ginger sauce, not even supermarket quality. the soup was good though the chicken teryaki is delicious, however the salmon teryaki portion is way too small. 2 one inch cubes... the tenpura is exquisite. i loved the pumpkin and shrimp tenpura.

MY REVIEW: Hands down, one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a dining establishment. The waitstaff is unattentive, and it took over an hour for just part of my order of sushi to come out. When I spoke with management to voice my opionion, I was pretty much ignored. Go here if you want to eat hot sushi with mean looking faces everywhere. Rating 0/10

MY REVIEW: My husband and I went to Tokyo Bowl for the first time and it was a horrible experience. The wait staff were rude and service was terrible. Also, I don't like eating elbow to elbow with strangers. Apparently, we are in the minority as this place was packed. We didn't order sushi so it took forever to get our food. We watched as people came and went and tables filled and emptied again before our food finally came. When we got our food, the steamed brocoli was cold. The portions were very small for the price and we left hungry. I had to ask the waitress twice for our bill before we finally got it. I've since talked with friends and they said they waited over an hour for their food. If you don't order sushi, don't go. We will never go back!!!
