Little Pappasito's Cantina
2536 Richmond Ave, Houston, Texas 77098
MY REVIEW: The food is quite good here, but I think I've made my last visit there.
1) The restaraunt is way too crowded. There are too many tables and there is not enough room between them.
2) The service varies. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Last visit sSome in our party didn't get their food for 10 minutes after it started arriving and two of the orders were wrong.
3) The parking situation is unacceptable. Their lot is almost always full or near full. There are plenty of spaces in the lot next door, but the security guard there informed me he would have my car towed if I parked in it (not real neighborly). I don't care where you eat, you should not spend 10-15 minutes trying to park. This isn't the only Upper Kirby establishment with this problem (which is why I refuse to live or do much business in that part of town - - how can you put in a business or residence but not enough places for people to park??).

MY REVIEW: We will not return. Too many better options close by.
My wife and I split a fajita platter for 2 and ordered 2 margaritas and it ended up being $50 with the tip but that's not the problem. The problem was that easily 20% of the meat (mixed beef and chicken) was fat and and skin. Tortillas were room temperature, sides were too modest, order came out wrong etc etc.
It was just an unacceptable Mexican meal which was just compounded by the fact that much higher quality offerings are close by at G*oode Co, C*huy's, M*olina's etc.
I respect the Pappas family for their success in the restaurant business but the food here was unacceptable and won't warrant a return by us.

MY REVIEW: We often dine at the Pappasito's on Richmond @ Kirby. It is our favorite restaurant for fajitas. We have always found their service and food to be outstanding. However, it was exceptional after a mishap in the dining room last Sunday.
One of the waitstaff was carrying a large tray with many dishes when a plate of guacamole slid off and spilled onto a chair at our table. Fortunately I was not sitting in the chair; unfortunately my purse was. Guacamole covered one side of the purse. The young man was very quick to accept responsibility, to apologize and to offer restitution, as well and bring the necessary cleaning supplies.
Soon one of the managers came to our table again apologizing and offering to comp my portion of the meal, which was more than adequate compensation for a purse that can be cleaned.
When the check came, we were absolutely amazed to see that our total tab was only $.01! If we were not already dedicated customers, we would be now!

MY REVIEW: A very, very busy restauarant packed with people and noise. Go to a less popular restaurant if you would like to relax while you eat your meal. Little Pappasito's has been one of Houston's most popular restaurants for years. I love the excitement and the atmosphere when I eat there.

MY REVIEW: This place is our oasis. The starter chips and salsa are always devoured before, during, and after our entres are served. The ceviche is excellent, I like their addition of avocado. The beef enchilada is smothered with a well balanced combination of red chile, green chile, and cheese. The rice and beans are alright. The flautas are also a recommendation of mine. It's corn tortilla is just right. Service was friendly.

MY REVIEW: Wow. You people need to get out of Texas a little more. The place is NOT expensive. And so what if a margarita is $10.50. That's CHEAP compared to other metropolitan areas. I'm used to paying 9 bucks for a bottle beer!

MY REVIEW: This place has really gone down hill. The last few times I have visited the service has been HORRIBLE. Waiters who disappear. Who drop your food off and say nothing about your empty chip basket, glass, salsa bowl, but then disappear before you can ask for them to fill them. Also the waitstaff has gotten bad or maybe the proper term is good at not making eye contact. I can expect this type of service at a cheap taqueria but not when I am paying 2 -3 times more for my food than you average Tex-mex resturant.
Cons:
They sit everyone TOO CLOSE TOGETHER like cattle. Its always nice to feel like you are in the middle of your neighbors profanity filled conversation.
Bad Service
Menu prices when up AGAIN!
The food is good but it aint that good.

MY REVIEW: First, let me say that for the most enjoyable Pappasito's experience, I will only go the the "Little Pappasitos" on Richmond. Although I live within 3 miles of the Katy Freeway/Beltway 8 location, I resolved years ago to never return there. It's football size dining hall and a noise level that makes even raised voice conversations impossible brought me to that point.
As for the food at Little Pappasitos, my only real rub is the extra charge for cheese/sour cream they tack on to an already "proud" price.
Overall, I love their fajitas and sure would like to know the marinate recipe for my at home poolside fiestas.

MY REVIEW: I had to comment on some of the other reviews that I saw posted: there are no margaritas on the menu that cost $10.50, and the tortillas that the fajitas are served on are made from scratch!!! This is the best location of all the Pappasito's restaurants because it always feels like "the place to be" on the weekends. The servers are friendly and the food is excellent, and when you consider that it is all made from scratch in house daily, then it is not really overpriced.

MY REVIEW: I must say that I visit this particular restaurant often. I came in with a party of 16 and had somewhat of a wait about 30minutes, not bad for a busy night. Well the restaurant manager was tring to figure out where to set us up. I noticed another waitor tell him that we could fit in his section if we arranged some tables. Well, I was happy to see that it was "Our" waitor, Saul that took excellent care of us as we prepared for our dinner. His persona and great attitude made our night the best. The food came on time and he followed up and let us know what was going on every time he could. I have NEVER seen someone so organized like Saul was when he was taking care of us. As the food came out to our table he took full control and just delegated where everything went. My guests and my Dr. that was with me as one of my guests, was impressed with Saul's way of handling 16 chatty people. Thank you for the fantastic service. I would love to have service like Saul's everywhere!

MY REVIEW: Pappasitos is my ultimate fav Mexican Food. They have the best chips & salsa in my opinion! I love the salsa served warm. They have added some new combo plates to the menu & they are so good & lots of food! The cheese enchiladas with sour cream sauce(no gravy) are what i get almost everytime but i have never gotten a bad meal there. They are a little pricey depending on what you get. The tortilla soup is also good. I love the "patio" area at this location. Very comfortable atmosphere.
This is the best Tex-Mex in Houston I think!!
