MY REVIEW: Andy's has always been around since I can remember. I have always loved their food their but sorry to say the service has been slacking. The last time we went was on a Saturday morning and yes it was a week after the HURRICANE IKE but the service was HORRIBLE. We had to wait 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order and then we never got a refill. We had to get up to go and ask for one. We ordered the enchiladas and I ordered regular chicken and I got fajita beef. I didn't complain either because it would of taking another 20 minutes to get another order. The food was warm not HOT either. I will give them one more chance but if the service does not get better they will be losing alot of customers.

MY REVIEW: Andy's Cafe has been around for 31 years and you can find all types of people in all of the hours ranging from the local Heights locals, bands, and especially the regular night owl clients that come in after the bottle at the local bars. Some of the staff has been there for years but most of them are friendly. I enjoy eating the enchilladas! They are GREAT! And I also love the breakfast tacos! They are a good size, I only need one to fill me up! Two if Im starving lol. It is still ran by the Morales family since 1977 ... wow! And if you go by pretty early you can catch "the godmother" lol she is the owner, wife of jesse. Overall I think the food is good with great prices you cant beat any where in the Heights.

MY REVIEW: Andy's may be just the ticket at 3 a.m., but for dinner at 8 it's terrible. We both had combination plates that were bland and flavorless except for the chili powder which was overused on everything. For example, cheese enchiladas with hardly any cheese in them. Refried beans from a can. Food came about 2 minutes after ordering and tasted like it had been sitting in a steam table for a while. No atmosphere to speak of; our server's exasperated attitude didn't help. I guess they don't expect many customers outside of late night, but I won't be back, no matter what time it is.

MY REVIEW: Andy's is my secret to beating a hangover, or the end of a night out on the town. It's in my top five favorite restaurants in Houston. It's old school Tex-Mex, nothing fancy about it, just awesome food. I recommend the #6. Breakfast lunch and dinner is fast and cheap. Also it's in a great Heights neighborhood, worth cruising around to check out the old bungalows. Enjoy!

MY REVIEW: My brother and I had just left from putting my father in hospice (he has since passed) and had not eaten for about 20 hours. we needed "comfort" food and of course chose Andy's. I have eaten there since attending junior high school across the street in the late sixties/early seventies when we called it the home cafe. I had Columbian enchiladas and they were as great as ever!! two cheese enchiladas swimming in salsa and topped with a fried egg. baby brother had chorizo and eggs and loved it. Andy's is such a casual place ; we sat and talked for a couple of hours uninterupted except for an occasional refill of our drinks. being open twenty four hours coupled with the relaxed atmosphere make this a special place. the decor looks more like some a lowriders party room than a restaurant and that's just fine with me. Long live Andy's

MY REVIEW: We had breakfast, Sunday morning around 10 am. Place wasn't packed so that kind of worried me a little. My husband ordered pancakes and I ordered two breakfast burritos. Our total bill with coffee was less than $8.00.
I found the breakfast burritos to be very good, better than those I have had at La M*exicana. My husband liked the pancakes very much also but they looked to me to be a bit thin. You might want to add a side order if you order pancakes (only two thin ones but price less than $3.00).
The ambience was out of the "fifties" which we liked. Glad the juke box wasn't blaring, don't know about that. That could spoil things if it is too loud or has music we don't like. We will definitely be back so we might have to find out about that part.
Definitely recommend if you like a modest ambience and tasty though a bit unoriginal food at a very reasonable price. Service was good. The cashier seemed inexperienced, maybe in training still. Oh well.

MY REVIEW: Descent food for the price. The french fries are so undercooked....love the old fashioned jukebox. Music selection could be better. For those late night outings where everyone else is closed, Andy's fit the bill. The cash register person could use some customer service skills though, rude and unappreciative.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE ANDY'S!!! these people are the best...forget about over-priced spanish f*lower....(rolls Eyes)....andy's is homey..yeah...the place is old...but thats whats so great about it. its like one of those lil' taco places you go to that are only open in the morinin till about noon...except this place is 24-hrs. i love their enchiladas and their burritos are omg great...and hey, if you don't like the red salsa, then don't eat it..its that simple...all places have their little deffects..theirs is the red salsa...big deal..you're going there to eat...not to hogg the salsa!

MY REVIEW: After reading the reviews which seemed to fall clearly on 1 side or the other, I decided to visit Andy's Cafe, since it was relatively local to me.
Quality of food: It is what I expected, in that it was decent but not original. After all, they are billed as Tex-Mex. The food was tasty, hot and enjoyable.
Chips & Salsa: The reviews were right, the salsa is watery. But the green salsa is among the spiciest I've had in Houston without asking specifically for extra hot salsa! I liked the green salsa. The chips were very good. They were thin, crunchy and warm!
Cost: VERY reasonable. I thought the entrees were well priced for what you got, basically $6 to $7 for an entree with rice and beans. This is probably the reason I'll come back again, they are cheap, local and good eating.
Service: No problems with service. Of course I didn't go in expecting a waiter in a tuxedo, but for what I'm paying for, I had absolutely no problems. Food arrived, drinks were refilled, check was delivered, what more could you ask for?
Summary: Their menu is not as wide ranging as S*panish Flowers (a competing, local 24 hour mexican restaurant) but then neither are their prices. You can expect to walk out of Andy's for $10 after paying for your entree, drink and tip. Spanish Flowers will add a few more dollars to that. I'll definitely make it an option for one of my late night stops, as they are open 24 hours.

MY REVIEW: Was really good when Jesse AND his wife ran the place. The kids have run this into the ground.
Overall quality of food, service, and attitude is poor. Had to practically beg for tortillas. Cold, soggy, tortillas. I won't ever go back.

MY REVIEW: Andy's should be a "historical food site"!! Great breakfast - can be kicked up a notch (or two) with your request for more "chilies"..., Wonderful staff - they will customize your order in any way - just be patient when they get crowded... Coffee is real and mean, and will wake you up!!! Excellent tea as well... Specials are usually on target, Bistec ala Mexicana is always a favorite... Red salsa is really a soup and we treat it that way... Green salsa is excellent and can knock you around... Juke box is great, but unfortunately they turn it down around 6am... The other 24hr places (like SF) just do not have the same home atmosphere as Andy's... This place is old, has an old-home atmosphere, and it's clean enough (especially considering the age of the building...) We just hope the regulars and interests from new customers will help Andy's survive B*erryHill's new arrival to the Heights...

MY REVIEW: Easy to find, no long waits and bottom line prices for the food, however it's nothing to write home about. You get what you pay for. Watered down salsa, less than pleasing service. The review about the other joint in the area open 24 hrs has no clue to good food. That place is not better. Better off going down the street to W*hataburger.

MY REVIEW: Do not go to Andy's unless you like watery salsa, stale tortillas and chips, and poorly executed texmex dishes. Do yourself a favor and go to the other late night texmex restaurant in the Heights where they are open all night, the food is ten times better, and the prices are just a hair higher.

MY REVIEW: Enchiladas are good, and some of the best breakfast tacos around. Everybody I bring here, admittedly late at night, raves about them and swears off W*hataburger taquitos. Good value, too, I always walk out full for under $5.

MY REVIEW: It's OK every now and then. Red salsa is weak, but edible. Green salsa tastes very sour sometimes - bad tomatillos. Go for the enchiladas. Tacos, fajitas are not that great. But then again, they do fill up the partygoer at 4am.

MY REVIEW: I love Andy's. I virtually always do the Bistec ala Mexicana - the main thing I like is that the french fries are made from real fresh potatoes, not frozen precuts, and the tortillas are fresh any hour of the day or night. The salsa is runny and decorates most of my shirt fronts. Lemonade is good. The jukebox is great.
As for breakfast, it's all good, just don't order the coffee, which sucks. They'll substitute some nice breakfast potatoes for the beans if you ask.

MY REVIEW: Hours: 24 Hours
Brief Description: Andy's has been around forever. Always an extremely popular hang out for Hispanics, musicians, and Heights people, it is open 24 hours a day.
Andy's is famous for its cheese enchiladas which come covered in yellow cheese and a chili gravy, but also features Tex-Mex plates with rice and beans, caldos and menudos, burritos with carne guisada, etc. Prices are in the $5.00 to $6.00 range.
I recently made a trip back here, after years of avoiding the place due to a perception on my part of its cleanliness. It's a little bit cleaner these days.
This is your basic Tex-Mex, and pretty average, in my opinion. Food is a little on the mild side as well. However, it is always full, so most people must like it, even though I can't get excited about anything they serve.
