MY REVIEW: Let me say that the customer service was really good and the place is very clean. With that said, in terms of the desserts this place was a complete miss for us. The cakes are bland and the icing extremely sweet. The sugar does not dissolve in your mouth and leaves a film in your palate. The cakes are extremely dry, and they were freshly done because it was the first slice. I couldn't even finish eating a small sliver cut from one of the gigantic slices because it is worse than eating sugar by itself. This place was a total miss for us. Even my kids tought it was too sweet and they had to leave the icing. On the good side, I ordered 2 brownies and they were good, not the best but better than most. I think the pastry chef forgot the carrots in the carrot cake becaue they are nowhere to be found. Will not visit again.

MY REVIEW: I went to the Dessert Gallery for lunch today. Imagine my surprise to discover that they no longer prepare salads, soup, wraps or sandwiches on site. They must get the pre-prepared foods from the Kirby location. This is a shame because their uptown chicken salad is to die for. They had VERY limited selections of food. They did have an uptown chicken salad sandwich which I purchased and it was very good. The downside to pre-prepared meals is that the lettuce and tomato were a little limp and the bread was starting to get a bit stale. The upside is that now you get a free cookie with your sandwich (I assume the same is true if you purchase a wrap or salad). Still, it was disappointing. I won't be back there for lunch again. I will still get the occasional slice of cake. The carrot cake is excellent.

MY REVIEW: I went to The Dessert Gallery to buy a cake based on having had one about a year ago. At the time I thought it was one of the best chocolate cakes I had ever had. I have a tradition of always making a cake for my son's b'day which is on 12/31 but I told him I was going to make an exception this year because the cake was sooo good. I ordered and picked up the Mom's Chocolate Cake-it was frozen when I got it but the lady assured me it was very fresh and would thaw just fine. Long story short, the cake was dry and really not all that special or good and by the way, pretty pricey (but if it had been as good as before I wouldn't have minded the price). A huge disappointment. Anyway, I called them to let them know I was unhappy and the manager said he was new and was very sorry. Did not offer anything else-like a discount on another order- which I thought would have been a nice gesture. Oh well-there are lots of other places to buy cakes in Houston. I won't be going back here.

MY REVIEW: We walk into the new digs on Kirby (much nicer, better parking). I order a slice of Diner Classic (yellow cake with chocolate frosting) and Hubby orders Strawberry Cheesecake TO GO.

The older lady who took our order was not in a friendly mood. Fine, whatever. When she calls his name, she has it all plated to eat there. We ask her to box it to go. Okay. I get my order home, and she had given me Tres Leches Cake.

It was mediocre at best. Please get better staff.

MY REVIEW: I have been craving Lemon cake, so I decided to try Dessert Gallery on Saturday afternoon. It was moist and delicious! The frosting even has tiny bits of lemon rind. The lemon curd on top was exactly what I like- Tart! Three layers of heaven. Just remember the servings are very large, so expect to take some to go.

DH ordered the chocolate mousse cake there and he ordered a red velvet cupcake and a chocolate cheesecake cupcake to go. I thought the mousse cake is the strongest chocolate-tasting dessert I have ever tried. Not for the faint of heart. Later that night we shared the red velvet cupcake with cream-cheese frosting. It was so-so. Not very moist.

Service was average not very friendly or attentive. Seemed like they weren't happy to be there. DH ordered a coffee. The staff were brewing it, and they started getting customers in, he had to go back up to the counter and ask for it again. Overall, take the slices of cake (about $6.50 a slice or about $42 for a whole cake) to go and enjoy it with loved ones.

MY REVIEW: Let me start by saying I've never actually been here. I was in my office after lunch one day when the most delicious looking piece of cake materialized on my desk. My coworkers had gone to try it out and brought by samples. My arm was twisted and I tried all three kinds. We had the Everyone's Favorite Mousse Cake, The Big O, and the Lemon Vacherin. All were equally divine and decadent. I had a hard time stopping myself. The Lemon was my favorite but I can't wait to go there myself to try all the other flavors. And one more thing - they even do wedding cakes! This is a new favorite place!

MY REVIEW: I LOVE their dessert trays and cupcakes, as does everyone in my office. I've never visited any of the locations, always have it delivered because I'm on the northside, but have never had any issues. The food is always good, the desserts are fabulous and the delivery has always been right on time or slightly early.

Co-workers who don't generally go for the sweets will always take seconds if it's from Dessert Gallery and try to take treats home to family members.

Great place! I'll order from the again and again.

MY REVIEW: I used their web site to order two [2] large Cookie Extravaganzas - they screwed up and missed the delivery time - before noon. They called the next week to see if everything went okay when I told Shannon that they had missed the delivery time - before noon, and delivered at 4:00 in the afternoon only because I called to see if it had delivered that morning, she said something along the lines that everything was okay and I said no, it isn't okay and I was not a satisfied customer - she mumbled something and hung up. How hard is it to deliver cookies? Pretty lame.....

MY REVIEW: What are you talking about? I was so horribly disappointed the 4 times I visited the place. Yes, I revisit restaurants with bad food just in case I, on the off chance, ordered the crappiest thing on the menu the first time. I always went with friends, we each ordered something different every single time, and we share. I've tried about 10 desserts and I regretted paying so much for those supermarket cakes. Their idea of offering a variety of cakes is to slap on different icings or creams to the same recipe. The nontraditional cakes were a bit better, but not by much --- so not worth the price. Coffees are okay but I've had better. The places are small and crowded - and I don't understand why crowded. Service is good though. The people were so nice that I feel a twinge of guilt for such a bad review but there's really no excuse for serving bad cake.

MY REVIEW: This place was kinda tricky to find. But worth it. I had a friend from out of town come in and took them here to enjoy a good dessert. We were not disappointed! WE loved it! The chocolate cake was sooo rich. He had the cheesecake and he couldnt stop talking about it. The service was good and it wasn't too crowded. It was cozy so we had some privacy in our little booth, but we were not completely isolated. I would highly recommend this place.

MY REVIEW: FYI: The owner has won city and regional awards for her baking.

I have repeatedly ordered the high quality, rich chocolate- the kind that has virtually no aftertaste. One chocolate dipped chocolate chip cookie or dark chocolate brownie and the good quality coffee are very filling and satisfying.

My husband loves the chicken Caesar salad wrap (sandwich). Colleagues have enjoyed the hearty soups.

The shop is very friendly, and there are clearly lots of regulars from the surrounding offices and residential neighborhoods. DG also has an active catering business (desserts and box lunches) for repeat customers. I recognized the chocolate dipped strawberries and brownies at a university gathering before seeing the caterer's name.

I like the board games on hand for entertainment with a child or adult friend over a cup of coffee. We live within walking distance and several times a month.

MY REVIEW: I was very impressed with the new location on Post Oak-what a cute restaurant. We were very pleased with our desserts as well-my Mother had the carrot cake & they even decorated the plate with carrots-very cute. I had a cupcake which was a bargain at $1.85 & it wasnt your average cupcake-it was huge! We also got a dozen choc chip cookies to go-wow-they were huge & so good!

I cant wait to go back & try their lunches-all kinds of neat wraps & boxed lunches!

Yum Yum!!

MY REVIEW: When the employees and Manager found out I was new in Town, they fawned over me and made me feel SO welcome I will always be a customer. Their cookies and brownies are fabulous...as are their cakes. A great place to have a little party, a little lunch and a delightful dessert.

MY REVIEW: I also agree that the desserts here taste old and stale. I've given them several attempts but on my last visit on a sunday afternoon they were out of 'The Big O'. I was dissapointed but told by the man helping me that I shouldn't of expected such a popular dessert to be available so late in the WEEK. So much for expecting desserts that are fresh baked DAILY...
