MY REVIEW: In my opinion, this is a gem of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The darling of their menu are the fried dumplings. They are delightful little morsels of perfection - made even more perfect by the diverse offerings of condiments served in little silver pots on the table (ginger, jalapeno/bell pepper green chile, hot chile, soy and vinegar - mix it all together and the result is a fiery, complex dumpling sauce that makes you feel alive). Other favorites include the Chicken Eggplant with Black Beans(tender white meat enrobed in a rich, unctuous sauce) and the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (oversized prawns!).

In the dozens of visits here, we have never received anything short of consistently tasty food, generous portions, and gracious service. I'm truly perplexed by the negative reviews from previous postings. It's like they're talking about an Auntie Chang's in an alternate universe. Try it for yourself...and consider a visit at night when the canopied ceilings draped with string lights transport you far away from a strip mall in Houston.

MY REVIEW: Sorry, this place is awful. From the servers, surly and didn't even try to give us any service (there was a friendly one but we didn't get him). The food is just bad and "re-heated". We gave the busgirl the tip she was the only one interested in giving us any service. Oh well... plenty of other places to eat. Waste of a good location and view.

MY REVIEW: I specifically asked for combination lo mein with no beef, but guess what i got.... combination lo mein with beef :( although the lo mein was good i was appalled at the service. i did not get my meal that way i wanted it and i got bad customer service from the driver. the driver did not speak english and could not tell me where he was. he just kept saying "food delivery, no english, food delivery, no english" so i had to walk to all the different entrances of my school to find him. then when i got there and paid for my food he had the nerve to say "no tip??". i just shook my head and walked away. i will no be ordering from this place again!

MY REVIEW: The very BEST!!! We live about 40 minutes from Auntie Changs...but we go all time. The tea, the dumplings, the egg drop soup....most of all the service, is outstanding. I have 2 small boys and they love it too.

MY REVIEW: Went to lunch on Sunday. The restaurant was clean and they had a really great lunch menu. I got fried rice, one eggroll and an assortment of 8 dumplings for $5.75. Rice, eggroll and dumplings were standard. Good overall value and the servers were really nice.

MY REVIEW: I work at an office building downtown, impressed that they "deliver" to us...not impressed with the extremely rude delivery driver. When we first started ordering they had no problem coming to our floor. Now, they dont want to be bothered and make us meet them on the street for it. When a good enough tip is NOT given, he tells you to change it b/c he "depends on the tip"! Fine. I was a waitress before and I do believe, if you depend on it you should work for it!

MY REVIEW: Went for quick Sunday afternoon snack. Surprisingly good pork and spinach dumplings, because overall cleanliness (in the restrooms, tablecloths, windows, little pots of condiments on the table) was DEFINITELY not their strong suit.

MY REVIEW: I moved to Houston 10 years ago and searched high and low for a good Chinese restaurant. I love Auntie Changs! Everywhere else has been a dissapointment. Granted, I have never been to China and I probably don't know good Chinese from bad, but I do know that I love Auntie Changs. In my opinion they have the best wonton soup and pork dumplings in town. I am a sucker for good fried rice and AC has the best.

MY REVIEW: Great dumplings! I love all the condiments they have to go with them, such as ginger and grated jalapenos.

General Tso's Chicken was also excellent. The hot and sour soup could have had more tidbits and less soup.

All in all a great meal and service to match.

MY REVIEW: Don't EVER order take out!! Ordered 3 meals for lunch today for delivery @ 11:00. Called back @ 12:00 to inquire on order (office is 15 minutes away). Told driver would be here in 10-15 minutes. Called back at 12:20 and again told 10-15 minutes away and not sure why taking so long. Told that they would only charge us 10.00 instead of 18.36 to write on receipt. Called back at 12:50 and told he was almost here. Food finally arrived at 12:53 and the printed charge to my card was 10.00. Obviously the food was NEVER 10-15 away!!!! Food is marginal at best!

MY REVIEW: The best Chinese delivery food in Houston! I have the same order everytime and it is delicious: vegatable fried rice, seasame chicken, crispy egg rolls and the sauted string beans! DELICIOUS, fast and perfect everytime if you order or eat at the restaurant!

MY REVIEW: In my continuing quest for good, reasonable Chinese in the Shepherd/Greenway Plaza area, I decided to try Auntie Chang's yesterday for lunch. I ordered a combination special, but next time I have to try the dumplings - more customers were eating them than the traditional Chinese fare, and they looked good. But I had:

Hot and Sour Soup - Pretty good. Thicker than most.

General Tso's Chicken - Easily the best rendition of this dish I've found in Houston. The sauce was tangy, not too sweet, and there was plenty of it. The chicken was perfectly done. When you order the most fattening thing on the menu, you really want it to be good to make the calories worth it, and this one excelled.

Fried rice - OK. Not terribly memorable.

Eggroll - See Fried Rice above.

Service was decent; it took a while between tea refills but then I drink a lot of tea. I enjoyed the view as well. All in all, this was a leisurely lunch with some good food that I'll gladly return for soon.

MY REVIEW: I am a student at St. John's school on Westheimer. Our cafeteria is not only sub-par, but the food is extremely over priced. My friends and I decided to try to order delivery to save time in the lunch line and money. We ordered from Auntie Chang's Dumpling house, knowing that is a close drive. Our food arrived piping hot and delicious. It is possibly the best delivery I have ever experienced, and the hot and sour soup is exquisite. Disregard negative reviews, The food is fast, fresh, delicious and cheap (esp. the General Tso's Chicken).

MY REVIEW: I always order delivery from Auntie Chang's, and I have NEVER had bad service or bad food. The orders are delivered faster than they estimate, the food is piping hot and fresh, and the delivery driver is always polite. I admit there is better Asian food in town, but when I'm in a hurry, and don't want to cook, it's Auntie Chang's to the rescue!

MY REVIEW: Auntie Chang's is one of the Best Chinese Restaurants in Houston. Coming from New York City, a place with a truly unique and authentic chinatown, it was hard finding a decent Chinese restaurant after having moved to Houston. Auntie Chang's mixes a traditional menu with contemporary cooking techniques, the staff and management have done everything to go out of their way for the clientele. In addition to this, they have prompt delivery that can be ordered via internet. Try the dumplings, anything off the appetizer menu, the varieties of soups or the classics; it is all first class!

MY REVIEW: My co-worker and I ordered the General TSO's chicken, shrimp dumplings and a side of spring rolls. Everything was wonderful. The absolute freshest and best dumplings I've had thus far. The fried eggroll was great, with exception to it soaking in General TSO's sauce. We ordered online through their website. It was fast and the order was delivered within time stated. Great place!

MY REVIEW: It had been awhile since I had been to Auntie Chang's and I was surprised to see it was still there..I happened to be in the area and was hungry for Chinese food so I decided to give it a try...Boy, was that a mistake! This place has definitely changed from what I remember..I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special and was served something that was probably sitting on the counter for a couple of hours waiting to be microwaved..the brown sauce the hardened chicken was swimming in tasted like a ton of salt had been mixed in it and the vegetables were probably left over from someone else's plate..the eggroll tasted like you were eating a toilet paper roll and the rice was the driest rice I have ever eaten at any Chinese restaurant in recent memory..To say I was disappointed is a major understatement..I remember going to Auntie Chang's in the early 90's when my wife and I were dating and remember the food as being pretty decent..we loved the city views from the window and the ambience was nice..Certainly it is in a nice part of town but my advice to them is to get yourself some better cooks and serve your food fresh because until you do..I'm not coming around anytime soon...

MY REVIEW: Went last night and received HORRID service. The wait staff and manager started ranting about us in Chinese.. surprise .. we understand you. Well..I didn't but two ladies at our table understood it 100% and they were not ammused.

MY REVIEW: We have been going to this restaurant for several years. Recently, we are back on a big "Chinese Kick" so we have been driving downtown very frequently to this restaurant. The food has been incredible -- the fried dumplings have been some of the best we have had, the General Tso's Chicken cooked to perfection! The owner always stops to visit and to ask how the food was. He is also very open to modifications to the order and truly cares that the food quality stays up. Overall, I would have to say this is probably one of the most consistant eating establishments in the city. I don't know about take-out, but please don't base your whole opinion on delivery service.

MY REVIEW: Auntie Chang's is a lunch time favorite of mine. I have never had bad service at this restaurant. I usually order the #26 General Tso's Chicken with white rice and egg drop soup. I too, am not a big fan of the thinly wrapped egg roll. Their dumpling are really good and I love their dipping sauces. Lunch with tax is about $7, not bad for a full meal. I love the dimly lit ambience of this place at night.

MY REVIEW: First visit, ordered for office lunch (several people). One person's lunch was forgotten and took an additional hour to receive/resend. Drivers couldn't understand ENGLISH!! Very frustrating transaction. Food was okay, but the fried rice to BURNT! Will not order from them again, as there are too many other fast, reliable and friendly Chinese take-out places inside the look to choose from.

MY REVIEW: Being a half Chinese and Vietnamese American, Im very picky when it comes to Asian food. Half of the Asian restaurants that I go to is not authantic. Especially the one that aims for the non-asian dinner only because they dont know what is real or not. But when I went to auntie, the first time I opened up the menu it was all English. My first thought was great I went to an unauthantic restaurant. But suprised me that this place had real, great, spicy Chinese food. My Chinese mother thought it was one the best dumplin she ever ate in a very long time. Great food, great view, low prices! What are you waiting for? But it's more of a lunch place, or late night spontanious urge to dine.

MY REVIEW: I've ordered food from Auntie Chang's via delivery for the past few years, and it's always been great. The menu never varies for me - pork fried dumplings, special fried rice, shrimp egg foo young. It's always delivered really quickly and always good. What more can you ask for?
