MY REVIEW: My wife and I stopped in to try a new place. Small, quaint interior. The menus posted on the wall only post their empanandas whereas they do have additional items. We tried a chicken and beef empananda and a tomal. The empanandas are small but do have a lot of filling. As noted by another review they do fall apart. I thought the crust was good but my wife prefers a flaky crust like that found on traditional Mexican empanadas. Slightly over priced in my opinion. The tomal is wrapped in banana leaf with a spiced red sauce, stuffed with chicken and served with white rice. The plate was about 7 dollars, kinda of high to me. Surprisingly, my wife and I both enjoyed the tomal with the excepetion of the chicken bones. It was very large and had big portion of chicken stuffed inside. Still not sure its worth 7 dollars but if you want a change from a Tex-Mex or traditional Mexican tomal give it try. Service was ok, I guess (fortunately my wife speaks Spanish.

MY REVIEW: I came here because I was craving empanadas and I heard they had variety. I had some beef and chicken empanadas and I personally didn't like them. They were too saucey which made the whole emandada fall apart. The sauce itself was too tomatoey. I ordered 4 for me and only ate one chicken and half a beef...I didn't like either and gave the rest to my sister. Also they are kinda pricey...$2.35/emanada. The only other empanadas I have had were from Tierras Colombianas and I love the ones they have.

MY REVIEW: The empanadas aren't as good as it used to be. The owners have changed and now it is largely colombian and for some reason, the colombian empanadas in Houston aren't as good as they should be. However, there's a new empanada place in Katy bearing a similar name -- M*arini's -- and they used to own this place but not anymore. Their empanadas are the best I've had in Houston although now we would have to trek to Katy for them.

MY REVIEW: Try the apple empanada with nuts, carmel and ice cream. The one we always get is around $3.50 and worth it. It's the most expensive empanada on the menue. I'm glad they are not closer to home, these things could be addictive!
