MY REVIEW: We have been here a number of times since we re-discovered it last spring. We have never been served a bad dish or had less than quality service. This is a new regular on our rotation. Some favorites are the crab or shrimp salads at lunch (cold seafood with deconstructed salad fixings and a remoulade dressing on the side), the Sopa Tomas, gumbo and corn and crab chowder, the whole catfish and the seafood stuffed poblano peppers with angel hair pasta. We are still working through the menu. I'm not a huge fan of ceviche, but I ordered it recently and I like it very much, although I would have liked to see more of the hearts of palm and avocados described on the menu.

MY REVIEW: This was my Second time to the new location; third for my husband. We always like to sit and eat at the bar. We started with the oysters 2-2-2, and as always, they were wonderful. You can't really pick a favorite as they are all so good and go so well together. I had the ceviche appetizer (large) for my meal and was disappointed as it was really watery. My husband had the seafood pasta special with shrimp, lobster and scallops and it was excellent. It came with a salad (ceasar) and there was too much dressing for his taste ( I thought it was good), but they kindly replaced it with half as much dressing. Our bartender and server, Melissa, who we knew from the last location, was top notch!

MY REVIEW: Eaten at Tony's a couple times at the old location and the new, the new is nice and a lot more room. It does get busy and loud but not as back as some places in Houston. Took some co-workers for the first time and the food was great as usual, had the off the menu calamari that was great as usual. We had the blackend catfish that cooked perfectly. The food and service at Tony's has never suprised us.

MY REVIEW: Not sure a restaurant with prices like theirs should have the noise level of a large mob. Arrived at 1 for lunch and the noise was so overwhelming that I left with a migrane. I appreciate Mr Mandola and I understand he has sound engineers looking at the issue. Until then I will spend my money at a place that does not require me to shout at my dining companion in order to be heard.
Food okay, nothing spectacular for the prices. I agree I can get a much better meal for the same prices and better atmosphere in a lot of places in this city.

MY REVIEW: We have been eating at Tony Mandola's for the last 25 years and have always loved it. The food was always consistant. But when we went to their new location on Waugh Drive we were so disappointed. The place is beautiful, and the service was wonderful, but the food left something to be desired. Steak came out way over cooked, chicken dish was okay but not great, the Margarita Pizza was the worst I have ever had in my life, not to mention it was totally burnt on the bottom and it was served luke warm. By the way this was on a Monday night and they were only half full.

MY REVIEW: Agree with the previous review and I'm not opposed to paying top dollar for a dish. However, when I cross a certain threshhold and say it's $34 for snapper in this case, I expect a wow factor. There was nothing creative or imaginative and the dish was served cold and dry. Great decor and atmosphere, but nothing thats going to take me back there. I would much rather go to E*ddie V's and get a hot plate of food with a little bit of creativity.

MY REVIEW: Our first visit to the new location was awesome.Love the new building, don't understand the mandatory valet parking, even if they do say "complimentary", I always tip and bet most people do. We didn't have a reservation and sat at the bar, had a nice drink and ate there.Pizza and crab bisque...which was so delicious with just the right amount of crab that I felt like was in New Orleans in the 50s or 60s. Pizza had super crust, but the tempo of the restaurant was somehow friendly and warm and felt like it was Houston's go to restaurant.
I am sure all the other meals are just as wonderful as they have always been at the old locations. Can't wait to return.

MY REVIEW: Strong point is the new building. Very open and great colors. Also, the service was very good especially for as busy as they were (even on a Tuesday!). However, our overall experience was mediocre at best due to the quality and the temperature of the food. Our salads were requested with dressing on the side but were served dressed. The broiled seafood platter was served cold and dry. Nothing was special or said "Come Back" about our meal. We expected so much more from this institution.

MY REVIEW: Wonderful dining edxperience! Service, food, decor all above expectations.Huge menu of perfectly prepared dishes. We last dined here over a year ago and somehow didn't return until last night and now wonder why we don't eat here more often. Kinda noisy, but tht just adds to the expereince, takes me back to the 60's in Houston. Fun, friendly servers, friendly crowd , oysters, shrimp, excellent sauces, big servings what elese do you want?

MY REVIEW: This is one of my favorite restaurants for a business lunch or a relaxed dinner with family and friends. You can't beat the New Orleans bistro atmosphere, the seafood and Italian menu and an excellent bar, should you want a drink.
One of the standout specialties is an appetizer of calamari, crabmeat and Italian peppers in a lemon butter white wine sauce. Share the appetizer with your tablemates, or order it over linguine for an entree. Another favorite is the TNT Special--shrimp and crabmeat in red sauce, over spaghetti. They also have excellent gumbo and poboys--ask for a half poboy if you can't tackle their generous full sized one. And, if you have room, they offer excellent desserts!
OK, they don't know my name, but the staff is professional, the service excellent, and you can bet that I'll be back soon!

MY REVIEW: BEST FRIED CATFISH IN TOWN.
Everybody doesn't know my name, but I've eaten here countless times over the last 15 years. I was shocked by the review below about bad service and overcooked fish. I've never had anything but five-star service and five-star food.
The cioppino (Italian seafood stew) is also excellent. La G*riglia a block or so away put cioppino on their menu, it was mediocre, and as far as I know, cioppino never appeared on La G*riglia's menu again.
The coon-ass cole slaw also kicks, well, what it sounds like it kicks. Go there. I don't think you'll regret it.

MY REVIEW: Great off menu calamari dish with garlic butter and some sort of sliced pickled spicy peppers.
I highly recommend getting one of the daily specials. I have ordered regular menu items before and not been as happy as I have with the daily specials. I love the bartender and I may kidnap him one day. ;o) I've always had good service here and I've been coming to this place for at least 12 years. People I bring here are always happy. Just wonderful!

MY REVIEW: I was hopeful during my recent dining experience to enjoy quality-prepared food with good service. My dinner party of 4 received neither, unfortunately. I will start with the SERVICE: Service was horrendous and the waiter was arrogant, in such a way to attempt to alter the customer/waiter balance--he was, afterall, our waiter, though he acted anything but. Wait support staff was little help. Numerous times throughout our dinner I was literally handing empty glasses and plates to both the waiter and wait staff and each time they did not take my lead and reacted in disbelief. Unacceptable. Worst service I have received in, ANY, restaurant in a long time. FOOD: I ordered the Snapper Martha, other entrees included variations on this entree-theme. My entree was overcooked and dry. At best, an AVERAGE entree at above AVG price, $29.00. Entrees for other members of our dinner party were average across the board. Poor service did not help. BOTTOM LINE: $173.00 dollars for 4 people later, the dining experience, e.g., terrible service and average food, was COMPLETELY BELOW EXPECTATIONS. This was unfortunate. I had and have not an AX to GRIND, here, being only a consumer with high standards and expectations. I will NOT go back.
