MY REVIEW: My sister came to visit Houston from out of town and was staying at a hotel near Galleria. I decided to take her to a restaurant nearby, and chose Bayou City Seafood & Pasta from the several positive reviews here.

Let me say, this place, despite being fairly laid back, did not disappoint at all. The meal started off with $3 margarita specials, good ones at that. We ordered fried oysters as an appetizer, they came hot and crispy on the outside, smooth tasty and creamy inside. We also ordered crab cake stuffed jalapenos, which were deep fried in a wonderful batter and piping hot and delicious. I always like to try gumbo whenever I visit a Cajun place, and theirs was quite good, not as thick as I'd like but still tasty with plenty of shrimp.

For entrees we ordered pasta dishes, both arrived piping hot, mine was loaded with high quality shrimp, crawfish and scallops cooked to perfection. There was plenty of complimentary garlic cheese bread served warm. The waiter was experienced and knowledgeable, polite yet witty. The decor was slightly upscale but not intimidating at all.

All in all, this is a friendly Cajun restaurant that gets things right and draws a sizable crowd. Next time I'm in the Galleria area, I plan to return. Bayou City Seafood and Pasta gets my highest recommendation.

MY REVIEW: I had driven by this place for years until a friend took me to an excellent lunch. My family and I went back for dinner and everything is AWESOME ! . The gumbo is terrific ---and the seafood we got (shrimp, catfish ) was cooked to absolute perfection . The servings are so large that we brought home enough for another full meal. And our waiter , Clint, was outstanding ---and made us feel that Bayou City was glad that we were there . We will definitely be regulars . I do not believe you will be disappointed !

MY REVIEW: Bayou City has the best seafood gumbo in Houston area. I also go for the pasta, any pasta dish you try is a winner, but my all time favorite is the Liberty. Everything I have tried is great, except the crabcakes!! My daughter loves the blackened chicken. I am a weekly regular.

MY REVIEW: WE came here for a late lunch mainly because we wanted to watch a certain football game and after a quick phone call, we knew they had it on one of their bar tv's. Who knew the food was so awesome?!

Ordered a cup of Crab Bisque for a starter and was shocked that it was actually a huge bowl- and So wonderful I am still thinking about it days later! Rich, creamy with a "Kick" of cayenne at the end, the broth was like velvet, and there was a pile of lump crabmeat at least an inch thick at the bottom-this was the best I have ever eaten. It came with white rice, which was the perfect foil to the heat of the bisque. Ordered broiled scallops off the lunch menu (Only $12) and they were delicious, too. My baked potato also had the most wonderful sour cream,( maybe it was creme fraiche). Hubby had the blackened catfish and loved it as well- perfectly seasoned, good and spicy.

Service was friendly and efficient, and we were rushed at all, even though we hung out after eating to watch the game. Best meal for the money in the entire 4 days spent in Houston!!

MY REVIEW: Yesterday was our first visit to this place. We took a friend out for his birthday and let him pick the place. We had heard of it but never tried them. Once there we was seated almost as soon as we walked in. The waitress was just great. Any time we got low on anything she refilled it. Our food came out so hot we had to wait for it to cool down some.

What really surprised us was the amount of food you got. The prices were a little steap until we saw how much food was on our plates. And the food was the best seafood we have ever eaten in Houston. G*oodes seafood will not see us back the again. We will be back for more visits.

It is a small place and doesn't look like much from the outside. But once inside it is a whole differnt look.

The only thing that was against them was their rice. It was a little sticky until you put it into your gumbo.

We will not go to any other seafood place in town. I have to give them a thumbs up and no less than ten stars.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I are from South Louisiana - I mean really south - Not New Orleans. I say that as New Orleans is mostly a torist trap for restaurants. If you want to experience real cajun food in Houston then Bayou City is the place. There are a couple of other good cajun restaurants in Houston but most copy the New Orleans style. The bread is what my wife loves as it is exactly what we grew up on (made in Lafayette and delivered all over South Louisiana). Not the so called french bread you find at your local grocery or in New Orleans.

We eat at this restaurant on a regular basis and have recommended it to many of our friends and business associates from out of town. Everyone agrees that the food is fantastic. I really do not understand the complaints. I guess you can't please everyone.

MY REVIEW: Gumbo, I found an EQUAL to Houston’s Best at M*agnolia Bar & Grill on Richmond & Fountainview and that is Bayou City Seafood & Pasta on 4730 Richmond @ 610.

Had lunch there yesterday 5/2/09 and their VERY LARGE bowl (@ $9.99 a bit pricy) of seafood gumbo was really GREAT.. My wife gave a so-so to their chicken & sausage gumbo. As an aficionado of Gumbo I have had it from Houston to Galveston (ugh) to Lake Charles (9+) to New Orleans (9+) and many other places. I keep looking for “THE Best” (near us). I did a Google for “Best Gumbo in Houston” and am working my way down the list of 111 “hits” on boorah. Their garlic bread is not as good as M*agnolia's.

MY REVIEW: I went here on 2/23/2009 to eat crawfish. I brought 2 friends b/c i have been telling them this restaurant has the best biggest crawfish, fresh too.

When we came it was around 12 pm there was no wait. Price of Crawfish for Happy Hour went up from $3.95 to $4.95 which is still cheaper than anybody else.

R*agin Cajun down the street charges $6.28/lb.

We ordered 8 lbs of crawfish and was very satisfied, they were big, fresh, juicy and spicy. Usually my husband loves the crab bisque, however yesterday's bisque was bland and very very watery. Surprised b/c this never happened to us.

My son ordered the Pasta Liberty and the number of big shrimp was amazing. He was enjoying it.

Overall I like this restaurant, thank GOD i live close and this is my favorite place for crawfish so far.

One thing they can immprove is the table size. Even the biggest tables can be very cramped.

MY REVIEW: We visited Bayou City this weekend and enjoyed some excellent boiled crawfish at a great price especially during the all day Happy Hour (3.95). In addition to the the crawfish the sauteed oysters and the seafood gumbo were delicious. My wife and I also split the pasta liberty that was full of seafood.

Our waiter Paul was excellent and he suggested the blueberry bread pudding which we had no problem finishing off even though we were quite full. Overall a great dining experience and we will be telling our friends.

MY REVIEW: We chose this restaurant because of its reviews on this site. We were planning on going to the R*ajun Cajun, which we love. We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The critical reviews were accurate--the gumbo was good, but very thin. The rest of the meal did not have the cajun spices we hoped and was average and bland at best. My red fish special with blackened sauce was bland, as were the vegetables. The portion sizes were large. My wife described this as a 5 star restaurant for a blue collar man.

MY REVIEW: I really enjoy this restaurant. Oysters are large and fresh, crawfish are delicious and perfectly seasoned and the pasta dishes with seafood are creative and delicious. All of this good food at reasonable prices.

This is a restaurant that you won't go home hungry.

MY REVIEW: I miss the Rice Village location but I am glad this one still exists. I love the blackened seafood on fettucini alfredo. Best I have ever had! The buffalo chicken tender appetizer is nice and spicy.

MY REVIEW: Enjoy dining at Bayou City because they serve the most flavorful cajun fare in the city. The Seafood Gumbo is the best in town and the Crawfish Ettoufee is to die for. The Boiled Crawfish are always extra large and spicy. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. I always finish my meal with a Peach Bread Pudding.

MY REVIEW: I decided to give it a second chance. Im not impressed. The gumbo is very watery, and the food was a little bland. Or waiter was also very blah. The first time I had one of the pasta dishes that was ok, so I decided to try again. Overall I would rate 5 out of 10, and would recommend with a warning (food not that seasoned).
