MY REVIEW: My wife and I LOVE this restaurant! I am a Houston native and have many favorite restaurants around town. This is absolutely one of them... A great little neighborhood restaurant that gets plenty of business from us. You can't go wrong with any one of the dishes on the menu, and the Michalada is WHERE IT'S AT! A favorite place to unwind on a Friday evening after a long week, then some TV with the wife and kids at home.
The staff is outstanding, and make everyone always feel welcomed. They even went above and beyond shortly after Hurricane Ike, and opened up on a generator with fresh food brought in to accommodate the public when nothing else was open, and grocery shelves were empty. Also try the chips and queso. I love the salsa.

MY REVIEW: Great Food & Service. It's very clean and everyone is friendly. Their fajitas are excellent and we enjoy their enchiladas too. I would recommend the queso dip too. The prices are reseasonable and it's a wonderful place to eat.

MY REVIEW: I am from south Texas. Chappalla isn't the traditional food that I am used to eating. (Traditional Tex-Mex)**BUT** The service is excellent! The staff is very attentive. Restrooms are clean, and the price isn't bad.
I don't recomemend Chappalla- if you prefer real "Tex-Mex", I have yet to find a resturant in this part of town that does. Chappalla is the closest resturant thus far.

MY REVIEW: My family (9 people total) and I have lived in the Cy-Fair area for about 13 years, and this is the only place we go to eat Mexican food. My new husband of 5 months loves it as much as we all do.The food is wonderful, the service is excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. They continually go far and above our expectations. What more could you want?

MY REVIEW: I am originally from the Adirondack region of upstate New york. I moved to Houston in 1997 & lived there for one year. My first visit to Chapala was incredible! So incredible that I went there at least 2x/wk for my entire stay.
The staff go above & beyond the call of duty; they are always monitoring their tables to ensure customers have exactly what they need. The food is superior, always fresh & hot & the queso is to die for! I literally have dreams about this restaurant! I re-visited Chapala just a few days ago as a Christmas present to myself & I am glad to say things have not changed a bit. I felt like I was home at last! So, if you're looking for a Mexican restaurant in the Houston area, I HIGHLY recommend Chapala. And don't forget to try the queso! You won't regret it!

MY REVIEW: I had to write and add my thoughts in answer to "Not Impressed". I guess there always has to be one person with a complaint, but the author needs to get their head out of the sand. The food quality is GREAT and they are one of the best values (ie cheapest) restaurants ANYWHERE (including fast food). My friends and I have been eating here for years and it is one of our favorite restaurants. Our meal including iced tea is always around $5.00. Nowhere can you beat that deal. They warn you when they bring out the hot plates that they are "hot". The service is most always EXCELLENT with the staff coming by every few minutes to check on you. The owner, Antonio, always stops by to greet all the customers when he is there. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
Our favorite thing to do is to sit out on the patio in nice weather and de-stress with a cold glass of tea and tacos and chili con queso puffs. The Nachos Chapalas are excellent and many of my friends love the Laredo dinner. I can get full on 1 taco al carbon ($2.60), they are so big! If you are really hungry, get the dinner. The staff is always accommodating when we've asked for things like extra queso, etc. Their chile con queso is excellent by the way. The hot food is delivered hot, the way it's supposed to be, but is not "overcooked". This place is one of the best values for your money anywhere. It's a great little neighborhood spot to enjoy and unwind after a long day. Everyone there is friendly and always greets us warmly when we come in. Everyone here literally does know our names, we come in here so often. Este restaurante es muy bueno!!!

MY REVIEW: I have to agree with some of the other patrons on this page that rave about this restaurant! My wife and I tried Chapala about three months ago and we have gone back every weekend since - literally. Mexican Food is our favorite food and we have tried many restaurants around town and in different cities in Texas, but we have yet to find food as good as Chapala Mexican Restaurant at 290. The service is always very good, the waiters come by often to make sure you have plenty of anything you need. I always get their frozen gold margaritas-very tasty, very strong. When the owner is there he will always come by the table and make sure everything is O.K. Bottom Line-GREAT FOOD,GREAT SERVICE,REASONABLE PRICES!

MY REVIEW: Overpriced, underquality. We asked for margaritas, they brought a glass. It wasn't very big. Turned out it was the large. It was weak and certainly not worth $4.95
They brought our food, the plates were so hot that my child burned his hand (pretty bad burn) on the plate. The food was so-so, I think it may have been overcooked/burned in the broiler.
The service was pretty bad. The salsas were good "I'll NOT be back"

MY REVIEW: This was my first visit. I have lived in Oak Forest since 1983, and I'm sorry I haven't come here before. As far as Tex-Mex places go, this is probably the best I've had. The coupon in the Leader makes it cheap. As Arnold Schwartzenegger once said, "I'LL BE BACK!!"

MY REVIEW: Why is Chapala overlooked by you people they have some of the best Mexican food in town. This is one of my favorite mexican restaurants. Always great food, service and price. They even have a coupon for $5.00 off. This is almost the same as the last review I gave them. You need to eat at Chapala Mexican Restaurant at 290 you will go back many times. Chapala Mexican Restaurant is a MUST GO. Remember Mambo knows food.

MY REVIEW: Best value for Mexican lunch - most lunch items are really good and under $5. Can't say much for the taco salad but the other 5 or so dishes I've had were quite tasty. Plenty of chips with good salsa's. Service is always very prompt (great for a fast lunch) and friendly. Keep up the good work, Antonio!

MY REVIEW: Always very good food and service. If you are close to this location. Go and support this family owned and run restaurant. Food is priced fair if your money squeals when you pull it from your wallet, check the Leader for a coupon.

MY REVIEW: The food is always great, and the lunch special fajitas for less than $5.00 can not be beat. Never has my soda glass gone empty, salsa gone dry, or have to ask for service. Antonio is always there with a smile to greet you.
