MY REVIEW: Finally made it to Barnaby's (Woodway). Have wanted to check it out for a while but got there quite by accident last nite. Wife and I split a salad (HUGE) and a Burger (VERY LARGE) and were totally delighted with food, service, ambience, selection and price. Very interesting, diverse crowd too. Great place to go if neither of you really know what you want to eat but are hungry. Skipped desserts but they looked awesome.

Destined to be a regular for us!!!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I dine at the Shepherd location several times a month and normally everything is up to par; however, last night we got there about 8 p.m. and ordered our food. We ended up waiting more than 40 minutes for our food and other than our appropriately apologetic waitress we were completely thrown for a loop! Burgers and salads shouldn't take so long and we could forgive this seemingly random glitch if they had been on a huge wait (they were not). We will be back but it might be a while! Get it together, guys!

MY REVIEW: i originally tried the shepherd location and i was not impressed. that location was much too crowded and loud for my liking.

i eventually tried the fairview location and fell in love with their amazingly helpful waitstaff. they are very friendly and attentive. i typically get the soup of the day and the blue cheese fondue (healthy meal, i know LOL) at the shepherd location, the bacon was way overcooked on the fondue. at the fairview everything is cooked just right. love this location!

MY REVIEW: We found Barnaby's on the advice of a nice Woodlands couple we met on a flight back from France last year. Have been there several times since; for burgers, lasagna, T-bones, and beer. Salads are fine. All food is very good to better. Service varies but never really bad. The beer selection is limited. No other complaint from us. We will be going back once a month or so. Suggest avoiding rush hours and mealtime on weekends. Great for late lunch or early supper.

MY REVIEW: GORDON RAMSEY WOULD NOT BE PLEASED!! I had been wanting to visit Barnaby's for a while, and when I finally remembered to try it, I was SORELY DISAPPOINTED. My friend and I ordered one of the chicken platters, and the chicken was grissly, and rubbery. AWFUL. I ordered the meatloaf, and it was served with marinara-type sauce on top, and had absolutely NO FLAVOR...just like the rubbery chicken. The salads and burgers looked like they would be good, but at this point all I wanted was to leave this God awful place. I will not be visiting this restaurant again! Beware of tasteless rubbery food!ON A HIGH NOTE, THE WAIT STAFF WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND POLITE...thank you for that :)!

MY REVIEW: Barnaby's is always a great place to eat. The service is always great and never had a bad thing on the menu yet. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you order and they always accommodate you with any special requests. We always bring friends there and they always enjoy it.

MY REVIEW: Barnaby's is a consistent favorite in our family, particularly because of how family friendly they are. Kids' paper placemats come with crayons, and the placemat is also the kids' menu, replete with the staples: mac & cheese, corndog, etc. I've never ordered there with kids in tow and not been asked by the wait staff "Would you like us to bring the kids meal right away?" These people know how it's supposed to be done. Friendly and very attentive staff, a clean and casual atmosphere, fast service, good prices, decent food (steak and fries restores me after a long day when I can't face the thought of cooking and cleaning up)--I never get a complaint from my crew when I say "How about the doggy place?"

MY REVIEW: Went during the lunch rush so a 10 minute was tolerable. The food was good, but a bit pricey. $8 for a burger, even if it is a half pound of meat, was a bit too much. Everything was served like that. It was probably how they justified the price.

The dining area was way too loud. The design just bounces everyones voices back. I will probably not be coming back even though the food was good.

MY REVIEW: The fries are one of the main reasons I crave this place atleast once a week. The burgers are awesome, and I can never leave barnaby's without a cookie to go. They are amazing.

The service is always perfect, and sitting outside on a nice day makes barnaby's one of the best places to grab an afternoon lunch in the area.

Pros: amazing value and amazing food and service

Cons: please clean the disgusting bathrooms! If I wasnt so busy dipping my fries in the delicious honey mustard that has become a staple in my diet, I would be wondering about the sanitation of the kitchen.

MY REVIEW: It was my first time at this canine welcoming restaurant. The eatery is named after a childhood pet named Barnaby. The entire theme revolves around this family friend. Barnaby is a sheep dog whose cartoon portrait is painted in several scenes around the restaurant along with colored bones on the walls. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. There was a fifteen minute wait but they provide lots of reading materials in the small waiting area or you can just stare at their assortment of huge cakes and brownies in the front display. There is outside seating available and the best part of this is you can bring your well behaved pooch along with you. Once your table is ready you are directed verbally where your table is located. I liked this because it made me feel like I was "cool" with the restaurant...part of the family Barnaby family you could say. When the two of us got to our table our order was taken for our drinks immediately. The menu consists of salads, sandwiches, and burgers. The potions we received were HUGE and delicious! I greatly enjoyed this quaint restaurant and the food and atmosphere it provided.

MY REVIEW: To make a bad experience short, went on a thursday night to visit. We have only eaten at Barnabys a couple of times. We liked it a great deal. We decieded to eat there again after work. when we sat, there was no sign of our waitress for quite some time. Although there were a couple of waitstaff out on the porch waving at cars. To our amazement our waitress was one of these workers, to busy to get our drinks waving at cars and buses!!! when we asked for a manager-she was the manager. We just got up and left. i'm sure she never even noticed. this was the most awful experience i've ever had at any restaurant, and i eat out alot.

MY REVIEW: I eat at Barnaby's on Fairview at least one a week, usually more. The food is always great, the staff is wonderful, and the atmosphere can't be beat. In fact, when I was thinking of moving from Houston to Dallas several years ago, one of my hesitations was that Dallas doesn't have Barnaby's!

When I ate there last weekend, the staff was very concerned about the review posted for a December 30, 2007 visit where the customer complained about being cold. They mentioned the review to me specifically, and asked whether I had ever had that issue with the restaurant. I explained that I have been cold maybe twice in the 12+ years I've been eating there, but that I didn't get a bad look or a hint of hesitation when I said something about it. Most of the time, if it is a problem with the temp I'll just reach up and turn off (or on)the ceiling fan above me. Never had an issue with that.

Everyone has an off night, and perhaps December 30 was the night for the host referenced in the review. I for one doubt that a regular customer like the reviewer claims to be would decide to forever give up their amazing Buffalo Burger (medium rare, monterey jack, side of mayo), or the Greek Salad (ask them to toss it in a bowl -- much easier to eat that way!) based upon this one experience. I for one will continue to eat at Barnaby's on Fairview until they either move (I hope not) or the building collapses on them (I REALLY nope not!).

As anyone who has lived in Montrose for more than a few years can attest, Barnaby's is a Houston institution with great food, wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. You can eat at many places in Houston and not find that combination. If you're reading this review and contemplating eating at Barnaby's for the first time, don't let the December 30 review dissuade you -- I promise you won't be disappointed!

MY REVIEW: I was so glad to have Barnabys as my last meal for the year, and yes it was my first of the New Year too. Went in about 8 at night prior to going to a party, and was glad to see the smiling faces of my Monday Night Crew. It is always so welcoming here, great food, good portions, and a funny story is available from any of the crew. Especially the flying squirrel stories. This place has the hometown feel. (ElPaso for me.) Wish they had a Barnabys.

MY REVIEW: This is a rather difficult review to write. It was not so much the food as the service or lack of care from the management towards all of their customers on this day. We arrived around 2:30 for a late lunch. By the time we received our drinks it was becoming increasingly cold inside (outside temp 65), actually colder than it was outside. We asked the Host (who was in bad shitty mood towards everybody) to turn some heat on and we get a eye turning head twisting BS attitude. Now we were not the only table complaining of it being too cold inside. They finally turned the AC off than to no sooner turn it on again and it was like being in a winter storm. From Host to waitress we received no response when we asked about turning the AC off.

There is a rule in the restaurant business that says:
Excellent Service can make a bad meal good, but Bad service can make good food bad.

Well this is exactly what happened. I have eaten a Barnaby's several times a year for the past few years, and they finally put themselves "on the ban". We will no longer support Barnaby's Cafe any longer until they fire the rude person at the front door. This is unacceptable behavior from any employee at any restaurant. To the owners, if you kitchen staff is hot in the kitchen then invest some of the money you have in a separate AC/Heat system to keep them comfortable, so that customers like us that keep you in business and them employed will continue to come back to your restaurant. Now we were not the only people who were cold in the restaurant, we noticed 5 - 6 other tables who were also complaining and went to their cars to get jackets. Sorry Barnaby’s but you just lost 4 people x $20 each = $80.00 now multiply that 2 times a month $160.00 times twelve months = $1,920.00 dollars in revenue lost and this is only one group that will tell you about the problem. Now multiply this by a few other people who will not come back or the people we tell. How is your bottom line starting to look?

Its a shame that one day, employees lack of care can ruin good food and keep us from coming back. To everyone who reads this, good luck, and bring a jacket.

MY REVIEW: The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. Had the Lebanese Chicken Salad - which is basically a Greek salad. It was HUGE! Couldn't even finish it. Excellent!

My friend had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and couldn't finish hers, either.

Perfect place to go when you want something good, but don't know what exactly. The menu has a little bit of everything and the portions are generous.

MY REVIEW: I really like all of the Barnaby's locations. I especially love the baby barnaby's breakfast.

My one complaint is that the menu does not offer descriptions. I have no idea what all of their salads are...and I hate to make the waiter describe all of them. How hard would it be to put a description of what is in each one? Please!! I even looked on the website to see if I could find out there. The same goes for the other entrees.

MY REVIEW: We eat at the original Barnaby's on Fairview at least once a week. We live two blocks from the River Oaks one and pass the one on W Gray on our way home. We take a detour and go to the Original. Want to know why? Because we're family. We walk in the door, they know our names. They genuinely care about their customers. Rex, Cuba, Matthew and Christie - they care and make you feel at home. You never get this at the other restaurants. The food is great and they all really are glad to see you.

Let me give you an example, last week we sat behind an elderly lady and her son. It is a big deal for her to come out to eat. They made a very big deal over this lady - asked her how she was, just in general very much like going to your relative's for dinner. As she was leaving, Cuba rushed out the door and gave her a big hug as she left the restaurant. That REALLY made this lady's day. Wow, if they could "can" this and sell it!

Visit the original Barnaby's - it's worth it!

MY REVIEW: Had to do an art project at the MFAH so my professor recommended having dinner afterwards at Barnaby's on Fairview. Loved the Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich, my husband had a Blue Cheese Hamburger and loved it, one of my sons had Chicken Fingers, the other Mac & Cheese. The service overall was pretty good. The food was great. However my son had to wait for his Mac & Cheese, the rest of us were almost done eating before he got it. The server did bring him some fries in the meantime but it took a l o n g time before the M&C made it out... Other than that we had a wonderful time and a yummy meal! Would definitely go again.

MY REVIEW: EVERYTHING I have ever ordered at any of the Barnabys has been GREAT!

I prefer the wait staff at the Fairview location as they are very friendly, fast, and professional. EVERYONE loves Ms. Cuba!

The only "complaint" I have with the W. Gray location is HOW LOUD THEY ARE! The place has sound/noice/conversations bouncing around everywhere and you find yourself having to scream at the person sitting next to you at your own table.

Jeff & Bob....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring in something to soften up the noise level. This place is very pretty but way toooooooooo louddddddddddddddddddd.

Of course I can always go to the Fairview location, but everynow and then I need to take guests out which would not like the local flavor of the W. Gray location.

I love your food!
