MY REVIEW: I read the earlier reviews and was really excited to have the Reuben. Although it was very good for what it was, a Reuben is grilled always no exceptions!!! The deli sandwiches are good and they give very generous portions.

MY REVIEW: Wow! What a fantastic Reuben I had at this great Delicatessen in our own beautiful Houston Heights. Personally, I judge a Deli by its Reuben Sandwich. Carter and Cooley's owner is from NewYork, and besides being a strikingly handsome man, with those fiery eyes and red hair, he really knows how to make'em the old fashioned way. This hot sandwich literally drips with juices and flavors.

C&C makes their own Sauerkraut and it shows. MMmMMm. The bread is obviously artisan baked, and the mixture of Corned Beef and cheese is so well put together, the flavors meld into one gastronomic marvel.

I have had Reubens at several other area establishments (K*ahns, K*atz's, Kenny and Z*iggy's), but Carter and Cooley's takes the prize for BEST in Houston!

MY REVIEW: This place is like stepping back in time. The sandwiches are good, customer service is on target, and the strawberry iced tea is the bomb!! But eleven bucks for a ham sandwich and an iced tea??? Insulting...

MY REVIEW: The only deli in the Heights that I know of (I don't count Q*uiznos/S*ubway). Good selection of breads, meats, and cheeses to build your own custom sandwich or they offer a wide selection of specialty sandwiches. You can also choose sides such as potato salad, pasta salads, or portabello mushrooms. Sodas come by the can so do not expect a refill and request good turkey (last time I didn't and I got somekind of pressed turkey loaf) Additionally, don't order chili unless you want "Wolf Brand" canned chili. Besides a few small problems, I will continue to go there frequently.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I were shopping in the lovely antique stores, and we were hungry, so we came into this deli. We were immediately surprised to find a grand piano in the middle of the floor, but the familiar smells of a good deli were also there, so we decided to try it. This place is full of surprises! I had the Mufaletta, which was even better then those in New Orleans! My wife had the Reuben, which she hadn't tasted one so good since she was a little girl in NY.

The people were so friendly, I can see why they've been there for over 15 years. The owner says he doesn't have to advertise, I can see why. People talk! We'll be back, for some of their other sandwiches and soups!

MY REVIEW: I stumbled upon this nice deli in the Heights a few months ago and try to go every other week or so. They carry a wide selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, to name a few things. I highly recommend the grilled chicken sandwich although Carter & Cooley has been rated by Zagat to have the best BLT in Houston. Great atmosphere, limited outdoor seating and immediately next to a wide variety of antique shopping. My only complaint is their limited hours of operation. Open until 3:30 M-F, 5 on Sat and 3:30 Sun.
