MY REVIEW: I moved from El Salvador about a year ago and I have tried Pupusas at several pupuserias, and I must say El Pupusodromo has the best Pupusas I've had in Houston!
The service is not great this is true, but its a culture thing, because in El Salvador the client is not always right, and if some thing goes wrong it comes off the waiter/ress check which is not very much to begin with. So Its really something we as a culture have to get used to here, so you must forgive us for this (I speak for my people, cause I've had this discussion before with other people about Salvadorean restaurants) but the food is great so you should definitely try them. May I also say Pupusas are not Gorditas... and horchata is not made with chocolate its mainly made from a seed called Morro, but cocoa could be substituted for morro, as well as rice and other types of seeds.
This restaurant has a lot of variety of the Salvadorean cuisine, fried plantains, and tamales are also very good. I didn't like their Riguas or pasteles de carne though, but I've liked everything else I've tried.
If you want good pupusas go there!

MY REVIEW: We go to this place as often as possible. We have only been to the Veterans Memorial location and the staff has always been very nice and helpful. We try other Pupusarias but haven't found one yet to compare. Their yuca is fantastic also. We lived in Central America for 8 years and we missed the food there until we found this place.

MY REVIEW: We decided to try this place out after reading it listed as Houston's "best pupusas" in the Houston Press. Although my spouse is Mexican, we were not all that familiar with food from El Salvador and had only tried the pupusas at the fast food chain advertising them a lot lately.
The bottom line is that the food is good, but the service is horrible. The waitress had a major attitude problem that will prevent us from ever going back to this place. When asking how big the pupusas were, she informed us "normal size" and sneered at us like we were idiots. There was an item on the menu that we were not familiar with so when we asked what it was, she stated, "it's right there on the menu." Too much sarcasm and bitterness.
As to the food, like I said, it was good. However, pupusas are essentially the same as gorditas in Mexico, so it wasn't something all that unusual to us. They also had a few other good things on the menu, and the chocolate horchata is interesting.
If you want to check this place out, try getting food to go so you don't have to deal with rude and surly waitresses. From what I hear there are other pupusa places that are much more friendly if you want to go somewhere to eat, and if all else fails, go to an authentic Mexican place that has gorditas.

MY REVIEW: When i came here I received the worst service , the food was not good, and they even tried to over charge me $7 ,on a $12 tab!!! i would never return. There are several other El Salvadorian restaurants close by which are much better.

MY REVIEW: Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M., and until 1:00 A.M. on Friday and Saturday
Brief Description: What a clean, nice, El Salvadorian restaurant this is! They have five locations (12325 Vet. Memorial, 129 S. Frazier, Conroe, 5092 Renwick, and 2000 Wirt, Suite C., 6817 Bissonnet) and the one I've tried is the one at Bissonnet.
I had pechuga de pollo a la criolla ( $5.00), which was grilled chicken breast topped with sauteed onions and bell peppers, a side salad, rice, and two thick El Salvador style tortillas. It was delicious.
This restaurant features, of course, Salvadorian food, the most famous or known dish being the pupusa which is the thick cornmeal masa tortilla stuffed with cheese, pork, beans, or a mixture of the three, served with pickled cabbage on the side (usually from a big glass pickle jar looking affair, with plastic tongs).
There are a lot of regional dishes on the menu such as:
Sopa de mondongo ( cow foot and tripe soup)
Sopa de res con arroz ( beef and vegetable soup)
Camarones a la criolla ( shrimp with sauteed bell peppers and onions)
Salpicon ( diced beef stew with mint and onions)
Yuca con chicharron (cassava...similar to potato with pickled cabbage and fried pork rinds)
The price range is $4.00 to $6.00.
Update: Went back and had filet of fish, grilled, and it was very good. Served with thick tortillas, a small salad, and (frozen) French fries. Try to get rice and beans instead of fries if you order this. Price was $6.00.
