MY REVIEW: This delightful restaurant is located on the corner of a strip center East Houston (North Shore). They offer an extensive menu with very reasonable prices. Everything I've tried is really good.

MY REVIEW: I think Mai Thai is the best Thai restaurant in Houston! I've been going to Mai Thai for years now and adore their Tom Yom Kah Gai Soup (Coconut Lime Chicken Soup), their Fried Tofu with 3 Dipping Sauces, their Tiger Cried Steak (marinated grilled steak with a lime chili sauce), their Nam Plod (spicy ground chicken to be rolled up in fresh lettuce leaves) and their wonderful curries (red, green and yellow are superb), just to name a few. Also, Mai Thai is vegetarian-friendly and will make any of their meat dishes with tofu instead. They also offer brown rice and white rice.

Regarding the staff, Joey is our usual waiter and is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Mary the owner is friendly and kind, and we always enjoy visiting with her when she is not cooking!

Mai Thai gets 5 Stars in my book!

MY REVIEW: We live nearby and have eaten here for about 4 years. Has been OK, clean, and quiet with fair food. BUT, tonite, everything was terrible. Waiter condescending, every dish seriously overcooked, poor service. Uncharacteristically, the owner, who is usually attentive and an experienced (Vietnamese) restauranteur; was no help. I see that some other reviewers have had similar experiences here but this is our first and last time for this. We won't be back! Adios, Mai Thai!

MY REVIEW: We visit mai thai frequently, and we love the WHOLE experience! The wait staff is attentive, and they will always accomodate our needs. The appetizers are wonderful; my favorite being the cold spring rolls and thai toast. The tasty yum yum soup, beef salad, the flavorful green curry, spicy shrimp, pineaple fried rice...its all sooo good! We love to sit on the patio when its nice outside. Also, the cocorice with fresh mango and thai coffee are perfect for dessert.

MY REVIEW: We loved Mai Thai for it's quaint and quiet atmosphere and excellent food. I'd say we were regulars. Unfortunately this visit was a HUGE disappointment and we will not be back. Food tasted awful, and vegetables were undercooked. Fine for broccoli and asparagus, but try raw potatoes! When we spoke to the waiter about it I thought at least they would offer to bring us another dish. He promptly whisked our food away and brought us the check for the full cost of our meal. The owner never apologized either. We will never go back. There was no one else in the restaurant either so it seems others have had the same experience.

MY REVIEW: Absolutely the BEST Thai food in Houston. We love everything in the menu: Yum Yum soup, squid/beef salad, appetizers, and about entrees so far. My kids like the satay chicken, fried tofu, rice and penut sauce. The owners complain that our kids threw the rice on the floor so maybe she is particular but she can REALLY cook. Finally she gave us a big smile and my kids some candy, sorry to mess up your floor! Thank you for the good food. We love your restaurant. We absolutely will return.

MY REVIEW: Food was decent. Atmosphere quaint. Location great. Service terrible. For such poor service and unspectacular entrees, it best to patron another Thai restaurant. There are several within 5 minutes, so don't waste your time here.

MY REVIEW: Man was I surprized when I walked into this place. The inside is MUCH nicer than the outside would tell. The first time I went I got the shrimp delight, and my wife got the red curry. Yesterday we were pretty hungry, so we got the soft spring rolls, seafood pot, a rice noodle dish(the name escapes me), and a mango with coconut sticky rice. Both times the food came out fast, hot, and delicious. Also, the house wines were good too. My wife got the chardonnay, and I got the Merlot. Definitely worth trying IMO. Also, prices were very low considering the area. If you've never tried thai food, you dont know what you're missing!

MY REVIEW: I have been eating at Mai Thai for several years now. It is simply the best Thai food I have found. The menu is varied, so there is something for everyone. The portions are ample and the ingredients are fresh. My favorite is the Red Curry with Chicken. It is to die for. I also always get the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. My dinner companion the other night ordered the Green Curry with Chicken. It too was great. I have also tried the Pad Thai which is also very good. They have a very nice wine list. The family who runs it are always very friendly and attentive.

Try this restaurant. You won't regret it.

MY REVIEW: The restaurant is alot bigger than it looks from the outside. Oil pastel paintings and the candle lit tables make this place very cozy.

This is one of the best thai restaurants I've ever been to. Their pad tai is the best I've had in houston, and the duck curry is also very good. Just be sure to ask them to make the duck curry a little spicier, cuz its wasn't spicy enough for me. I had to use some of the chili sauce that they gave me. They also have a pretty good selection of wine. The prices is reasonable and their portions are big, so i shared a mango with sticky rice with my wife, which was delicious. If I lived closer to this place I'd come much more often.

MY REVIEW: This is the ABSOLUTE worst experience I have EVER had dining in a restaurant!!!!!! EVER!!! We were the first customers in the restaurant for lunch, and the owners who also served as waiters were UNBELIEVBLE! They actually had the nerve to YELL at us in their restaurant after a misunderstanding regarding their incorrect menu descriptions. These people do not know a thing about good service or hospitality. Their food is way less than mediocre, and the ambience is nothing to talk about!!! I would have to recommend to consumers NOT to visit this establishment.

MY REVIEW: Owner is extremely nice and makes us our special dishes every time we go. This place uses very fresh ingredients and makes different spicy sauces daily. I think that the noodle dishes and soups here are excellent. Menu is not too extensive compared to other asian places, but the food is excellent. Portions are huge and could be split between two people. Haven't found another thai place that has a better tasting Pad Thai.
