MY REVIEW: My fruit salad was really disapointing. The fruit wasn't fresh, it had stickers on it. I live close by so I really wanted to like the resturant but I won't be back.

MY REVIEW: The food is good, but the service is lousy. Nobody is in a hurry here. Be prepared to help yourself to water and condiments.

MY REVIEW: Weak Points - service, temperature of food, accuracy of order delivered and time between ordering and receiving food. My husband and I were there for breakfast on a Sunday, about 11:00 AM. He ordered a Western Omelet and a pancake, I had the 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast and a side of picante. We got delivered luke warm food, 2 omelets, no syrup for the pancake (had to ask, and delivery was slow) and no hashbrowns. Had to flag down staff for refill on water, never got a check. It took more than an hour to order, eat and pay. Will not go back.

MY REVIEW: We had a party of 6 along with two kiddo's under the age of two and had a great time! We all ordered pizza and it was delish and highly recommended. The wait staff was great and very friendly, but they could use one more peep to help out. The cook was kind enough to come out and let me know that the fruit for my daughter had all the watermelon seeds removed and the grapes were seedless; that was very thoughtful of him to take his time and let us know. Friday night seems to be a good night to kick back there and definitely relax with good food and friends. I will be going back and trying the burgers next.

MY REVIEW: This is my first visit and my brother's too, it is the best burger I've had in Houston, I strongly and confidently recommend it to everybody who is tired of having a fake $.99 burger, coffee is great and Deborah (the waitress) is the nicest girl in town, I will have to go back and try those pizzas for sure.

MY REVIEW: I'm down here from out of state doing a medical rotation at a clinic not too far away. I go there to study (they have great wireless for free) and eat. I especially love their french toast, always cooked to perfection, NEVER cold. Coffee mug is constantly full. Their pizzas are great. Their burgers rule. Their service is outstanding. Not sure what others see there that is disagreeable, unless they don't like the good service and friendly smiles.

MY REVIEW: i read on the internet that this place served great breakfast. the atmosphere was simple but nice....nice patio, nice manager. i had high expectations, but in the end was very dissapointed with the food. I could have cooked a better breakfast at home. I ordered the porkchops, french toast and grits. Everything was cold except the grits.....which by the way, tasted like i was eating wallpaper. The porkchops were thin as paper and were not seasoned at all. Although, it's safe to say that I would never go here again for breakfast, the hamburgers people were eating around us LOOKED good.

MY REVIEW: Our first time here was nothing special. They were short-staffed so our food took forever, but the philly cheese steak sandwich was alright. The second time we went (for dinner) was much worse. Not only did it take forever to get our food, but the food was not very good. I had to send my chicken-fried steak back because the bottom of it was burned back, carefully covered with gravy in hopes I wouldn't notice. When I got the second one, it tasted under-cooked. Everyone else that ordered dinner items did not think very highly of their meals, but the person that ordered off the lunch menu liked what she ordered.

Bottom line: if you go here, stick with the pizza or the lunch menu and expect to wait a while for your food.

MY REVIEW: I haven't been here in a few years. I wasn't impressed then, and I'm not now. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, but the food isn't that impressive. I like 'home-cooked,' but I feel like I could have made my breakfast better at home. Service wasn't awful, but not special either. I probably won't be back for a long time again.

MY REVIEW: Friendy greetings at the door by the entire staff was a great way to start. The service was great, I wish that I had gotten our waitress' name since she was very attentive and great with our two young children. Our coffee cups never had a chance to get half empty--which was wonderful. The breakfast was hot and right on the money. The portions were big to the point that we could not finish. Our kids shared a waffle and eggs. Very reasonable on prices as well. The porch was pleasant and it allowed for our kids to watch the traffic go by. We will definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: The first thing I noticed on this visit is that the interior has been freshly painted. Several previous reviewers have mentioned a musty smell, but I didn't notice that at all. Service was good and so was the food. I had the cheeseburger, which is as good as it always has been. I am particular about my cheeseburgers, in that they have to be well-done, and come with mustard and no mayo. This restaurant always gets that right, so, it's always been a perfect cheeseburger experience for me over the years I've been going there for that particular delicacy. The Studewood street construction is 99% finished, so that situation is no longer an impediment to accessing the parking area.

MY REVIEW: Now its dirty, rundown, the food is cold, and the waitstaff is indifferent. Occasionally, I'll give them another chance, but they always seem to let me down. I have lived in the Heights for a long time. The last owners really took care of the food at the Cafe.

Last experience, I brought some family from out of town, they took forever in each step of the meal process. The food was cold when it got out, the waitstaff seemed annoyed when asked for a little more coffee, and it smelled musty.

MY REVIEW: I live close by in the neighborhood and wouldn't go there if I were starving and it was the only place open for miles. As another reviewer pointed out, it's dirty, smells moldy and the service is bad.

The restaurant situation in the Heights is unfortunate. Sure we have Shade and now Glasswall but why can't someone open something in the Heights that isn't pretentious and expensive. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants and taco joints, but I would like to see a casual spot for coffee/lunch/dinner that didn't break the daily worker's budget.

MY REVIEW: Business occasionally brings me to Houston and in the past, my co-workers and I have enjoyed visting the 11th Street Cafe. However, our last will certainly be our last. And that's largely because of the service. In short, our waitress was condescending, rude and altogether unprofessional.

For instance, she was somehow put out that we asked for a handful of menus instead of the lone menu she tossed onto the table. Funny, I thought it was pretty common practice for each guest to have his/her own menu. Guess not at 11th Street Cafe. Maybe they'd prefer for five grown men to read from the same menu because, uh, those menus are really, really heavy and she could only carry one at a time. Or perhaps there's a paper shortage only in Houston or the 77008 zip cod. I dunno. Fascinating. If anybody finds out, please reply.

So, from the moment she arrived to take our orders to the harrowing ordeal of just trying to get our check, she ruined the experience completely.

As for the food, hmm, this time, it was nothing really to write home about. Proportion wise, it would've been nice if the food she served was as abundant as the attitude. But to be fair, the food wasn't bad. The abysmal service, however, just ruined it for us.

So, if you want to be insulted for a good thirty to forty-five minutes, I'd highly recommend the 11th Street Cafe. Otherwise, save your money and your patience.

MY REVIEW: Well, the pizza was pretty decent...not worth the traffic fight from my house near 290 & Eldridge. Umm...the black currant tea tasted like liquid licorice (YUCK-O)!!! Like i said, its good if you're in the area, but to me the hype brought me in, the medeocrity drove me out!

The service was gr8 the first time (we had this good looking guy w/ longer hair) and the second time we had this nice, cute red-head who was pretty good, then we had one woman who NEVER EVER came by!

Last thing, the place smelled lke it was molded or like old water...not overly appetizing!

MY REVIEW: This place is a perfect example of how desperate the heights for restaurants. This place is the most mediocre restaurant I have ever been in. The coffee is not very good and the food is straight off the sysco truck.....it is a shame because the place from the outside has great potential....the iced tea is bad...how is that possible?

MY REVIEW: This is a hole in the wall diner and exceeds all expectations of such a place. The food is great, waitstaff is friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a laid back neighborhood restaurant, this is the place for you. Order a carafe of orange juice and get a complimentary bottle of champagne.

MY REVIEW: I love this place! Their pizza is in my personal Top 3. Their coffee is decent, and they have a good selection of sandwiches and specials. I love their service and environment... very laid back and friendly. Price range is reasonable. I like going every couple of weeks. Not sure why people are giving it bad reviews... maybe they are expecting something more fancy than the style of the heights. I suggest either lighten up, or go somewhere else...

MY REVIEW: This place has really gone downhill since it changed ownership. Food is downright crap and staff is marginal at best. I think this place only survives because there is just not enough competition in the Heights for weekend breakfast. Trust me, folks, drive to the Montrose for your breakfast/brunch.

MY REVIEW: Wow, from the outside of this place you would think it woul dbe cozy ,unique etc....when you get in there is is the opposite. The booths look like they came out of Den*y's. The wait staff may or may not have ever worked in a restaurant before and the food..well I have had better at little league games. They have quite a coffee spread also so i figured maybe it was more of a coffee shop..WRONG.....no clue where they get this stuff but it too was awful...bottom line is that in the right hands this placee could be nice but somebody needs to up the quality of the products...just cause we dont have many restaurants here in the heights doesnt mean we will tolerate poor quality
