MY REVIEW: We normally get take out.

- Food is always fast, fresh and served hot.

- Quality: excellent. Everything is well made. Meats are tender, veggies crisp.

- Flavors: wonderful.

I'm in my 40's and have eaten a lot of chinese take out in Texas and California over the years and this place is hands down the best ever.

MY REVIEW: They don't know my name but I 've been there more than 6 times.

Golden Cafe is hit or miss, but this is the last time I will visit. I ordered a dinner special item like most Chinese restaurants that offer the soup, egg roll and a entree for take away. Other than the soup the rest was inedible. The fried rice was hard and tasteless and tasted like it had been made days ago. The chicken was so bad in taste and texture I spit it out and threw the entire meal in the trash.I have often over looked the "messy" look and feel of the place because the food was decent. They seem to have a regular wave of good and bad, but just can't seem to keep it steady. The people are friendly, but it would be helpful if they had at least one person who's first language is English. I hadn't been back before this visit because on that visit almost 2 months before I was given the wrong order and I was at first charged for a larger order, which they immediately fixed, but I couldn't understand what the young lady was trying to tell me as she got flustered when I told her my order shouldn't be $15.00. I didn't look in the container (s) because my name was on the receipt with the right order written on it but when I got home it was a single order but not what I had ordered. Luckily it was something I could eat.

I will now have to drive 18 miles round trip for my regular Sunday evening Chinese fix because getting quality Chinese in the Heights I'm convinced is not going to happen. I live less than a mile from Golden Cafe. The only other decent place for this type of food is closed on Sundays. This restaurant could benefit just by making the food more appetizing, fresher and consistent. I would also be willing to pay more for better quality food.

MY REVIEW: I like Golden Cafe. It is important, before you visit, to know that it is the Chinese-American version of comfort food. If you want it Americanized, cheap, fast, bland, abundant, and fried, this is the place. The service is prompt and the place has been clean on our visits... but it's far from the cornucopia of high quality & elegance previous reviewers imply.

MY REVIEW: We order out most of the time and only when I don't have the time or energy to cook. I've been inside the restaurant as well a couple of times. Whether you eat in or deliver, these folks have awesome awesome AWESOME service. The food is grrreeeaaaat. I have to especially compliment on the fish dish that I don't remember what the name was but it was excellent, so unexpected. And I luh huv their fried rice. It is never greasy and just cooked so right. The best sweet and sour chicken I've ever eaten...I always get more than I expected when ordering from these guys. I'm so glad to see everyone has a good experience as well, my loyalty to Golden Cafe! Wonderful people.

MY REVIEW: i recently discovered this location on the delivery service i use and the food is excellent! they deliver to anywhere within a 5 mile radius for free. i've visited the location twice already and tried their seafood special of fried shrimp/fish/veggies (on the lunch special menu - which includes soup, eggroll, and fried rice). it's amazing the price is so affordable ~ $6.50.

the staff is very friendly and accomadating. my personal pick for affordable delicious chinese!

MY REVIEW: I moved into the area a little over a year ago and just finally tried Golden Cafe last month. Wow! I'm sorry for waiting this long. And here I was bummed out because I moved to far to enjoy my old favorites! Well, Golden Cafe is now my new local chinese food place. Everything is fresh, chicken dishes are all white meat, hot and sour soup is wonderful. I will be a regular.

MY REVIEW: Although I have passed Golden Cafe for the past four months, I finally tried them today and was pleased.

The staff was friendly, menu affordable and interior was clean.

I ordered the General Tso's chicken, which came with an egg roll, soup, wonton and fried rice. A very nice portion — All for less than $6! The GT chicken was spicy, but definitely not overwhelming. I could take or leave the egg roll, which was mediocre. But I enjoyed the chicken/rice soup and fried rice.

It was pretty quiet for lunchtime, but then again..its still holiday time.

I enjoyed my visit and will definitely visit again soon!

MY REVIEW: Take out is fabulous and delivered hot. Items are well packed and delivered according to the time they tell you for the delivery. However, we also eat at the restaurant even when we have other options in the area. Very friendly and clean. They even have authentic foods and not only the American version of Chinese. Best crab puffs in the city.

Highly recommend.

MY REVIEW: Golden Cafe is absolutely great. Highly recommend the fried fish (flounder) that is on the lunch special menu in addition to the pork chop. The pork chop is small, but thick - enough if you're aren't super hungry. Their other dishes are great and they will accomodate if you prefer "extra spicy". Their vegetable egg foo yung is also good. The interior of the restaurant is not fancy but nice and the food is reasonably priced. My fiance and I have been coming here about once a week for the past year.

MY REVIEW: We've only visited this restaurant once but I can tell you it was a great dining experience! (I actually read previous reviews so thought we'd give it a try even though we do not live in that area)

Excellent food, large choices, reasonably priced and great service. Can't ask for more.

John, one of the owners sons who waited on us, was friendly, helpful and made us feel like we were long time customers instead of first timers.

My wife, son, and I all ordered from the lunch/dinner specials and were not disappointed. Large portions and very fresh (not like some places where is seems it was left over from the lunch crowd) even though we arrived later in the evening. Great atmosphere and one of the cleanest I've seen (Marvin Z should try this place!).

I found absolutely nothing to complain about and believe me, I'm really picky. We eat out several times a week and this place is diffently on the top of my list to recommend to anyone!!!

MY REVIEW: I have tried almost every Chinese restaurant in my area, and this is by far the best of the best. They are extremely clean and friendly. They serve mostly white meat chicken,which is what I look for since it is healthier, and their food is wonderful. I have never left there hungry. If you want really GOOD chinese food..look no farther...this is the place to go. Their prices are very reasonable and you get large helpings. I do wish they would put a childerns section on their menu though. I know most children prefer hambergers,corn dogs,fries,etc. I can't go there when my grandson is with me as there is nothing on the menu that he would enjoy. But, please go there and try their food...you will make this your favorite Chinese place to eat also.

MY REVIEW: We haven't eaten in; only take-out. The service is prompt but there have been a couple mixups (probably our fault due to slight language barrier or bad communication between myself and my husband prior to ordering). One was that we got the a la carte plate instead of the meal (which would have come with the soup, rice, and eggroll) and another time, we didn't pay with credit card over the phone (and I don't believe they asked for method of payment) so we assumed they would take a personal check at the door and did not. Our guests baled us out because they had cash on hand. HOWEVER, all that said, we simply wrote "Pay w/ credit card on phone" as a reminder on our Golden Cafe menu so that when we call, we will remember to mention it.

We WILL be calling and ordering again; the food is great, abundant, and reasonably priced. Personally, we like spicy and find that their "hot" dishes are not very spicy at all, but I'm sure one could request more intensity when ordering. We haven't bothered to do this yet, because the food is really very flavorful and we like it quite well as is. I have had the General Tso's chicken and found the recipe much different from what I've experienced at other Chinese places, but again, quite tasty and nothing to complain about. The chicken meat, as others have mentioned, is nice and white and juicy. The egg rolls are *delicious,* though I do not care for the spring roll recipe (quality is good, but the flavor combo was not my preference).

The portions are so generous, I try to convince my husband to just buy one meal for us to share, but he always orders about double what we can eat, and we have leftovers for a couple days. I guess that's not such a bad problem, when the food is good. ;)

The only slightly negative thing I would say about the food is that one time, we got somewhat drier chicken than we had previously experienced. We had previously ordered for lunch, and this time was dinner, and we wondered if maybe it had been cooked and sitting in a warmer for a couple hours before we received it. However, this hasn't occured again, and we've enjoyed great dinner from them since. It could have been a one time mistake.

I recommend Golden Cafe and hope they stay in business in the Heights. Thanks!

MY REVIEW: This is one of those restaurants you feel lucky to find... All of the entrees are made with good quality (i.e. white meat chicken) meat, the delivery service is prompt and always hot on arrival, and I haven't tried anything yet that I wasn't pleased with. The new management is superb. The staff is very eager to please.
