He got the hamburger and onion rings basket. Both were delicious. The onion rings weren't your typical frozen-and-reheated, over-processed stuff. These were homemade. I got the grown-up grilled cheese and fries basket. I've had a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches in my time and I must say that this was by far the best! The bread was cut thick and toasted perfectly. There were 4 (or 5? I can't remember) types of cheese that were melted and gooey. It also had sliced tomato and AVOCADO. Delicious. I highly recommend both selections. We arrived around 11:30 and there was absolutely no line. However, during my most recent visit I strayed from the usual cheeseburger and could not have been more disgusted with the poor excuse of a shrimp basket I received. My friend likewise was less than thrilled with his chicken strips basket. Both the shrimp and chicken tasted more like cardboard than anything else. We ate the fries and left the remainder of the meal behind. If you choose to visit this establishment, I highly recommend you stick to the basics of cheeseburgers and fries. But... one more thing... be sure to check any ToGo orders because lately those have not come out correct either. It was a lot of meat, spiced well, and cooked just right. The fries were ok, a little on the greasy side. I would return and just order the turkey burger itself, as it's certainly a meal alone. I did find the prices a bit high as another reviewer pointed out. $16 for two burgers, fries and one coke is a bit steep. Still, good turkey burgers are hard to find in this city, so I'll probably be back. Charlie's on Katy has ten times the burgers of S*outhwell's. Meat is good and cooked well...one of the better burgers in town. The employees there leave something to be desired, though. You aren't buying service, you are buying a tasty burger.
