MY REVIEW: Very good cheeseburger. It is dressed perfectly and the meat is real meat. It is grilled on a griddle top, not a real grill, but it tasted just as good! i also ordered a pound of ribs. it was not cooked long enough. the bbq sauce was tangy and a little sweet - which is how i like it. they also carry jalapeno ketchup - WOW! It was yummy! the type of french fried they use is the steak fry - also my favorite! my group of 4 also ordered the fried chicken wings. the twenty minute wait time was more like a 30 minute wait time. That would be the main complaint. Good thing we were not in a hurry. We were there for a good hour!

MY REVIEW: The Husband and I are somewhere between 4-6 times and "Everybody knows my name". We go on Fridays, because Blake's makes the BEST Fried Catfish you will every put in your mouth in a restaurant. A little cayenne and I would think my grandpa got resurrected and went fishing.
The BBQ is well above average, the onion rings are great, the cakes are home-made -- just ask how old the chili is before you get a Frito Pie.

MY REVIEW: Really nice place and atmosphere. Very friendly and natural people. For example, if you use the drive thru (or walk in for that matter) you are not automatically bombarded with "Welcome to ??...Would like like to try our special "blank blank" item today?" Don't cha just hate it when they do that? I wanna yell back something at the person on the other end, but I can't because they are made to say it.
But back to Blake's....I haven't seen their onion rings reviewed, so maybe I can be the first to declare them THE BEST. You can tell they don't come frozen in some huge bag. These babes are home made. I've tried my hand at it many times, and these beat my home made and also beAT the "fast food" variety by a mile. One futher note on the "atmosphere." If you didn't know better, you'd think you just walked in to some little place in the hill country.

MY REVIEW: Oh my gosh, this is the best hamburger we have ever eaten!!! It is not fast food - they cook it when you order it. The fries were fabulous. This burger just melts in your maouth. My entire family was impressed. We will definitely make this our usual hamburger place.

MY REVIEW: Went in about 2 PM and got the coldest burger imaginable. My guess is that they cook up a bunch of meat for noon lunch, let them sit and I was served one of those that had been cooked back then. What's worse is that they did not even use the microwave to heat it which I would not have liked either. Microwaved meat is yuck. I've had too many misses, not enough hits to venture back to Blake's any more. They can do better, MUCH better.

MY REVIEW: They don't know my name but we've been going there since we read about it in Whining probably 6 yrs ago. The person said he was afraid his favorite burger place would be discovered and overrun with people. Since then they've added the big side room and the whole "backyard" picnic area. If you go right at lunchtime there WILL be a wait but we just have lunch at 1pm.
In 6 years I have NEVER gotten a dry or previously cooked burger! I don't order it special so if that's done there's a good chance I would have gotten one. One warning: that jalapeno catsup on the condiment sideboard is frightenly hot (to me). I ended up having to scrape it off my fries. Next time I'll mix half and half catsup.

MY REVIEW: I went here based on the other positive reviews. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for this place. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries when there was no one else waiting for an order, and it took over a 1/2 hour to get it! Although the burger was ok, it was small and there was nothing special about it to make it stand out from any other burger you get it town. The fries were your average steak fries, and there weren't many. Again, nothing special. The lemonade that was raved about by another reviewer was extremely sweet - not refreshing at all.

MY REVIEW: Liked the burger very much. I did order it medium rare and got a little under the voice comments about it. It took about ten minutes to get to my table. The BEST part was the butter toasted buns! Hadn't had butter toasted buns in years. The onion rings were just okay and they forgot to bring out my drink, which was water, only because it was water I thought "No big deal". The table next to me ordered a hamburger and got it within two minutes. Makes me wonder if the meat has precooked and waiting for orders. Other than this I will be back for a medium rare hamburger, freshly cook to my liking.

MY REVIEW: Loved the bacon cheeseburger I had. VERY fast service, bun was nice and HOT and the burger had just enough 'char' to taste great. Nice tasty bacon, had it with the works.
Awesome friendly service as well.

MY REVIEW: This is IT! I have spoken. There can NOT be a better burger any where. How this place has managed to be in business for 25 years and for me, the World's Foremost Burger Expert, the Big Burger Daddy, not to have heard about it till today is almost sinful.
My first visit was not too pleasant because of a mixup in orders and it took what seemed like forever for the burger to arrive. But once I sunk my teeth into that double-meat, bacon-cheezeburger all was forgiven.
This place has BBQ in the name and I love BBQ too but as long as they keep turning out burgers like the one I had today I doubt I'll ever get a taste of their BBQ.
Seriously folks, this was the best I've ever had in my long, long life and that's a LOT of burgers. Let's see, what time do they open in the morning? I'll be there waiting for the doors to open.

MY REVIEW: I go to Blake's once a week. I love it. I'm watching my weight so I don't order the fantastic looking burgers or cakes or pies. I always order a turkey sandwich, sauce on the side. It is WONDERFUL. My husband always orders the barbequed chicken and says it's the best in town. The bun is the thing with the turkey sandwich. It's grilled and the edges are all crispy and the lettuce is chopped, not in big hard-to-bite leaves. I've never been disappointed there and am looking forward to my smoked TG turkey. Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Blake's.

MY REVIEW: I love hamburgers, and let me just say - this is the best hamburger I've ever had. The onion rings are great, too - made from real onions. Don't know about the barbeque, though

MY REVIEW: I visit Blake's often. It is usually hit or miss. Sometimes its great and other times its not. I am refering to the Link Sandwich. I have decided not to order this anymore and stay with the hamburgers. It would also be great if they had a website were I could view menu on line to view other menu items. Service always tends to be slow. Just expect it.

MY REVIEW: They don't really know my name but I go there often enough that they've started saying "your usual?". After being in business for years, they still make one of the best burgers in Houston! I don't always suceed but I try to same room for a slice of one of their homemade cakes. They also serve Hank's Ice Cream including his famous buttered pecan.

MY REVIEW: We checked out Blake's last week, having been meaning to go ever since the review was in the Chronicle. We both ordered barbecue and rather wished that we had ordered hamburgers. The barbecue was ok, but not super; the sauce could be better. The hamburgers other diners were eating looked great, and we will go again to try them. The pecan pie was very good and the other desserts looked tempting. The service was very friendly and the prices reasonable. We'll be back.

MY REVIEW: The barbeque here is by far the best I've had in Houston...the sliced beef is very tender, and the links and beans both have a good kick to them, but the taste is great!! Have never had a hamburger there, but I understand they are very good also. It's kind of a hole in the wall place, but don't let the looks deceive...you won't be disappointed if you eat here!!

MY REVIEW: I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE Blakes
The hamburgers are the best I have ever eaten. Very homeade tasting, seasoned, well-cooked, and the list goes on.
If you are looking for a great hamburger this is the place to go.

MY REVIEW: If it's the best hamburger in the universe you're searching for, then go to Blakes BBQ. This is the old fashoned 'cafe' burger of forty years ago. With a bun that is grilled to a crisp edge, and what looks like a hand squashed thick meat patty, it's a full meal in itself. The FF's are cut thick, and cooked to perfection. If I sound like a Blakes fan, then so be it...

MY REVIEW: Possibly the best hamburger in the city; yes, hamburger. I know this is a BBQ place, but....It's a big, old-style burger, PLUS the bun is grilled/toasted. Also, thick, real fries make this the best combo around! Very nice people, too. Oh yeah, get some pecan pie.

MY REVIEW: The Bar-B-Que plates and sandwiches, and Hamburger (Cheese) Burger baskets are fantastic with french fries or onion rings. I enjoy their "sweet treats" especially the Hanks Homemade Ice Cream! You can't go wrong. You gotta try this place.
