Lam Bo Chinese Buffet
6159 Westheimer Rd, Houston, Texas 77057
MY REVIEW: On Saturday July 14, 2012 we went to the restaurant. I had the boiled shrimp as I usually do but the cocktail sauce was very liquid as if it had been watered down. I complained to my waitress as well as the front desk (check in desk) but nothing was done about it. On Sunday I telephoned and asked to speak to the Manager and he really did not care and seemed to dismiss my complaint

MY REVIEW: This was the first time we'd been back in about 3 years. Used to be a favorite of ours, but we moved and this was the first visit (and the last) in a while. Sadly this place has gone downhill, the clientele looks slobby and children run amok - squealing, shrieking & crying. This creates unpleasant acoustics, and made me feel slightly nauseous as I nibbled on the food. The carpet looks drab, with food droppings trailing from the buffet to tables.
The quality of food is so-so, not nearly as good as I remember. With 2 alleys of food, a sushi bar & desert galley, I found it hard to fill up one plate of apetising food, let alone a second. The red-bean sesame rice balls are still as tasty as I remember, but not much else.
Too many children were wondering around the buffet area. A better system would be to have no children under 12 in the buffet area, and let the parents pick out the kids meals.
Expesive - lunch for 2 + drinks was $28. Probably didn't help we visited at peack hours. If I were to go again, or recommend to others, I would suggest going there at 11am - before the mobs, and so you can get the fresh stuff, before the children pick at items.

MY REVIEW: This visit was my first and it won't be my last. The food was very good...fresh and hot!...I loved everything...I don't think I will ever go on a Sunday again...it was very crowded! I was a little concerned about the children running all over the restaurant..It can be quite disturbing at times but, no other complaints...restrooms were clean..I will be back soon!

MY REVIEW: I liked it...it wasn't as great as last time but its still good..we go there all the time we have LOTS of craving. Plenty of variety..love the cheescake..better than any chinese restaurant ever. It looks elegant (or better than it did) restrooms are clean and overall I loved it!

MY REVIEW: Very, very poor management. While the food was decent to good, the unsupervised children allowed to run through the restaurant (on more than one occasion) made our visit almost unbearable. We moved tables and although it is the parents responsibility to control their children - it is also management's duty to attempt to control the atmosphere for those who want to dine.
We may try Lam-Bo one more time - but will most likely pass,

MY REVIEW: GOTTA SAY THAT EVERYTHING ON THE BUFFET IS SUPER GOOD. I NOW GO THERE AS OFTEN AS I POSSIBLY CAN. THE LARGE SHRIMP IS COOKED TO PERFECTION, THE SALADS ARE GREAT. MY FAVORITES, THE FRIED DUMPLINGS. ARE UNSURPASSED. THE STEAKS ARE COOKED EXACTLY AS I ORDER THEM AND ALL THE OTHER DISHES ARE SUPER. THE SERVICE COULDN'T BE BETTER.
MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE SMALL WINE GLASSES THAT THEY USE AND CHARGE A REGULAR PRICE FOR. I NOW SIMPLY ORDER ICED TEA AND DRINK MY WINE AT HOME.

MY REVIEW: I'm sorry to say that Lam Bo, while once a great option for Chinese Buffet dining, has gone downhill for the past 6 months. I had been going since about a month after I moved to Houston in 2003, but the last 4 or 5 times I've gone, it's been worse & worse. The food that used to be really good had become just so-so, and cleanliness & service have both taken a dive. The last time I was there, I was so disgusted -- by everything -- that I walked out sad that I would not go back. I stand by that decision. If someone else goes & finds it has improved again, by all means, please leave a post saying so.

MY REVIEW: There's nothing stunning about the quality at this buffet. But, they do everything "right".
The restaurant is always clean (including the potty) and always busy. The food stays fresh, and they keep it full. They also have good iced tea.
The Sunday crowd is a must-see. Every family in the neighborhood eats there.

MY REVIEW: I first tried this restaurant shortly before I moved to town in July 2004. My husband and I have gone once a week or so since then.
My favorite are the spring rolls. Only twice I have been disapponted because there wasn't any basil in the rolls; otherwise they are fantastic.
We also frequent the W*k B* down Westheimer and find both places to our liking. We will return often since we enjoy the selection, and service is always excellent.
Occasionally it gets too crowded, but if you time your visits correctly, you can enjoy a leisurely meal without fighting people on the buffet line.

MY REVIEW: This is a nice huge place its really big....but....The food SUCKS!! it is not fresh last time i went was 1 year i go and i forgot how the food tasted so i went again today and it brought bad memory's to me! The food is tasteless, sushi smells old and taste nasty, spicy food is simple no flavor, mac-n-cheese is just watery cheese and no flavor, deserts are nasty too and not to many to choose from. The only good thing was the WATON SOUP but is not worth it to pay buffet price for a food. I recommend that YOU do not go there! RUN... to another better place.

MY REVIEW: I had lunch here today and remembered it as being pretty good from my first visit several years ago. And the surroundings are still lovely - everything looked spotless. The wait staff were quick to fill our iced tea glasses. As for the food, I first tried the hot and sour and Thai soups. I was surprised (happily) that they both tasted different from the same-old Sysco canned soups found in most other Asian buffets. However, the rest of the food was lamentably average. Nothing tasted particularly offensive -- and it was filling -- but most of it was just bland. I suppose they keep seasonings to a minimum to please a greater number of people, but I would have preferred a little more zest in the Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, etc. I will give props to the freshly preapred beef short ribs -- they were great. But avoid the curry chicken -- it's way too creamy.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I were in the mood for buffet and wanted to try something new. After reading all the reviews for Lam Bo, we thought we were going to be in for a treat. Unfortunately, everything turned out to be a HUGE let down. The majority of the food was not very fresh and the seafood (particularly the crab dishes) seemed to have an odd pungent smell emanating from the buffet table. As a seafood lover, I tried it anyways and was very disappointed -- the crab was dry and devoid of flavor. Other seafood dishes were either overcooked or the same batch has been re-used for days. Even the sushi was lacking in quality. The only thing that I found edible was the spring rolls and the egg drop soup -- items that aren't hard to mess up. In terms of cleanliness, tables had loose food scattered about and I did not notice the restaurant staff changing out the food as often as I notice in other buffet restaurants (eg. China Bear). The wait staff, while initially helpful, seemed to become sullen and unhappy as the evening progressed. There wasn't much of a variety in desserts and there seemed to be a group of children huddled around the chocolate pudding stirring it with a spoon. The wait staff did not do anything to stop the children from proceeding with their game. I did not find anything worthwhile eating at this place. I highly recommend that diners by-pass this restaurant and spend their money elsewhere.

MY REVIEW: This is a very nice place to eat at. I've been here a couple of times with my boyfriend and I absolutely love it. They have like everything here (crawfish, shrimp, sushi, quesdilla, salad, kung pao chicken, soups, etc). My boyfriend is hot but there's this really cute guy that works there every Sunday. He is yummmier than the food there!!!

MY REVIEW: This has got to be the best buffet in HOUSTON!!! Very nice place and very affordable considering the different variety of food that they have. I rather pay 10 dollars for an all you can eat meal than to go to a place like O*live Garden and pay 15 for a plate of pasta that is not even filling. VERY GOOD

MY REVIEW: The food is average-at best !! Very noisy and chaotic. Yes, the price is right, however, you know the old saying, you get what you pay for ? Well, you get what you pay for !! Buffet plus tea and tip equals $10.00. Good price, wrong restaurant. Check out M*ayuri Indian Buffet. A little higher price, however, pretty damn good quality and freshness.
