MY REVIEW: Having eaten the lunch buffets at all 3 of Clear Lake's Indian buffet restaurants within a week, I think Cuisine of India wins a tight race.

This area is blessed with 3 good ones (the others are M*ogul and Bombay T*adka). Each has an item or two that sets it apart from the others, but I give the nod to C of I overall. And their price is the lowest by a dollar or two. The servers at C of I have been around longer and there are more of them.

The 3 are nicely decorated, pleasant restaurants--you can't go wrong with any of them--but if I have out of town guests, I'm taking them to C of I for the lunch buffet.

MY REVIEW: This is the best Indian food in the Clear Lake area by far! All of the dishes are perfectly seasoned. Wait staff is very attentive. Naan, Saag, Korma, all delicious! Big selection for all the vegetarians out there! If you've never tried Indian food, go there for lunch and sample the buffet. Try a little of everything . . . before you know it you will be hard pressed to pick a favorite . . . everything is so good! Will be back, again and again!

MY REVIEW: The food is excellent BUT they always "skimp" on the "naan". I have been going to this place for past 10 yrs...the food is good, service good but I have not understood WHY they do not provide the naan when the guest has brought their buffet plate to the table! My friends and I almost finished the veggies on the plate and were still waiting for Naan! Had to ask the waiter several times before he brought it to our table...Ob the buffet tray for naan was empty too! What is the big deal and ensuring there is a continuous supply of naan available when they know that is a must item on the menu! Why make the guests literally "beg" for naan?

MY REVIEW: There is a reason why this is the first Clear Lake buffet I take on whenever I fly back from my Long Island home to visit my homeland---the place has grown and changed with me. It has become one of the best examples of fusion cuisine I have encountered. The staff clearly understands that it's OK to change some things (ex. add a new eggplant dish & jalapeno-bbq tofu to the buffet) and a MUST to leave others (that decadent saag paneer, the smooth fish curry w/ perfectly-cooked fish, and the fragrant, chewy, moist, sinfully rich confection that is their carrot halwa. I order and eat 2 pounds of that every year on my annual TX visit! Plus, the staff are the same kind, generous, and intelligent people I remember from childhood. This restaurant is certainly a large part of my family's traditions, and its food has formed a large part of me!

MY REVIEW: I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I have been eating here since I was a young girl when the location was off of bay area. The food has never disappointed me. I have tried other Indian lunch buffets and nothing comes close to comparing to Cuisine of India. The food is spicey but not too spicey. If you haven't tried it you must. It is moderately priced, well worth it.

MY REVIEW: Today I had the lunch buffet. Couple days ago I tried the lunch buffet at a new Indian restaurant, B*ombay Tadka, just down the street from Cuisine of India.

This is probably the one that the previous reviewer was talking about. While my impression of B*ombay Tadka is more favorable than that review, I have to say the nod goes to Cuisine of India. They have the better buffet. Much better saag paneer. And today they had a new dish, not sure what the name is, but it's puree eggplant spiced up with curry---delicious over rice. Another of my favorites at Cuisine of India is black pepper mango chicken.

MY REVIEW: Great food, my favorite in the area. The service is wonderful and always very attentive. I tried a new Indian restaurant that opened recently near Cuisine of India and was very disappointed (greasy food and annoying waiter who kept offering us different food) and ended up getting sick afterward. Take my advice, stick to Cuisine of India!!

MY REVIEW: After an initial disorganization following the recent relocation the restaurant has found its feet again. The new premises are outstanding and the expanded buffet line is wonderful. I get to enjoy Indian cuisine often both in Houston and in England and can honestly rank Cuisine of India amongst the best for solid value, exciting dishes and absolute consistency in quality. We must have been there hundreds of times over the years and have never had a less than stellar meal.

MY REVIEW: This is our favorite restaurant. We love the people and the food is consistent and very very good. They also have a nice bar. The new location is beautiful, and close to JSC if you want to call in an order to pick up on the way home - as I'm doing now.

We go there both in the evenings and for the lunch buffet. They have the best lamb, and the spinach dishes are wonderful as well.

MY REVIEW: My hubby and I went to the lunch buffet at Cuisine of India largely based on the quality of reviews found on this website. While by no means bad, we didn't find the meal to be exceptional, as we had expected from the reviews. The staff was quite friendly and helpful and kept our beverages refilled (and naan replinished) without asking. The buffet choices were quite fine and ordinary and were regularly replenished. However, the food didn't leave me "ooohing and aaahing" as I often do when eating great Indian food. Apparently this restaurant is quite popular for lunch, as it was very crowded, and the feeling of being cramped into a small space may have caused us to have a less than stellar dining experience.

The one issue I have is with the set up of the payment line. Patrons line up to pay for the buffet at the register once they've finished eating, rather than having the server take payment from the table. The queue that forms to pay makes getting to the buffet line difficult when the restaurant is already crowded. Changing this practice might lead to a more relaxed dining experience for customers.

MY REVIEW: They have made the move to the building most recently occupied by G*reen Tomatoes Mexican Restaurant, about 1/4 mile west of their old location. They have done a fine job of remodeling, even changing the arches outside from round to more elliptical which is typical of Indian architecture.

As nice as the new space is, the real reason to stop in is the food. I have never been in the evening, but the lunch buffet is top-notch. Today I especially enjoyed a black pepper mango curry with chicken. Not sure of the name, but ladle that over the excellent basmatti rice and you have spicey goodness! They still serve flat bread hot from the oven.

The construction of NASA Road 1 is complete, but it's still a little tricky getting into and out of their parking lot. But worth it. A bunch of folks must agree, because @ 2pm the place was still about 1/3 occupied. By then some buffet items were getting a little thin. Something tells me they were packed @ noon. Not all selections were spicey, but I tend to gravitate to those that are. So I'm at the table with beads of sweat on my forehead, but I just could not lay my fork down! It's that GOOD!! I understand that once upon a time Texas Monthly named them one of the top 100 restaurants in the state. Pretty high praise.

MY REVIEW: I know very little about Indian food, but after reading good reviews I decided to try the noon buffet. Interesting explosions of spices and varied levels of heat! Really enjoyed their buffet even though most of the time I had no idea what was the name of the dishes I was eating. I just know I liked everything. Especially saag paneer (that name I know) and their long grain rice are special.

Water glass never went empty---good thing because some of the dishes had a bit of a kick (in a good way). Bread was served at the table warm from the oven. I've been eating so much Middle Eastern food lately (love it) that Indian cuisine today was a nice change.

MY REVIEW: Good service, my glass was never empty. Buffet selection was a little limited. There wasn't any naan at the buffet. Although they brought each table some fresh from the oven. Saag Paneer was excellent.

MY REVIEW: I am an Indian but its my non-Indian colleagues who are addicted to the Indian foods. They need the taste every few weeks and we often end up going to Cuisine of India. Not only is their food and service great but it is also one of the most reasonably priced Indian buffets in town - and these days everyone is price sensitive.

Cuisine of India has an excellent choice of tastefully prepared dishes - not too hot and not too mild, just the right balance of spices. Starting with a good choice of fritters and a couple of pieces of tandoori chicken for starters, followed by some curry and naan, with rice and curries winding up the main courses - all dishes are fresh and the quality is consistent.

A few times the kheer is ok for dessert but the gulab-jamuns are exceptional. The staff is always courteous and attentive. But back to the food - ah, what a delight, especially my friends just wait for the next chance to get some Indian grub!

MY REVIEW: Overall, this restaurant was very good. The service was attentive, and the food was great, for most part. I regret not ordering any naan, because I wanted to save room for pistachio ice cream. So, I can't review that. The jalfrazie was some of the best I've ever had. I'd highly recommend that. I was a little disappointed in the tikka masala though. It wasn't bad, it was just kinda plain. I had the chicken tikka masala, and it arrived cold with very few pieces of chicken swimming in a very thin sauce. Again, it didn't taste bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting. So, I just ate from my fiance's jalfrazie plate instead. Portions were just right otherwise. The pistachio ice cream was very very good. Overall, a good experience. I can't wait to go for lunch and try the buffet.
