Profile Description: Cafe Lili is a small mom and pop restaurant. We opened in 1991. We take great pride in offering Houston fresh delicious food in a spotless restaurant. Our goal- we want to improve every day. Our best complement- when our guests say this is just like mom or grandma used to make.

MY REVIEW: We ate at Cafe Lili this past Saturday and although the food was excellent, the service was terrible. Not only did the waitress forget to bring our Hummus appetizer, but when after 30 minutes of ordering and still seeing no signs of our main meal, I asked our waitress when we would be receiving our entrees. She rudely snapped at me to "be patient! It will come soon". In contrast, she was welcoming and quite friendly with people who appeared to be regulars. After we finished eating, our dirty plates languished on our table until another waitress noticed and picked them up. It took forever to get the check and we finally went up the counter to sign our credit card receipt instead of having to wait for her to bring them. Needless to say, no tip for her as we received no service.

Clearly Cafe Lili has its regulars who seem to receive extraordinarily attentive service. However, the waitstaff needs to realize that their non-regulars also have a right to expect their correct order, courteous service, food served in a timely manner, etc...

MY REVIEW: My friend knows the family that runs this place and took me along once and I must say the place is very nice. The resturant is kept clean, and the family that runs it is always around and service is great. The food is fresh and tastes great plus the turkish coffee at the end is a great plus!

MY REVIEW: Friday lunch....what a fabulous little place. Excellent service and food. It's obviously a family run business. As for dishes, the Kafta and Shawarma Chicken were both excellent. The side salad could have been a meal in it's own. In the words of Arnold "I'll be back"

MY REVIEW: Some of the best Lebanese food I've had in Houston! The falafel is excellent, as are many of the other appetizers we tasted. Definitely try the coconut cookies if they are available...they are delicious!!

MY REVIEW: My cousin took me here; she is a frequenter, and now I know why. We are Lebanese and skeptical of any Lebanese food NOT made by a member of the family. Well, Cafe Lili, welcome to the family. The kibbi nayeh was smooth as silk with subtle yet pungent flavors. The grape leaves were beautiful and a perfect balance of meat, rice, and spice. Everything we tried was excellent, and the coffee with cardamon ended the meal perfectly. Next to family, Cafe Lili is the best reason to go to Houston.

MY REVIEW: Sooo Gooood. Sooo Gooood. Sooo Gooood. I kept repeated that all the way back to Austin. I usually would not order a mainly meat entree at a restaurant because it just doesn't really appeal to me, but the meat...was sooo gooood.

MY REVIEW: Cafe Lili is a great place to eat AUTHENTIC LEBANESE FOOD. It serves the BEST LEBANESE FOOD in HOUSTON. We try to eat there at least several times a month. GREAT HOSPITALITY!! A family member is always on hand to greet you warmly, and make you feel welcome. Dining is available outside as well as indoors. The restaurant is decorated with photos of famous sites of Lebanon and family photos and memorabilia. Our favorite appetizers are tabbouleh, stuffed grape leaves, cucumber salad, hummus, baba ghannouj and spinach pies. A sampler plate which includes most favorites is available. All dinner entrees on the menu are fresh and delicious, and daily specials (printed on a chalk board outside the restaurant) are superb. The cardamon flavored turkish coffee served by "Pop" Bejjani is the best!! We recommend the Rice Pudding or Baklava for dessert. Cafe Lili also does catering. All our guests enjoyed the food which made our party a great success!

MY REVIEW: OUTSTANDING...without a doubt the best arabic restaurant in HOUSTON... everything I eat here reminds me of my Beautiful Lebanese Grandmother (Suto) God rest her sole...!!! Her hands were blessed and she cooked authentic dishes from the old country and nothing ever came close untill Cafe Lili... I highly recommend anyone to try this wonderful restaurant...there stuffed grape leaves are SUPERB and they are made correctly...not like all those other places and there soggy oily squishy so called stuffed grape leave...!!! Fried Cauliflower, Humus, Tabouli, Stuffed Kibbi, Grape Leaves, and sliced onions and tomato's with lots of arabic bread is the meal I recommend you order...trust me that combination of foods will take your taste buds to Heaven at Cafe Lili-(I LOVE THIS PLACE)...!!!

MY REVIEW: I grew up eating Lebanese food at home and the food from Cafe Lili is the best restaurant food I've ever had. The salads, stuffed grape leaves, kebobs, and date cookies are wonderful.I also loved the family and cozy environment.

MY REVIEW: Although I have already written one review about this restaurant, I felt compelled to put in another because no one has mentioned the best dessert; Baklava! After trying Cafe Lili, I expanded my pallet and tried other foods, and desserts. I love Baklava, and decided to try Cafe Lili's version today, it surpassed all my expectations. By far the best in Houston. Made with honey, walnuts, and sprinkled with pistachios, it has a delicate sweet flavor that is unmatched! They never fail to please!

MY REVIEW: After reading reviews of Cafe Lili, my husband and I had to try it. We drove down from Tomball last night and the food was worth the trip. We arrived early for dinner, around 5:30pm, and were greeted at the door by the owner's son. Table service begins a bit later, so we placed our order and were escorted to our seats where the owner delivered our first course personally.

The chard and lentil soup was delightful, light and savory. We shared the sampler platter as an appetizer and found each morsel uniquely seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a variety of spices. The stuffed grape leaves were so good we took an order to go.

Our entrees were generous and delicious, and although we were too full to finish, we packed the leftovers to go and allowed ourselves to be persuaded to try the fresh-from-the-oven coconut macroons and Lebonese coffee. DELICIOUS! We will definitely visit again and recommend this place highly.

MY REVIEW: We've been coming here for at least 15 years and it's now my teenage girls favorite place to eat. Great kafta kabobs, chicken and rice, and the best grape leaves in town. Plenty of pita, great pickled turnips to start. And, the owner coming around with the lovely turkish coffee, even for my girls, wins our hearts every time.

MY REVIEW: This was my first visit, but I was impressed! I am not one to really try exotic foods, but I was convinced by a co-worker to try it, and what I had was wonderful! I highly recommend the Chicken Kabob Sandwich, but be warned, this is NOT a date food! Lots of garlic and herbs were used, which I love, but you may want to have a stick of gum for later. There are many other dishes that, according to the menu, are date appropriate though! Happy eating!

MY REVIEW: I second the sampler plate and the beef shawerma sandwich with tahini. Chicken kabobs are another favorite. Prices are really reasonable, including wine, and I like that people are greeted by the owners. This is a great lunch place with plenty of parking, good prices and great service.

MY REVIEW: We found the atmoshpere to be both pleasant and authinic. The food was excellent! It had a lot of similarities to Greek cusine, but was also unique. The service was fast and efficient, the food was freshly prepared and the owner was pleasant and nice to talk to. The Lebanese coffee, at the end of the meal, was superb.

We will be back and can easily recommend this one as a restaurant you will want to add to your list.

MY REVIEW: The best compliment I can give "CAFE LILI" restaurant is to describe the way I felt after I left the place. I left feeling like I just ate something very special. I left feeling satisfied and welcomed. I left feeling like I did not pay enough for that wonderful perfectly cooked and exquisitely spiced food I ate. I left feeling so good inside that I could not wait to be back for more. And finally I believe that we all should feel that way when we leave a restaurant but unfortunately not many restaurants make us feel this good. CAFE LILI thank you from the bottom of my heart because your food is cooked from the heart and it is truly "food for the soul."

MY REVIEW: All the reviews mention the freshness and cleanliness because it's remarkable. This was my first visit so I won't belabour the point and describe what others have that I also tasted and enjoyed. I loved the pickled turnips. I tasted both rices, vermicelli rice and the darker rice served with the fish. Both were good but the darker rice had a wonderful spiciness. The food isn't overspiced as I expected it would be. It's flavorful and spicy but the fish and beef flavors are what comes through. The (large) chicken kabob salad with feta cheese is delicious and their house dressing, like a vinaigrette, is so good I'm imagining it on other dishes. I'll be back regularly!

MY REVIEW: I've been back. This place is still great. I'm going to add it to my stable of restaurants in my eating rotation. Still very clean and incredibly fresh. No complaints at all this visit, and I really did enjoy the Lebanese wine we had. I see that it is getting more popular, but we were still seated immediately.

MY REVIEW: There isn't anything in this place that I do not like. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and cheerful, and the food is super fresh and delicious. The falafel is some of the best that I have ever eaten. The atmosphere is nice. It's not too loud or crowded, and there is some seating outside. In my opinion, there isn't a downside to Cafe Lili.

MY REVIEW: This was my first visit. We really enjoyed it. The food IS fresh, and that seems to be the focus. I had the schwerma plate with hummus and tahini sauce and my girlfriend had the 1/2 chicken kebob with garlic sauce. Both were excellent! I have one mild complaint... my schwerma (hope my spelling is right) needed something aside from hummus to complete it. Maybe that rice with the little vermicelli noodles in it? (I borrowed some of my girlfriend's.) A touch of excellent tabouli? I also wound up using our pita for my part of the meal, making "tacos" with the meat and hummus and sauce. Maybe I was carb-deficient. The taste was excellent, and I was surprised that it wasn't as spicy as other middle eastern places (but I realize that different regions have different culinary preferences). The date cookies for dessert were very rich and very enjoyable. The Lebanese coffee has enough cinnamon to make itself known, but is not overpowering.

Service was very friendly, and very attentive. Our waitress was cheery and enthusiastic! Prices were good. For the largest sampler platter, two entrees, two desserts, a glass of wine, and a Lebanese coffee, our bill was under $37.

We're going back!

MY REVIEW: Wow! This place has fantastic food! Service was very good and friendly; portions were good-sized but not too much. Food was so flavorful and fresh-tasting. I'd definitely go back again. The cucumer salad was cold and refreshing. I had a very flavorful dish of little beef strips, with chopped herbs on top. Very Atkins-friendly, too, if you're into that. Can't wait to go back.
