Annie's Hamburgers

MY REVIEW: I grew up in West University before it was Yuppyville. I owned my first home in Bellaire, then one in Maplewood, and finally moved out to Sugar Land. I still believe that the best homemade burger I've had besides my own is from Annie's. I've been a customer for years. I try to pick up a couple every time I go visit my mom in Bellaire, as a matter of fact I'm having one for lunch today. I will continue to drive to Annie's as long as I'm able. The burger isn't made until it's ordered, all the fixins' are fresh and I have always been satisfied with the amount of food for the dollar. I share an order of fries with the entire family as there are so many! The onion rings and lemonade are worth trying as well.

MY REVIEW: I have lived in Westbury since 1997 when I was 18 and have driven by this place at least 5 times a week for 11 years but never once went in until a Sunday in April of 08. The favorable reviews got me wanting to check it out. I ordered a single burger with fries to go for $7 and some change. The staff was friendly and the order was ready in under 5 minutes. What I liked about the sitting area was it looks like it is from the 70s. They didn'try to make it seem hip and cool with granite counter tops and mood lighting. In the corner they have a Bose wave radio from the mid 90s playing easy listening music. People who love S*tarbucks will hate this place if you get what I mean.
The food was okay; not outstanding like some people say. YES it is better than chain burger joints but for $7 I was expecting better. The fries look to be Linden Farms frozen shoe string fries you can buy in any grocery store for 99 cents a bag. Annie's is generous with the quantity of fries they give you but $2 and some change is kind of high.
The burger was very good. They used crisp lettuce that lacks the chemical taste found in grocery store lettuce. Their onions have a sweet taste to them that is very nice. The patty of the burger is very juicy and lacks the chunks of fat texture to them.
I would advise someone driving by or a long time resident of this area to stop in and check it out but I don't advise someone driving over 30 minutes to get to this place. I will be going back to try other items.

MY REVIEW: I went here after numerous recommendations. Not sure how it has gotten the reputation it has. Pre-formed frozen patties, bacon that sits on huge trays and was probably 2 hours old. Old lettuce and tomatoes.....this place has a quality control issue. If you think this place is great you should venture away from home a little more.

MY REVIEW: OMG, This is BY FAR the BEST place to get a burger loaded with cheese, jalapenos, bacon, etc... There is just the right mix of special ingredients to hit that perfect, and yet so tender spot in your tummy that is totally satisfying. To the guy below that states it was precooked...I think you might be mistaken and ate at your Aunt Annies because you were certainly not at this fine institution. I make it here for lunch quite often, and more so for Breakfast on Sunday mornings. I have NEVER, EVER had a bad meal, a bad experience, or a bad time in this place. Hats off to the wonderful ladies at Annies...you make all of us living in Westbury very happy!!!!

MY REVIEW: I'm sorry but the response below me is 95% false. Juicy burger wanted states that he had a "cold thin patty with cold bacon,,, cold slightly greasy O rings." First of all bacon doesn't stay hot for too long so it's expected to get to room temperature. Second thing you stated was that you had cold onion rings. There is no way that your order was cold. All the food made there is made to right after you order it. I'm surprised that you didn't burn your lips on them. Then you wrote "I now know that everything is precooked." You are flat out lying about that. In all my years of visiting Annies nothing ever has been precooked and I've been going there for 15 years. Microwave? There is no microwave!
However I do agree with you that the lemonade is icey, but isn't there refills? Too lazy to get up?
For all who are reading these post and see this guy's comments ignore him. He is straight lying.

MY REVIEW: Today I had a craven for a thick juicy burger. I checked this site reviewed Annie's read some good things, realized I have not been there in quite a while. I also went there when it had another name. I went there as Annie for Breakfast many times.
Maybe something changed. I was very disappointed. I was looking for a 100% all beef homemade type burger dripping with juice with every bite, made to order. Instead I got a more bread than meat, cold thin patty with cold bacon, cheese with J peppers and cold slightly greasy O rings. Washed down with Lemon Aid a bit too strong and mostly crushed ice. All for $9.00
My order was up before I could find a place to sit down, I now know that everything is precooked. I now know why the microwave was within the customers reach. I think it was much better back in the day, could be wrong. B*K would have been better and cost much less.

MY REVIEW: I used to work nearby and last ate their burgers for lunch about 17 years ago... until this past weekend. I decided to go with my wife, who'd never been there, and was happily reminded of how good the burgers are. Plenty of good fries to go along with it. My wife constantly asks me when we'll be back :). This is my new favorite burger place!

MY REVIEW: I'm an "old guy" (44). I've been eating at Annie's since the day they opened (then it was known as L*uke's). Flame-broiled hamburgers (they way it should be, IMHO) are ALWAYS excellent. Excellent fries (no skimping either). I think the key word here is "value", i.e. what you GET for your money. 5 stars on value. I live in League City now, but occasionally I'm in the neighborhood. And I ALWAYS stop in. You should too.

MY REVIEW: Really tasty burgers and the city's BEST french fries. Good thing they're so generous with the fries - you *could* actually share an order, but splurge and get one each. The lemonade is also exceptional.

MY REVIEW: Great burgers and SUPER breakfast!!! I stop to pick up breakfast several times a week. I am very disappointed they have changed their hours for breakfast. From now on they will be open for breakfast only on Thursday through Sunday. There hours will be the same otherwise.

MY REVIEW: Very good burgers! I love this non-corporate restaurant.
You should know that they serve "thin" burgers. If you don't like that style you won't like Annie's.
My one complaint is that they close so early (7pm) I can't go there as often as I'd like.

MY REVIEW: Burgers are pretty good - not the best I've had, but in the top 10. Chicken sandwiches are really good, but breakfast, by far, is the BEST!!!! Great french toast and bacon (#7). Great staff, too!!!

MY REVIEW: It was very good as far as the homecooking market goes. I liked the fresh cooking and the friendly staff. They close pretty early but that's just fine by me. A nice fresh not off the assembly line burger great change of pace.

MY REVIEW: Me and a relative of mine constantly argue about who has the best burgers in Houston. Annies has not only over whemingly big hamburgers but they have good fries and onion rings too. I live about 15 miles away from this place and there are about a good 3O fast food hamburger joints in between us,, and i refuse to eat at any other hamburger place if its not annies. Man , you know what im going there tommorow!!!

MY REVIEW: I love a good burger and the bacon cheeseburger at Annie's is hard to beat. The breakfast is excellent but even then, I opt for a bacon cheeseburger. We might go somewhere else for a while, but we always come back to Annie's.

MY REVIEW: This was the worst hamburger experience I have ever had. Someone has to know that these burgers aren't good. From the crispy, dry tasteless bacon to the thin pre-cooked dry burgers, this place was awful. The best thing I had was a brownie and I probably could have cooked that at home with a box mix. I can't figure how someone could think these burgers were good unless they really had not had a good burger.

MY REVIEW: Hamburgers are terrific. Nothing fancy but true to what you want in a great hamburger. The place is not a dive but kinda rusctic to add to the nice burger and fries.
The shakes are excellent. Kids can have a good time and want to go back. Ice cold Lemonade hits the spot on a hot Houston day.
Neighborhood is off the beaten track but not too far off. I like the place alot and consider it one if not the best burger joints in Houston. Definitely worth a trip to South Post Oak location.

MY REVIEW: I've been going to annie's for as long as I can remember and ate there at least 3 to 4 times a week in highschool. They have the best, juiciest burgers and their opnion rings are terrific. The service is so friendly...especially when you're lucky enough to get Annie herself to take your order. Everyone I've taken to Annie's becomes a regular customer no matter how long the drive.

MY REVIEW: Best burger I've ever had and the best breakfast I've ever had. Menu is limited, but you couldn't hope for anything better than their bacon chesseburger. Breakfast boasts biscuits bigger than your fist, hot and fluffy. Service is outstanding - been going here for 20 years and they've never gotten my order wrong once. Not in the best neighborhood (I know - I grew up there) and is very low-key (both inside and out), but take a chance and you'll be rewarded.

MY REVIEW: Great Burgers that is what got us going here, but they also have a great breakfast. Pancakes are as big as the plate. Biscuits bigger than I have ever seen. You've got to see them for yourself
