Food

Hunan (CLOSED)

1800 Post Oak Blvd Houston TX

MY REVIEW: After looking at Citysearch, we decided to check out Hunan. We have lived in China for a year, but do not expect Chinese food to be "authentic" outside of China. However, there are limits. The duck was not shredded but cut into gooselike slices, it tasted old fat, and the cucumber was not sliced bit divided into four chunks together with WHOLE spring onions. Goes well with the rubbery crepes size chinese pancakes, I suppose. The gong bao chicken was a bland joke. If an ornamental wall is enough to make you feel you are having a Chinese meal, than go ahead. As I left I talked Chinese with one of the Chinese men in the reception area , and I said the food wasnt very Chinese.

He said: If you want Chinese food, go to China. I suppose he has a point, but Shangahi Joes in Galleria at least serves a mean chicken gong bao.

MY REVIEW: Hunan is quite upscale and the food is great. There is this amazing bronze wall art that is unbelievable and they have a hand carved wooden wall that is truly elegant. If I lived a little closer I would be a regular. Try the Spicy Crispy Fish. Yum.
