Allie's American Grille - Houston Airport Marriott

MY REVIEW: My friend had a 3-hour layover at IAH. I was more than happy to meet him there to spend some time visiting. Allie's is conveniently located in the Marriott off the inter-terminal tram. We each had a burger - prepared just how we ordered them. The sweet potato fries were a joy to see included on the menu; the regular fries were full of hearty potato taste. The iced tea was fresh and the refills were timely. It's not the fanciest place in town - but our waitress Cristina was friendly and the food was tasty. Honestly, it was the company I shared there that made this place perfect. Thanks Marriott!

MY REVIEW: Today my friend had a 4 hour layover at the airport, so I dropped by to see her. We wanted to eat, but all the restaurants were on the other side of the security barrier. When I asked an airline employee if there was anything, he suggested the Marriott. So we took the airport train to the hotel and then took the elevator to something called "Allie's Grille." It turned out to be this restaurant that is one floor below the lobby, but one floor above the airport train. Which might explain why it was almost totally empty. You would never go there unless you were looking for is. Which was great for us! The employees were friendly and helpful, and our food was excellent. I had the club sandwich and my friend had the filet mignon. They gave us a generous basket of assorted breads with a large tub of whipped butter while we waited. The prices were reasonable, and the menu is posted outside if you are not sure if you'll like what they have. But like the name says, it's American food. Nothing unusual. I'm glad I found out about this place! If I'm ever in the airport and want to have a real meal in a quiet location, I'm going straight back to this place.
