MY REVIEW: It was my first visit and we were celebrating a birthday. The service was great and the food was very good. Out desserts were free for the birthdays, which was a nice comp! My only complaint is that I only ate 1/2 of my 14 oz steak, intending to eat the rest the next day at home. Another dinner at the table also had quite a lot left and we asked to have all the steak boxed for us. When we got home and opened up the box the next day, only one of our steaks had been included. This would not be a big deal if it were a cheaper, more casual place. But there was 20$ worth of good steak left on my plate. I was very clear in my request and I would have eaten the rest that night had I not been expecting to enjoy the leftovers the next day. As expensive as this place is, if I'm laying down that kind of money, I want to get what I'm playing for!!!

MY REVIEW: I've been eating at Pappas Bros. for about 11 years, but tonight my wife and I decided it's time to find a new steak place. The chief problem is inconsistency. Sometimes the food is phenomenal, but other times it's really bad. Yet they charge you for a phenomenal meal every time. The service is slipping (tonight it was WAY off--forgotten orders, etc.), and the managers have lost their way with customers and their commitment to perfection. From time to time, we may stop in for dessert, which is consistently good. But I think I'm done with their steak. I'm a little sad it's come to this, but so is life.

MY REVIEW: I write this after dropping significant dollars at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for a nice dinner, but one that was not worthy of the price we paid. Our waiter was pleasant and we looked forwards to a great evening, but the first sign of a "not perfect evening" was when the somelier couldn't open the bottle of wine at the table. She went to the back and brought it out decanteured. Then she began to pour the new wine into our current glasses which stil had wine from our first bottle! We had to ask for new glasses. Then our gumbo was to be topped with sherry which they forgot to serve (we had to ask for that), and one of the steaks were overcooked and had to be redone. The redone steak was cooked too fast and was tough.
Oh well! Now we did have a nice evening, but for what we paid we expected flawless service. I will say the side dishes were fabulous and the filets and the ribeyes were amazing! And the pecan pie was definitely worth the calories.
With so many steakhouses in Houston, this will not be on our short list--we gave it a try, but they have been scratched.

MY REVIEW: I love steak and I have to admit, I go to every new restaurant that comes to town. But I only do so to compare to my favorite place which is Pappas Bros. No one has beaten them in my opinion. They are the best every time.
The best thing about this place in addition to the food, of course, is the attention to detail and how conscientious, thorough, and diligent they are from the managers down to the busboys. Its almost surreal how perfect they can be. My last experience was just that...It was my wife's birthday and our experience was great from the minute we walked in the door until the end with a complimentary dessert for the occasion! The waiter made sure it was perfect, as he acknowledged this occasion from the beginning. Truely remarkable. Highly recommended place for those who have never been. Ask for Paul for your server if possible; a true professional that knows what he's doing.

MY REVIEW: Service: Very good.
Food: Steak - the fillet was only fair, and under cooked. Onion rings were not good - underdone and too big to easily eat. Asperagus was good. Shrimp was better than average, but cocktail sauce was bland. Lobster tail was a little tough, but tasty. Bacon wrapped scallops were great, but a bit expensive, and too much bacon for my dinner friend, but I liked it very much.
Drinks were very good, but expensive. Grey Goose drink was $12. Fresh squeezed grapefruit was wonderful. Waiter took my drink from the table before it I was finished with it (about half consumed).
Ambiance: Good, but a bit busy.

MY REVIEW: The service at Pappas was excellent during our most recent visit. The crab cakes were some of the best in Houston. However, I do not agree about the steaks. The quality of the meat is good, but the way it is cooked is not. I don't know of the broiler is not hot enough, but we cook a better steak at home. I felt as though it had been just fried in a skillet. The is the same way we felt when we dined at Pappas a few years ago, but we thought we would give it another try. For a great steak go to R*uth Chris.

MY REVIEW: This is definitely a prime steak place! The parking is easy with the complimentary valet service. Also, the restaurant is comfortable and a good place to visit with friends. The service of the waiters and the staff was excellent. Food is the best reason to go. We had a large strip which we split which offered everthing a steak should. The tomatoes and onions were the best. Also, the asparagus was top notch. For desert we had key lime pie which was enough for 4 but 2 of us ate it all! The experience at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse exceded our expectations and we will return.

MY REVIEW: To sum up my review about Papas Bros. Steakhouse is "WOW".
My husband and I tries to eat at Papas Bros Steakhouse at least once a year. The 2,600+ miles commute from San Francisco to this restaurant just tells everyone that the food is really "WOW".

MY REVIEW: This is definitely a top 5 steakhouse in Houston. We had crab cakes and bacon-wrapped scallops to start. Crab cakes were perfect, with huge chunks of very fresh crab meat (very little filler, but well spiced) in a delicious sauce. The garlic toast the scallops rest on made the dish, and the scallops were perfectly cooked. The wedge salad was solid, but unremarkable.
My ribeye was slighlty undercooked from the medium I ordered, but I'd prefer that to overcooked anyday. My guests's filet looked perfect. The were plainly but effectively seasoned (salt, pepper, butter). The "Moonpie" for dessert was terrific.
One complaint, with 7:45 reservations, we weren't seated until almost nine. 30 minutes seemed standard. The manager, Alan, came and apologized. We were pleasantly surprised to find not only appetizers, but also salad and dessert compt. Problem solved, although I didn't get home until 11:15 on a school night. EAT AT PAPPAS BROS. NO REGRETS.

MY REVIEW: I have no idea where the negative reviews are coming from--this is by far the best steakhouse in Houston. The food is excellent and the service is very professional. If there's a better steakhouse in Houston, please write about in this website. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is GREAT!!!!

MY REVIEW: Well, after reading all the great reviews, we decided that after all these years, we need to try Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Major league disappointment.
Our reservations were not handled appropriately and although the the ambience was nice enough, the food was improperly cooked for both of us.
I had a New York Strip, ordered medium-well, that came to me rare. When I asked them to cook it for a few additional minutes, I got it back extremely well done to the point of being burnt black.
The service was spotty and while not arrogant, the waiter acted as if it was an additional effort to answer our questions. We won't eat here again.

MY REVIEW: There is no better service in Houston TX. There isn't a more extensive wine list here either. And, I'm sure I've had a tasty 2.5 lb lobster somewhere else on earth... but never had I one this perfect. A+++ all-round. First class. Money well spent.

MY REVIEW: This is my favorite restaurant on the Planet Earth! Must-haves include the potatoes au gratin and the onion rings. The 10-ounce strip bar entree is a real bargain as far as upper-end steak houses go. If there's any problem at all, be sure to ask for Don or Brian and they'll make it right.

MY REVIEW: This is one of the best dining experiences to be had (I should note most of my many visits have been to the Dallas location). Aside from all the wonderful things noted here. I want to emphasize the Lobster Bisque, which is not on all the menus but I believe is available most of time off menu (definitely in Dallas location). My experiences were so worth repeating, I have have frequently stopped by while in town on business to pick up a to-go order of the Lobster Bisque. They always include fresh bread and it makes for a wonderful dinner at the end of a long travel day!

MY REVIEW: The last time I visited this restaurant, the hostess sat us down in the very last table in the back of the restaurant; in a corner. I felt like I was being punished. When I requested to be relocated, she said there were no more tables available and I should have told them I wanted a table in the main dining room. Maybe they should have asked me if I wanted a tabe in the corner when I walked in. Rude service and given little consideration as a customer. There are far better steakhouses in Houston that would enjoy having my business.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I have a new HIGH END restaurant--Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. What a beautiful dining experience. From start to finish, we were TOTALLY pleased. I had made a reservation via Internet for 6:00 p.m for Saturday night. Unfortunately, my feeble mind left me, and I thought I had made the resversation for 7:00 p.m. Of course, I didn't realize this until about 5:30 p.m. I called the restaurant and re-booked for 7:00 p.m. The hostess said that with it being Saturday night, we might have to wait for a short while with such a short notice of re-booking. Fine. On our arrival--the short while was exactly that-a SHORT WHILE--maybe 8 minutes at the most. We were seated in a very relaxing, comfortable dining room, and withing 5 minutes, our server arrived to advise us of the specials (which he had GREAT knowledge of). We already knew of our menu, as I had requested a menu to be faxed to my house, which the hostess did with no hesitation.
We started with the scallops wrapped in bacon--DELICIOUS--my wife then had the tomato basil soup, and I had the house salad. Both of these selections were PERFECT. For my entree, I selected the 12 oz. filet prepared with pepper corn and pepper corn sauce. My side was the skillet potatoes. My wife chose the 6 oz. filet with mashed potatoes. My steak was maybe the best prepared steak I have ever had. My wife was equally pleased with her choice. For dessert, we chose the hot peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream accompanied by coffee. We will DEFINITELY go back, and from gretting to departure via Valet parking, the night was a TOTAL SUCCESS.

MY REVIEW: We were back! The steak, lobster and deserts are as good as it gets. Strong points: food, food and food. Restroom immaculately clean. Service friendly and cheerful. Specialties: Steaks sooo tender and juicy; Lobster fresh and sweet; Deserts are to die for...heavenly. Weak points too far away from San Francisco, CA.

MY REVIEW: Although "everybody knows my name", this is deffinately not the best steak restaurant in town. I truly don't know what the big deal is with this place. I have eaten there many many many many times, and nothing in this restaurant impresses me.
The menu never changes. I mean-for 7 years, the menu hasn't changed. IT'S ALWAYS THE SAME. Sure, they have some specials, which are usually a mix of a small lobster and a small fillet-but nothing really special. Whan I eat there, I am the 2 appetizer eater because their steaks are just hunks of meat and are nothing special. I can go to Central Market and buy a piece of meat, ignore it, not spice it-just throw it on a grill and cook it. It will be better than Pappas. Nothing special.
The sides- onion rings are great. So are the potatoes lyonaise (or something like that) Desserts are great. always look at the tray. God-i could pick 2!!!
Also, the service usually leaves much to be desired. It is really hit or miss. I have been basically ignored throughout dinner before. When I order a couple bottles of $300 wine, i don't want to be forgotten. Seems to be the norm at Pappas.
Honestly, I don't know why we continue to go to this place. There are much better places in town.

MY REVIEW: We decided to go there for our 9th wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed. The steaks were the best we've ever tasted. The lobster tail was so tender and juicy. This is the best place to go for that special dinner.

MY REVIEW: The service was impeccable. The food was to die for (especially the lump crab cakes). Wine, dessert, cognac, and coffee to finish off the meal were also all top-notch. They even dressed up my husband's coconut cream pie to be a festive birthday treat.
What an excellent dining experience! We will definitely be back on our next special occasion!

MY REVIEW: I have lived in Boston, Las Vegas, Anaheim, San Diego, Atlanta, Key West, Dallas and on Maui and have never experienced a restaurant, of any kind, like Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. From Don, the General Manager, to the valet parker, by the way it's free, everyone is professional, knowledgable and most of all friendly. I have visited many times and have always been able to, according to my clients tastes, ask the waiter for a suggestion concerning wine or champagne choices. They have hit the mark every time...! I have heard people say how "pricey" it is but let me tell you, it is worth every dollar you pay.
Working downtown, I have been to Vic and A*nthony's and will always make the drive down Westheimer to pay a premium for the best food, service and atmosphere. It's like shopping at Neiman's or Central Market, you know you are getting the best...!!

MY REVIEW: We are from San Francisco CA. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is the best restaurant ever! Excellent food and desert! In my opinion this restaurant is better than the world renowned French L*aundry in Napa (3 months reservation). Quoting the governator of California, Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger "I'LL BE BACK".
The 2.0" thick steak just melted in my mouth. A different kind of pecan cake...it has a layer of thin caramel wafer and vanilla bean ice cream.
Excellent food! Excellent service! Excellent restroom!

MY REVIEW: Many years I have driving by this restaurant but never thought of trying it until I was on a plane and the guy next to me said " I go to Houston just to Dine at Pappas Bros", hmmmmmmmmm I said to myself ... have never been there. I eat out alot and love going to C*apital Grille, F*lemmings, etc... So I thought of checking it out this weekend.... all I can say is " WWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOWWW"
The place is beautiful, the restaurant is huge, the staff is professional and friendy and the food is GREAT! I have always thought that with the bread you can tell if it's a good restaurant. The bread was the best I've ever had, and the food not to say a word! The shrimp bisque which was the soup of the day was outstanding, so was the cesar salad, the steak, the creme brule... all in one! If you have never been here before you will love it!

MY REVIEW: Yes, Pappa Brother's has the best steak in town. You can see that in reviews of other restaurants, but in this case it IS TRUE. More importantly, all of the food is fabulous. Their sweet perfectly prepared lobster, yummy side dishes (try the mushrooms), desserts, and even things as simple as the salad dressing (avacado ranch) are THE BEST. The service is matchless. The waiters are well trained and there are several managers on hand to make sure all is well at all times. We have never had any problems with the food or service. At times the restaurant can be a bit loud (large parties on expense accounts can hinder a couple's romantic dinner). The restaurant is always busy. However, the few times we have asked to be moved to a more quiet spot we have been IMMEDIATELY and graciously accomodated no matter how crowded the restaurant. Most important is the CONSISTENCY of the food and service. Yes it is pricey, but we are NEVER disappointed. The food is ALWAYS surpurb and we are ALWAYS treated like royalty. Infrequently we decide that perhaps we should try different upscale restaurants as a change of pace but nothing compares.
If you read the rest of the Pappa Brother's reviews provided here you will not find one complaining about the food. Those who complain that the personnel are "snooty" or "aloof" are either just inexperienced in fine dining or just have a chip on their shoulder. The ambience is meant to be sophisticated. All of the staff are professional. If you want some little perky twit smacking gum to seat you, go to C*hili's. As far as reservations go, we have never had to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes to be seated. The only way restaurants that are are busy as Pappa Brother's could guarantee a "to the minute" reservation is if they rushed their patrons to clear tables. They are above that.
Thank you Pappa Brothers, we love you!

MY REVIEW: This past weekend was our 1st experience with Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, and I can describe it with one word. "Exceptional" The service was exemplory. The food was great truly the best steak that I have ever eaten. My girlfriend got the Salmon, which she has gotten at other places on several occastion, and she too said that it was the best she had ever had bar none. The deserts were also truly amazing. I usually am not one to spend that much on a meal, but I left there felling like I had gotten my moneys worth and then some.
