Napoli's Restaurant & Pizza

MY REVIEW: My boyfriend and I went to Napoli on Jones Road for the very first time this evening. The food was good, and they have Peroni beer on draft too which is good. The prices are average. However...the reason we may not return there was the service. The good wait staff must have been elsewhere because the lady who waited on us was very slow. Then to make matters worst one of their waitresses was chatting up the table behind us. This girl spent most of her time talking while the other people did all the work. I really felt sorry for the middle aged lady who seemed to be doing all the work while this young lady continued to chat up the couple or should I say the man who was sitting behind us. She gave this guy the whole story about how her community college professor was so unfair about the grades she was given. Honestly! If I were her prof or her boss I would give her the boot! In this economy it can't be all that hard to find another loser like her!

MY REVIEW: I love this place. Been going here (off and on) for years. I live about 50 miles away, and lost track of it. Found it the other day. It has not changed one iota in the many years I've been there. Sounds strange, but I never look at street signs and lost my markers to get there, and just re-discovered it.
Great pizza! I've never had anything bad here. The house Chianti is great too!

MY REVIEW: We have enjoyed Napoli's for the past 25 years. Family Favorite and not to be missed meal when friends and family visit. Calzones are without compare! Pizza is top notch! Take out is appreciated. I can call in a dinner order from work and it is ready at the time requested to take home. Lasagna is always a good choice as is the Chicken Parmigana. And gift certificates make really good gifts!! Neighborhood location is great!

MY REVIEW: We've been going to Napoli's since 1985, and our kids still request it for "down home" Italian. It's hard to resist the pizza, especially if the next table is already eating one, but we ordered an old favorite, "Tortellini ala Panna" with Alfredo sauce and Proscuitto, and Chicken Pavoratti, with artichokes and mushrooms. Hot bread and decent salad with house dressing comes quickly, and the entrees were very good. We took home half of each one, and hoarded them for lunches the next day. Our waitress was "missing in action" for about half the meal, but we weren't neglected, with tea and water refills covered by another server, and the owner bringing us the entrees the moment they were ready. Only wished we had had more people to justify ordering one of our favorite appetizers as well.

MY REVIEW: We love Napoli's. House special is my favorite pizza in Houston and my wife loves the calzones. Our parents came from out-of-town and they really liked the food also. Eggplant parmegiana is very good.

MY REVIEW: We love going to Napoli's and recommend it to everyone we know. My husband loves cheese pizza with anchovies and I love the Greek pizza. I've also had the chicken cacciatore and it is wonderful. The people are very nice. It's a great small, intimate restaurant.

MY REVIEW: I reviewed this restaurant earlier when my family had just moved into the neighborhood. Since then, we have taken friends and ordered take out quite often. Our friends still rave about the pizza and tell us they crave it. I have noticed that they have cleaned it up, fixed the wonky toilet, and it looks as if they have new booths and tables.
I finally tried the eggplant parmigiana and it was quite good. Almost as good as mine. The portion was enough for two meals. My husband tried the manicotti and said it was average. However, the salads were better than the first time we ate there. There was fresh leaf lettuce rather than iceberg. My kids love the hamburger pizza. Our friends really liked the uniqueness of the "Pizza Capra" which had goat cheese and caperberries. The caperberries were very unusual but interesting. We've also been impressed with the eggplant and mushroom toppings.
The staff are friendly, even the teenagers give you a smile. Again, this isn't a Tuscan grill or upscale trattoria. It is Italian-American food and pizza with a great crust. In fact, I am about to order one of those pizzas, now.

MY REVIEW: My family has been going to Napoli's for at least 10 years. Having grown up in the Northeast, this is the closest thing to real pizza Houston has to offer. The calzones are also very good. Linguini with Clams and Baked Ziti are also very good. I always ask them to add Italian Sausage to the Ziti which makes it even better. Atmosphere is not great, but it feels like I am visiting any pizza place in the Northeast.
I just wish I lived a mile closer, so that I would be in their delivery area.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I just moved into Norchester, where Napoli's is located. We visited for lunch and we really liked the pizza. My husband is from New Haven, so pizza is a big deal to East Coast Italians. The bolognese sauce on my husband's tortellini was homemade and full of beef. The iceberg salad wasn't much to speak of, but my calzone was good and fresh. The french bread was very good and tasted homemade, with a crusty outside and light texture inside. The prices are VERY reasonable. My four year old's small pizza for 3.95 was enough to feed two small children or a good lunch for an adult. We took half our food home and ate it for dinner. I will say that they could use less salt. Having married into an Italian-American family, I can attest to the fact that they love salt a little too much. Also, the place does need some cleaning. There were soda stains all over the wall and the toilet in the ladies restroom inexplicably is angled toward the wall, making it a bit difficult to, ummm, go. I love the kitsch, personally. All the Venetian paintings and fake grapes add to its appeal, but clean kitschiness would be alot better. I think the place just needs a major spring clean because the food is good and the pizza is VERY good. We will definitely be going back because of the quality to price ratio.

MY REVIEW: Pasta and red sauces are good, but the rest? Chicken dishes consist of what looks like prefab chicken patties. Wine sauce looked and tasted like package brown gravy with some wine added. Please clean the place. Sorry, but it is just too hard for me NOT to concentrate on the molded falling apart ceiling tiles above me and the dark dirty dinginess of restaurant and kitchen area as a whole. Napoli's is an "office favorite" but I have to beg off now.... just can't do it anymore.

MY REVIEW: Maybe we should have stuck with pizza from the reviews below, but we ordered entrees and were sadly disappointed. Everything was drenched in so much salt, it was nearly inedible. The fried calamari was inedible. It was so badly freezer-burned, that it could not be chewed. The kids enjoyed the raviolis, but that is about all. Even the house italian dressing was nasty....the dried herbs they cram into the oil were still crunchy and glopped together when poured over the salads.
We just moved in down the street, and had high hopes of a local delivery italian restaurant, but we will never order again.

MY REVIEW: Very simple, blue collar style restaurant that has been around for what seems ever. Very good pizza, among what I'd imagine is as close to authentic as anything in the region. Lunch specials are reasonably priced with a variety of daily selections, though the portions are a little on the small side. The service is normally very good, with friendly and attentive staff. From the outside it doesn't look like much, and the inside could use a revamp. The starter salad is alright, though a little too reliant on iceberg lettuce for my taste. The Chicken Parmagiana (sp?) is ok, the Chicken Milanese is good, but my favorite is the Shrimp Marinara. The Marinara sauce is thick, zesty, & flavorful. The angel hair pasta is always perfectly cooked. Over all I would give Napoli's a solid B and would not hesitate recommending them for nice meal on a budget.

MY REVIEW: I absolutely love this place. I grew up eating their pizza and nothing can compare. Recently, the new staff members are getting lazy and not doing their jobs, but the people that have been there for a while are the best (ask for Marie next time you go on a Friday/Saturday night).
While I must admit that the place has looked the same for at least 15 years, at least they got rid of the smoking section.
Pizza is great
Calzones are great
Pasta is great
How can you go wrong?

MY REVIEW: We have been going to Napoli's for the past 15 years on a regular basis. When I lived at home, we were eating there at least once a week. While lately the service has been a little slow, the food is always delicious and priced fairly. We love the pizza, calzones and chicken parmesan. The kids loooove their spaghetti with meatballs. Although the atmosphere is nothing to write home about, the food makes up for it. The only recommendation that I could make is to update the bathroom. They are very small and kind of run down. Otherwise, it's a great place for a delicious italian meal!

MY REVIEW: I have been getting pizza from this resaurant for the past 7 years. My husban is from New Jersy, and there are only a few places that make what he calls 'real' pizza. Of them all (only three in Houston), this is his favorite.
I am not such a pizza expert, but I have eaten the originals in Italy and the French Riviera. I must say I love Napoli's pizza and we have it almost once a week and we have to DRIVE to pick it up!!! We are going to get one today... extra large with extra sausage...
