MY REVIEW: The BBQ chicken plate is very good. The ribs (baby back or spare ribs) are great. The brisket is very tasty. Everybody is picky about sauce. I always get it on the side. This is a tomato based sauce that is just basic. The vegetables are pretty heavy on the salt like many other BBQ places (H*inzes & others) The baked potatoes are the monsters. The jalepeno sausage is almost plain but is not bad. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I need to try the burgers. This place is easy to get to for my lunch so it is a study in progress. I love the fact they do not have music blaring during the day. If I want to go to a bar, I'll go to a bar. To each is own. I like Gabby's.

MY REVIEW: I had the coupon from the Entertainment book, so I decided to check it out. The coupon was for Gabby's Greatest Dinner and it was delicious! Sausage, ham, ribs, and brisket on one plate. I ordered the baked squash and macaroni and cheese as my sides, which was also really good. Great service- fast and friendly. I'm not huge on BBQ but I definitely want to come back to Gabby's.

MY REVIEW: I usually really like their food but the last time my family and I went there, the "all you can eat" ribs were so tough, you could hardly eat them. I was extremely disappointed. With the price of everything so high now, eating out is a luxury for my family. I won't go there again. Too expensive, poor quality. I'll go to P*appas "Brisket H*ouse" even though it's out of my way.
BUMMER!!!

MY REVIEW: I love their barbeque. It is the best ever that I have tasted. There ribs are just moist and juicy. Just thinking about there food makes me hungry. They make this best potatoe salad ever. I really consider my potatoe salad the best but they far excede mine. The waitress knows me by name. She knows exactly what I am going to order. There desserts have to be the best. I love their cobbler with ice cream oh wow that was the best too.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I visted this restaurant because of the good reviews. Boy were we disappointed....My wife's green bean, sausages, and brisket were too salty for consumption. My order of ribs were similarly too salty and was covered by a terrible tasting BBQ sauce that was sour and sweet. Maybe it was a Tennesse type ribs but these BBQ are NOT slowed cooked nor infused with flavorful smoke. The restaurant's strong point is that is is large, clean and nicely decorated (if wood paneling and kitchy western items suits your taste). I would not return to this restaurant or any of it's other location.

MY REVIEW: Always hoping to add to our list of barbecue favorites (G*oode Company and L*yndon's) we looked forward to trying Gabby's. Nice enough decor-- Western feel, solid oak furniture, green and white checkered tablecloths. No background music; since there were few diners it felt oddly deserted. Prices were a little on the high side for self-serve bbq. Portions were about average. The meats had little or no smoked flavoring. The sauce was bright red, with a sharp, distinctly NOT slow-simmered flavor-- like they had opened a jar of marinara sauce and added a few spoons of vinegar. Sides were a cut above cafeteria steam-table (particularly the cole slaw, macaroni & cheese and green beans), but NOTHING seemed "home cooked" or even original. So for now G*oode Company and L*yndon's stand alone.

MY REVIEW: All I can say is these people are great at what they do! Our experience dining there has always been above average. The pork ribs are the best in town. There is no where else in town to have great BBQ & Live Muisc. This place is great for families, we get to have a great dinner and don't have to worry about entertaining the kids. We will keep going back for more. We recomend Gabbys above all others! If you go our favorites include: Chicken Fried Steak, Spare ribs, and hamburgers. Also the best banana pudding I've ever had. We aren't big drinkers but they seemed to have an extensive list of bar drinks to choose from.

MY REVIEW: I just wanted to point out that Gabby's has a great low-carb friendly selection. Side dishes like green beans (mmm) and salad are on the menu instead of just beans, rice, slaw, and potatoes like so many other BBQ places.

MY REVIEW: I have been in Houston for about 4 years. I have yet to find a BBQ place that can come close to the ribs I had while visiting the hill country. People rave about p@pp@'s and G☼☼die, I just don't see it. Gabby's food is as good if not better, but it's the service that really sets them apart for me (at least at the telephone rd. location). The waitstaff is friendly, my drink is never empty, there is never a line or a wait and they are quick on the refill of my all-you-can-eat ribs. They will also accommodate your request for an end or center cut of ribs... try asking for that at those other places.
I will continue to scour houston for *fantastic* ribs, but until I find them, I will continue to eat here.

MY REVIEW: Gabbys has been a part of our dining routine for many years now. The food has remained consistantly great! The country cooking and bbq stole hearts the first time we ever ate there. We can always count on the same great tastes every time we visit.( The best fried mushrooms in town) The service has made some drastic improvements with new faces and improved customer service. We love the fact that when we walk in, we are remembered and seated at our favorite table on almost every vist. I just want to say thanks to the entire staff for giving us so many great memories at your establishment, we look forward to seeing all of you soon! (To anyone who decides to visit gabbys make sure you try the pork spare ribs, the meat falls right off the bones!)

MY REVIEW: This was the first time my husband have ever been to Houston so we wanted to see what Texan BBQ tasted like. We were pleased for the most part. We went around dinner time on a Sunday. We were greeted right away by a very friendly waiter. Our drinks came very fast and they were never empty. Even when we left the waiter gave us to huge to go cups completely refilled. The meat was great but the sides were a little cold. Over all it was a great experience. We will defintley return.

MY REVIEW: I went to this Gabby's on a Sunday around 2:00, not too busy, lunch crowd gone for the most part. We were seated right away and then waited about 10 minutes to get our drink order. We got tea. We then ordered pretty quickly after that. We waited about 30 minutes with no one coming to our table at all. I flagged down our waiter and asked how long would it take to make our sandwiches... neither of us ordered any cooked items... only beef sandwiches. THIS is amazing.. the WAITER said to me "You are not the only one in here and they will go in order, you will just have to wait". Two tables of people had been eating by now that were here after us. The lady next to us leaned over and said this is ridiculous how long you have been here. We left our 3 bucks on the table for our tea and proceeded out of the restaurant. As we go to the door, the waiter yelled to us "THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!" Then we turned around immediately and asked to speak to the manager. The waiter ducked into the kitchen and never returned. After another 5 minute wait, fuming... we talked to a very young manager named CHris who listened and told us next time to come ask for him and he would take care of us. We said there will be no next time and left. Insolent waiters should not be tolerated. We are the kind of folks very hesitant to whine or complain at all but this waiter was just astounding!! NEVER GO THERE!!!

MY REVIEW: I have had Gabby's, on Spencer, for many years! The food I ordered was good, BUT..
Just stopped by yesterday..thinking..for a quick drive thru, for (2) chopped beef sandwiches and (2) fries. I waited forever, to place the order. Thinking it must be broken, I drove forward...only to hear someone finally welcome me! After placing the order, I pulled up and waited longer again. I explained to the cashier, that I wanted my BBQ sauce on the side, and she immediately told me, the sandwiches were already made, and ready to go. I accepted, paid and left. I thought everything was in the bag, checking quickly. AFTER NO ONE PROMPTLY TAKING MY ORDER, THE LONG WAIT @ THE DRIVE THRU, THE REQUEST FOR SAUCE ON THE SIDE...THE FRIES WERE MISSING! WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT THE SERVICE IS AT THE DRIVE THRU!!! The sandwiches were really good, but they need to step it UP a Notch, in the Service Department!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY REVIEW: Once again they didn't get the food order right, on my call in order. They made 3 mistakes this time. They have made mistakes before on call in orders. This time the drive thru speaker was working, sometimes it doesn't, i've lived here 5 years now. I lived here 16 years ago, and guess what the drive thru speaker wasn't working right then.
The food is real good most of the time, but i can't figure out why they can't get the orders right. Sometime in the near future another bbq place will open, hopefully P*appas, when i lived near one of them, they never gave the wrong orders, and the food was always great.

MY REVIEW: I have eaten at Gabby's many times in the past and the food is pretty good and is not over priced for the portion size. The BIG HANG UP I have with this place is that they CANNOT seem to get your order right when you go through the drive-thru. Several time i have gotten home to find out they have left something out and i'm not talking about the fork. The majority of the time they give you the WORNG food or they just DON'T GIVE IT TO YOU AT ALL. ZERO and I mean ZERO ATTENTION TO DETAIL. May of 2005 was my last visit and will continue to be my last visit. I can deal with the food not being the greatest i have ever tasted, but i will not deal with BAD SERVICE.
Is it wrong to expect friendly service and your order being correct?
~~~~OF COURSE NOT~~~~GET IT TOGETHER GABBY'S~~~~
MY REVIEW: While I don't ear Bar BQ out a lot because I can do a decent job at home, I have eaten at Gabbys over a period of many years. The meat has always been excellent. The sides are good as well. The latest meal I had was a "take home mixed plate" from an event that Gabbys catered. Even though the food was cold when I finally had a chance to eat (My fault - not Gabbys), it was still very good. I highly recommend Gabbys.
MY REVIEW: Gabbys makes the best sauce in Houston. The drive thru staff are great and polite. The stuffed potatoes are huge and great. Great banana pudding too. Good pork ribs but the baby back ribs sometimes are lacking in flavor and are not a good buy for the money. Stick with the regular pork ribs. Great potato salad too.
MY REVIEW: Saw this place on the way to Hobby and took the traveller there for a quick meal on a Saturday. They had two great deal all-you-can-eat rib specials but, as the waitress pointed out, no to-go boxes if we ordered ayce. Good point because we were already into the sampler appetizer plate with really hot wings, SW eggrolls, and fried mushrooms. Knew we were onto something good when the bowl of (very fresh) salsa with this was on a bed of chopped iceberg that was totally fresh and crispy with no brown spots. I mean, of course it should be that way but how often is the lettuce garnish dinner salad quality?
I had the half slab of pork ribs with homemade bbq sauce with a hint of vinegar that was great. Ribs were meaty and very tender. Even good heated the next morning. Companion had chopped beef sandwich and declared it good. Sides of fried okra (typical) and potato salad (from real potatoes, Mom quality good). The sandwich was around $4 and the ribs under $9.
The jukebox ran the whole time from FreezeFrame to reggae, and Nancy Sinatra to Diana Ross. Worth a trip for that!
Our waitress was there when we needed her, didn't mind our dawdling, answered all questions about the ribs. One time we didn't get more napkins right when we would have liked but not enough for a demerit.
What a find. This will be a required stop with everyone I pick up at Hobby airport and it's worth the 10 mile trip in the meantime.
MY REVIEW: We are the guys at the Dirtwood Skatepark a few blocks away on Wakefield Dr. We eat Gabby's BBQ a few times a week. Gabby's is the best BBQ in the area and the drive through is a big plus for us! The guys that work there are cool and some even plan in some really good bands! The guys at Dirtwood would recommend Gabby's to anyone.
MY REVIEW: Gabby's on Spencer, the food is great, the SERVICE is POOR We enjoy the food, the last 3 times we have had nothing but poor service the first time was the waitress, the second time was the manager, and being busy the 3rd and last time, ran out of ribs, potatoes,and chicken, 45 min later is what we told after we order, then the steaks were over cooked, the waitress was hardy ever around, poor service, and just bad, for me, that it, I wll try something else.
