MY REVIEW: I ordered the pad thai (putt thai). The menu says made with green onions and egg. Neither of these ingredients showed up in my dish. I had to ask for lime and a fork (it was take-out). Grumpy cashier notwithstanding, go elsewhere for your pad thai. This was completely not worth my money. Strong points: food was hot. Weak points: not real pad thai.

MY REVIEW: Location out a ways from old university location--which is now Pratu.
strong points- nice room, clean, nice thai mural--regrettably the rest was very poor.
Weak points-- my wife is thai so generally only go where thai's go--many thai restaurants in Houston are run by others with limited thai recipes. we had chicken with cashews, red curry, yum woon sen, larb gai----only the yum woon sen was good enuf to eat...teh chicken with cashew full of Black pepper---and a soup like base. Never saw a chicken with chilli and cashew like this anywhere in Thailand and not in Houston.
The cc machine wasn't working which was a hassle on leaving the last time--good thing I had $50 in cash. Hard to beleive this chain has so much history--I haven't seen any evidence of it. No Thai's working either night we were there--my wife couldn't find anyone to speak with or ask about items on menu. Very disappointed and will not be back. FYI "Khun" is std polite greeting like mr or mrs.
If you want thai food go to Thai Gourmet ( ask for khun Toon) or Vieng Thai (khun Jenny).
I won a 50$ gift cert to Nit Noi at a local festival and won't use it now.

MY REVIEW: I think they have excellent food at reasonable prices. They also have a nice selection of wines by the glass but I stopped ordering reds because they are warmer than my health club's jacuzzi. It detracts from the taste of the wine.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I were visiting her sister who recently moved to Houston and were looking for a good Thai restaurant. The food at Nit Noi was quite good and equally affordable (Shrimp Pad Thai, Putt-See-You and Red Curry). We typically look for at least one good thai restaurant in each city we visit. This one did not disappoint.

MY REVIEW: We had some friends in town and we took them here for dinner. They absolutely loved it and couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. We love Thai and for us, it was the best Thai we've had out here in Texas. You gotta try the big pot of coconut soup! Yum!

MY REVIEW: Service was good, and the food is wonderfully Thai. It is nice to go to a Thai restaurant where the chefs, the waitstaff and the manager are all Thai. The ambiance is nice, but teh good food makes it worth the visit.

MY REVIEW: This place has gone way downhill. The service was awful. They brought the wrong drink order followed by the wrong entree and the appetizer never came. There were few people in the restaurant and our waitress was incredibly rude.
We asked for the manager who quickly resolved everything and then the waitress started screaming at the new manager. The food was average to good, the ambience simply awful. Will never go back to this neighborhood restaurant.

MY REVIEW: What a disappointment!!!!!!!!! The service is TERRIBLE. We called in advance indicating we would have 8-10 people in our party. There were 2 other tables with larger parties. There were very few people at the restaurant other than us.
They took our beverage order pretty quickly. Clearly, there was only ONE server in the entire restaurant. It took the server at least 20 minutes to get to our table to take our food order. Our water glasses were never refilled. I had to mention to the server that we ordered appetitizers and we felt forgotten. The mumbled something about "he did not turn in our orders..." We said we wanted to talk to "He" but "He" never came. We recieved no explainations or an apology from the manager.
Bottom line is our food did not arrive for FIFTY minutes after we sat down. Of course our appetitzers came with our meals. And one of the plates never arrived.
I was watching the reactions from the other tables and it appeared they too had the same issues as us.
Yes, the food was good but the service ruined our meal. We all vowed to never return to Nit Noi because of the poorly run establishment.

MY REVIEW: For Thai food, this was one of the best. The restaurant was a little hard to find, but the drive was scenic. I started with the Thai ice tea and it definitely created the atmosphere. Sweet yet charming. The ambience for an early evening dinner was agreeable. Only a few diners, but the bar already had the TV's set to the sports station. The menu was easily understood (only because I've seen too many of these Americanized titles of asian dishes).
I started with the chicken satay, which by the way came with two different types of dipping sauces: peanut and a sweet/hot onion sauce. The chicken was grilled tender and slipped right off the skewer. My main meal was the 3-sauce snapper. The crunch was still apparent through the volume of sauce, but the basil slightly overwhelmed the dish. Overall, the flavor of the fish came through and it was delicious. Service was spot on.
The wait staff was attentive and the kitchen timed things perfectly. Then again, this was early evening. I would definitely recommend a second visit to try a spicer version of the snapper and next time I'll bring a friend to share the aromatic soup I saw on another table.

MY REVIEW: GREAT FOOD, DECENT PRICES, NICE QUITE DINING ROOM. AND I LOVE THE HUGE MENU, COULD DO A BTTER JOB OF EXPLAINING IT THOUGH.
WIFE LOVES IT, (THATS WHAT REALLY MATTERS) HUGE PORTIONS, (OR MAYBE THATS WHAT REALLY MATTERS) GOOD PRICES, OK, THATS WHAT REALLY MATTERS

MY REVIEW: I found the food absolutely delicious. We are vegetarian and the selection of tofu dishes is one of the best we have seen in any local Asian restaurant (that is not strictly vegetarian.) We have visited many times but hadn't been back in a while. (don't eat out much lately.)
I don't like the way they redecorated and eliminated the table cloths. I'm sure it was cost cutting but really detracts from the ambience. I agree with some of the others about the restaurant being "too dark". Not sure it is too dark as much as it seems "not upbeat". Hard to define.
We have taken many friends here and they always loved it.
If you have nothing else, you must try their spring rolls. We have the tofu spring rolls but the ones with meat are just as good, at least they were many years ago before we went vegetarian. I don't know how they marinate the tofu but it is so very very good. Best spring rolls in Houston. I know because I have tried most. I often order several orders of the spring rolls and have them for dinner at home.
Service was nice but still not sure what it is but it seems there is a "heaviness" in the atmosphere. Oh well. We will definitely be back for the food. I had the "woon sen" (sp?) noodles which was better than I even remembered it. Very light and the vegetables were very "al dente" like I like. There wasn't a lot of oil which also made me happy because I don't think there were lots of calories though the portion was large. Had to take some home in a box. DH had the "putt kee mau" (sp?) noodles which he has had many times before and he still loves it.
One thing I think they may have done is run some people off because they were attracting so many families with kids, it was rather unpleasant. The prices were cheap enough to attract the families with babies. I'm all supportive of family values but I don't like eating out in a restaurant next to a table where the kids are making a lot of noise, UGH! Don't know how to avoid this. Hope they don't raise their prices.
No noisy kids today thank goodness. It is worth the risk, though. We will definitely be back and don't plan to wait so long before we return.

MY REVIEW: We love Thai...but authentic Thai, which is hard to find, and unfortunately this chain is not it. The atmosphere is okay, they have large portions, and the service and prices were reasonable. However, the food was your average Americanized Thai, which may be what some people prefer, but we like the real thing.

MY REVIEW: Found dining at Nit Noi tonight very sad. Don't understand what's happened. First there, is no one there. The place was empty. Second, you almost had to ask to be waited on. Then we were totally ignored the entire evening. We live around the corner, and have taken so many people there to eat, and just watch it go down down down. It is even dirty now . . . . something I've never seen in the past.
While the food is good, I don't want to go back to any place I don't feel welcomed and appreciated.
Hoping this does some good and you folks will wake up and realize your dining room is empty for a reason. Good luck and only with you could make a come back, but there are simply too many good places to eat in Houston, rather than be ignored.

MY REVIEW: This is my husband and my favorite place to go with friends. It is the best Thai food we know of in town. The food is light (which I find unusual for Thai food) so you don't leave feeling like you've ingested a pound of grease. I love the tofu with mixed vegetables. My husbands sticks with the chicken pad thai. Both great. My only complaint is that they keep the place a little over-dark and the air conditioning is way too high (though I am from NY; everyone here in Houston seems to over-air-condition to some extent).

MY REVIEW: I must say that Nit Noi is my choice to go for occassions such as birthdays or just a celebration. The food is excellent and the service good. My girlfriend and I love the 'beef musmun'. The quantity of food for the price is very good too. I totally recommend this restaurant for those who havnt tried it yet. Give it a shot, you'll love it.

MY REVIEW: Have enjoyed the food at Nit Noi - agree that service can be sketchy at times, but have had really good service too. An extra challenge that we have is bringing our 4 year-old son with us - so any service lacking will be much more apparent to us (and particularly him). I love the crispy basil snapper, the dumplings, the cucumber sald, the brocoli push not bush w/ beef, the lamb and the eggplant. Love the sticky rice too - one of my fav desserts at any Thai restaurant. I like Ploy Thai too, but really just at lunch when you can get the salad/appetizer bar, otherwise not that expansive of a menu. I love Nit Noi for a wide menu, there are a lot of dishes that would appeal to first time Thai food eaters.

MY REVIEW: I also had a bad experience there. My date and I arrived at Nit Noi a full hour before they close. The whole time I was eating the bus-lady was STARING at me. Not only did that creep me out it ruined an already below average meal. The food they serve is too sweet, apparently to please the American palate, but who wants to eat pseudo-Thai food. Give us the real thing and let us decide if we like it or not.

MY REVIEW: One visit and I will never go back. The ambionce of the restauraunt is great, the fans on the wall, lighting and the decorative things here and there. The service was H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E, and there is nothing worse than going to a restauraunt and they can't speak a WORD of english. My guest asked the waiter what something was made with and he said "yes", and she asked again and he kept saying yes. It was important to find out what was in the dish for medical reasons. Also, the food was brought out at different times (both entrees, different times), making my guest feel weird about eating before I was seved. I ordered the fried rice also, not to appetizing. The whole thing was practically a large fried egg, not to my liking at least. P*loy Thai Cuisine located at Research forest and Six Pines, right across from Culvers in Shenandoah is by far 100% better, I go there almost 4 times a week. They are so friendly. Also Nit Noi was rather expensive, and the menu was rather childish with there rhyming names.

MY REVIEW: We love the food... interesting sauces, fresh veggies (nice and crisp), and wonderful chicken and shrimp dishes. I highly recommend this restaraunt to friends.
Our only complaint is the menu... many of the entrees have cute names that don't give you any idea what is in the entree or the type of sauce that you can expect. The wait staff is able to describe the dishes but who wants to ask about each and every dish when placing an order. A more descriptive menu (similiar to the Nit Noy on 1960) would really be helpful.

MY REVIEW: After ordering the same dishes on different visits, I've concluded that this restaurant is good but inconsistent. Today the Pad Thai (w/ shrimp; we had a no-meat eater in the party) was partly darker than normal (probably too much soy sauce on one part of the pan). The eggplant stir fry also wasn't as well done as before, and it came out a while after the other entrees. We were there around noon-1pm and they weren't even that busy.

MY REVIEW: We've eaten at the Village location numerous times. Were excited they opened one so close to home.
The menu needs more description of the ingredients in the dishes.
On a Wednesday night, they were not terribly crowded. Service was adequate, but when the orders came out from the kitchen, they were very staggered. For four people, the time difference between first and last was easily ten minutes.
But, all were very good. No complaints about the quality nor quantity.

MY REVIEW: This resturant just opened and i am a big thai food fan so i decided to see how it was. It took forever to get a seat and they were severely understaffed. Which in a way is to be expected somewhat on their first weeks of being open. Yet, it took FOREVER to order and to get a drink of water. Although at least the food was worth the wait. After about an hour, we got our main courses. I def. reccoment the chicken putt thai, and the hiding rice. The place is a bit small and lacking more tables. The way they have it set up wastes a lot of space, and makes it hard to get around. I would go back maybe after they hire more people, but the food was awesome.

MY REVIEW: We were a party of 10 people. We made reservations ahead of time. We waited for AN HOUR, before we got A GLASS OF WATER. We had brought our wine with their permission, yet it took more than an hour to get a wine opener. After complaining a couple of times, finally we got to order. Appetizers arrived half hour later but not at once. So we were trying to decide whether to start eating (we were HUNGRY by then) or wait for all the appetizers to arrive. The same thing happened with the main dishes. We ordered Thai ice tea and we got regular ice tea. SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. We will never be back and don't recommend it to you either.
