MY REVIEW: We have visited this restaurant over the past 25 years. The food has always been good but lately the customer service has been deceptive. At our last visit, 3 things happened which was very deceptive from the service.

1) I asked for a glass of Chardonnay and the waitress asked by brand name if I would like it but never indicated that it was not the house wine. I did not know this until I received the bill. The wine was very expensive.

2) My wife asked if she could substitute fries for rice or onion rings without a charge and was said yes. We where charged on the bill and I had to ask for it to be removed.

3) My wife order a fish pore boy sandwich with Red Snapper. She orders this all the time. The waitress said that she could only have Catfish. My wife had to tell her that she always gets Red Snapper and asked if the menu has changed. The waitress then said that she could have Red Snapper.

Well, at less the food was good.

MY REVIEW: We use to frequent this restaurant before it was bought out. We have been once or twice in the last 2 years but after dining there this past Saturday, we will never return. The meals were pricey and there was not enough food to satisfy being called a dinner. Three of us ordered the shrimp and oyster combination plate, it came served with 5 small oysters, 4 shrimp, 10 French fries and a tiny cup of what was suppose to be shrimp slaw, but with all the mayonaise and no slaw, it could have been tartar sauce. There were 8 people in our party and the service was OK, the food was the terrible and very disappointing!!

MY REVIEW: Strong points: The view and a nice waitress and that's all! Yucky points:We ordered 3 broiled shirmp entrees and talk about terrible. The dollar extra blackened shrimp was tasteless and far from jumbo shrimp. The green beans and new potatoes had NO potatoes and tougher than ever green beans. The 30 grains of rice were ok. The tea ok. After a $60.00 dollar lunch we could have had better and cheaper food from Long Johns S*ilvers and that aint saying much! The Flying Dutchman will never see our money again. By the way this was the restaurant on the boardwalk in Kemah if there are more than one location.

MY REVIEW: Frankly, at first, I felt the prices were a little on the high side, by when it was served, I felt the food was a real bargain! We had the Shrimp Remoulade appetiser at $10 and it was enough for four or six! Two of us split the Seafood Sampler at $21 (Grilled Shrimp, White fish, Scallops, Crab Claws, Crab Cake with Rice Pilaf, (blackened +1.25) it was a more than we could eat and very fresh and tasty! Another had the Crabcake sandwich that was very tasty and well prepared. The service was very good for a Saturday at 2pm. Three of us ate well of the excellently prepared meal for about $50. Not bad at all, I believe. I was very pleased and plan to return for more next time I visit.

MY REVIEW: I have been coming to the Flying Dutchman before the boardwalk was ever "the boardwalk." Back in the Jimmy w*alker and Brass P*arrot days. I loved and still love this restaraunt. I dont go there too often now-a-days, as parking at the boardwalk is terrible as well as the wait times. However they have some awesome seafood. The upstairs section can be a little bit pricey, and the downstairs section is a little more relaxed.

MY REVIEW: I was just making our family's reservations for Christmas Eve Dinner. This will make our third year in a row that we've been to the Flying Dutchman for our family Christmas meal. I read some of the reviews recently posted and was surprised to hear that people had bad food and bad service. While there is sometimes a wait (I've learned after 20-plus years of eating here that that's expected), the service is normally excellent and everyone in my family enjoys the food. We love to sit downstairs in the less formal atmosphere and enjoy ourselves. The shrimp salad is my favorite, but the desserts are absolutely wonderful! Looking forward to our reservations for 30 on Sunday and a great holiday celebration at our family's favorite restaurant.

MY REVIEW: Out of all the Kemah Boardwalk restaurants, it was recommended to us that we go to this one. We travelled a long way with high expectations. It was very crowded and the wait was about an hour unless we went upstairs. We opted for that. The waiter was very nice but the food took forever, as in over an hour. It was horrible. The salmon with dill sauce was probably the worst I've ever had. The oyster feast was almost as bad. We spent $50 for 2 people (no alcohol) for basically, a good view of the boats going by. If this is the best, I can't imagine how bad the other restaurants are. We will never go back to the K. Boardwalk and will tell our friends of the experience too.

MY REVIEW: My family and I went to the Flying Dutchman to eat during the day time around 2-3 p.m. on a Sunday. We were informed that we would have to wait 15-20 mins. for seating. While we waited outside we noticed several tables that were empty and waitreses standing aroud. My son had to use the bathroom and while walking inside, we noticed that there were more empty seats. We had requested water while we waited and never received it. We also got "bumped" by a family that arrived after we did. The teenage server had known the and took it upon herself to seat them prior to us. We decided not to patronize the restaurant. If it's that bad to be seated, we don't want to know what the service is like.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I are almost "regulars" at the Flying Dutchman upstairs dining room. The view of the bay is wonderful. The managers Tony Lazano, and Michael Tong always ensure the service is impeccable. The rest of the wait staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. We use to make our way there more than three or four times each month before we moved from League City, to Dickinson. I would recommend the upstairs dining at the Flying Dutchman to anyone seeking an upscale yet somewhat casual dining experience.

MY REVIEW: I went to The Flying Dutchman last Saturday and let me tell you it was a horrible experience!!! When we got there, we sat outside and it took forever for them to bring us our drinks. We waited for like 25 min for the waitress to take our order and she never even brought the bread, we had to ask her to bring us some. When a good waiter brings it in like 2 minutes after you sit down! She finally brought it with the fried Calamari and let me tell you the Calamari was average definently not the best I've ever had. Then after like another 40 minutes she brought the food, and the food was not good at all . I ordered the Seafood & Snapper platter. The portions were tiny, the fries were all soggy, and the shrimp was averagee, and the snapper barely had any flavor.Overall, I would NOT recommend this Restaurant to anyone the ambiance was boring, the food was bad, and the staff was so slow , they wouldn't even come and ask how we were doing. Also for the prices that they have you would expect better food and larger portions!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I left the kids with my mom and ran away from home for a night. I came to this website and decided that we would go to The Flying Dutchman and we are so glad we did. We had a reservation for 7PM but the traffic was really bad so we were late. What we should have reserved was a parking spot! It took us 20 minutes to find one! The waitstaff was great for the amount of patrons they had. We sat at the bar and waited for a window table to become avalible. James the bartender was great!! He was doing everything from getting drinks to getting highchairs, to seating guests when the hostess was away. All of the glasses that were hanging from the bar were dustfree, which was very refreshing. We waited a little longer than we wanted for a window table but honestly we were in no hurry and being entertained at the bar by James. We got to our table and were informed that we would be special guests of the manager that night and for the life of me I can't remember his name (I think it's Mike but don't quote me) but he's been there for about 3 years and knows how to treat guests so they come back. I had the Seafood Florentine and my husband had the Southwest Mixed Grill. Both were excellent. My husband was expecting a little more food but the taste was great. We received our entrees for free because they dropped the first batch. We then received the best dessert I have ever eaten in my life and I am a dessert connoisseur! I don't know that the manager told us the name of it. It had two slices of Chocolate Pate in the middle of the plate and on one side if it was a white cream grand marnier sauce and the other side was a blueberry reduction sauce. My husband doesn't like chocolate and he LOVED this!! All around we would recommend this restraunt to anyone who asked us where to go for great service, great food and great drinks!

MY REVIEW: ok, this is a "one visit" review. I had the Snapper Piccata. Not bad at all, but definitely "not" the best I've ever had. We sampled each others dishes. My date had the Snapper Florentine. Better, had good flavor, but again I've eaten at restaurants much less pricey and had far better food. Service was exceptional the evening we went, wine selection was wonderful and the view was superb. Enjoyed watching all the boats come and go from the bay. (This was the 2nd floor "dining" and not the oyster bar.) I will return because I feel one visit does not a review make.

MY REVIEW: This is my favorite restaurant in Kemah, my husband and I have dined here for both lunch and dinner for special occasions since we where in high school. I absolutely love the atmosphere, the food, and of course the view of boats drifting by on the bay front as you eat. I would recommend visiting this restaurant when you visit beautiful Kemah.

MY REVIEW: I had been planning a Valentine's evening dinner at The Flying Dutchman. It was my first time to ever visit Kemah and all I can say is that I picked the perfect place to go. My date and I loved it so much, we plan on going back for every occasion. In fact we are planning on going this weekend. The second floor is candlelit and very romantic with delicious entrees and appetizers. The stuffed flounder is the best I have ever had. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is definitely a five star.

MY REVIEW: The ambiance is terrific, the view one-of-a-kind, and the food is always delicious. Occasionally the service is slower than I prefer. I have had several entrees and enjoyed them all and the dessert (the few times that I had room for any) was divine!

MY REVIEW: We are English visiting Houston and decided to go to Kemah for the weekend. We ate at the Flying Dutchman and have to say it was the worst meal I have had since arriving in the US.

I had a chicken BLT, the chicken tasted like it had been microwaved.

Would not recommend it and would never go again.

MY REVIEW: Let's see, The Flying Dutchman ahhhh.. is my favorite place to eat out if I were at Kemah. Whenever I go there I get great service and great food. Compared to Laundry's, W^llie G's, the Aq^arium, and J^e's Crab I think it is diffently number one. If you were to go there I would recommend to order the crab legs for your appetizer, it is simply the best crab legs I have tasted. If you want a great atmosphere with great food, service, and a great view of the sunset on the water I would definitely recommend to eat at the top floor of The Flying Dutchman!!!

MY REVIEW: We decide to wait and go out to eat on the 15th and not the 14th due to the crown we knew it still might be busy so we made reservations for 7:30 pm for non smoking, we arrived on time and the hostess informed us that they were running 30 mintues behind on reservations we decide to wait after waiting for more then an hour demanding we get a table we were given a table in the smoking area the service was bad, the food was bad, and no one seem to care I will never again dine at this restaurant and will like to tell everyone to avoid this restaurant and I could go on but I know this restaurant will never see a penny of my hard earn money again. Thank you
