MY REVIEW: My family and I visited Bonnie's at my suggestion. We had a party of 13 and arrived at approx. 1:45pm. We didnt have to wait long for a table. However, a few of our seats and part of the table were dirty and needed to be cleaned again. I was told that the prices were moderate - they were not moderate...Steak plates started at $22.00. The waiter and waitress that served us were sporatic in their service. We waited awhile for drink refills and when asked for a fresh Dr. Pepper, the waitress rolled her eyes with a audiable sigh and walked off. She returned approx. 10-15 min. later with the fresh Dr. Pepper. Our waiter was polite. After ordering our entrees, we visited the salad bar. Several of the plates were dirty. The soup was very good and the block of cheese was a big hit with our younger family members. The members that ordered the "Bayou Platter" (asst. fried seafood) complained that almost all the seafood was overcooked - especially the catfish. My grandmother's was so overdone, she cut it up - so she sent it back. Their second attempt on her order was not much better than the first. Several other members ordered the lemon peppered catfish and it was cooked to perfection. Overall, our visit was Hit & Miss. Based off of the pricing, we did expect a higher standard of cleanliness and attention. I doubt that my family will opt for Bonnie's again, However, I may give them another try. Hopefully they will fair better on my next visit, or it will be my last visit.

MY REVIEW: The Salad Bar is $8.95, not $15.95. When you add the soup, it is only a dollar more. The Salad Bar is phenomenal and a great deal. While you are only supposed to go for one plate of salad, you can try both soups and go back for the fruit and different types of dishes that are offered(such as pasta salad, celery and cheese salad, bean salad etc). The Crawfish Etouffee and the Gumbo are not part of the Soup and Salad and does not automatically come with a trip to the Salad Bar. Just wanted to clarify. I used to work there and I would recommend eating there anytime. The Filet Mignon is awesome.

MY REVIEW: I arranged for a group of 7 people, 4 from Austin, 3 from Houston to have dinner at Bonnies after a musical performance at U of H. Reservation was fine, nice table for us all, however ordering was a little shaky......several of the group (4) only wanted soup with a salad bar trip.
The menu CLEARLY stated at the bottom of the first page "all soup includes one trip to the garden bar". However, there was some discussion with the waiter about whether the "Crawfish Etoufee" listed as a soup was a soup or traditional Etoufee, he came back after I asked to confirm it was soup. I ordered it along with others who either got that soup or the gumbo, but when we said something about going to the salad bar, he said the soup did not come with the salad bar even after we pointed out what the menu said.
Now, here we should have confirmed how much it would be or asked for the manager, but we just said we wanted the salad bar and went on to get our food. When the bill came...... we were all charged $15.95 for SALAD plus the $7.95 for soup. We could NOT BELIEVE IT. All of this group are professional engineers, not like we couldn't afford to pay the bill, but come on Bonnies, $23.90 for a bowl of soup and ONE salad plate from the "garden bar".......then,
When one of the guys tried to talk to the manager about it, he totally blew him off saying the reason we were charged was because the etoufee didn't come with the salad.......it was CRAZY.
No one in charged seemed to understand the menu and the menu specifically said soup comes with salad bar, the management thought the etoufee was traditional etoufee when the waiter had confirmed it was soup and by the way I ate it and IT WAS SOUP!!
We won't be back, eventhough the food was very good, my advice, opt for P*appa's Seafood right next door to Bonnies!!

MY REVIEW: It started out shaky with the hostess nowhere to be found upon arriving. Then she directed us to the wrong table (we were meeting business associates) but finally we were seated. The stuffed mushrooms were fantastic, my filet was cooked to perfection (it actually melted in my mouth) the vegetables were cooked just right. The meal was excellent and to top if off the cappucino and creme brulee cheesecake were great. Overall, a great night out to talk business and socialize. Prices were high but I wasn't paying so I enjoyed the meal that much better. Jeremiah, our server, was very attentive and polite.

MY REVIEW: This was my first visit to Bonnie's and I must say the service, ambiance, band, and the overall dining experience was outstanding. My companion and I sat in a booth and to adjust the lighting made our expereince more intimate and the first date a great one. I will visit Bonnie's again.

MY REVIEW: Every visit we have is great. The Food Is wonderful, my Filet Oscar was a perfect Med Rare, that is not always the case in other places. We did have a little trouble with a chop steak, but the server took care of it right away and got my wife a prime rib that she said was "out of this world". The entertainment was great, we had glass of wine in the bar after dinner. Thanks Bonnies Our date night was wonderful.

MY REVIEW: In response to "Very Dissatisfied" (below) - you say that the waiter was not very pleasant "kind of like the way a waitstaff person acts if they think they are not going to get a tip". How would you know this? Could it be because you are often the person that does not give a tip?? Waiters do, indeed have a 6th sense about these sorts of things, and in this case it appears that he/she was right on the money (no pun intended).
Maybe you would enjoy yourself more when you go out if you simply relax and enjoy yourself instead of sitting there waiting for the waiter to do something wrong so that you can dock his tip. Just a thought.
P.S. For the record, every occasion I have dined at Bonnie's the food has been delicious, and I think they are the only place in Houston that still includes a trip to a luscious salad bar with your meal. Also, try sitting in the lounge on a Friday or Saturday night - the live music rocks!

MY REVIEW: This was my second visit and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. We had a booth where we could adjust our own lighting. It wasn't as crowded so we were able to hold a conversation without yelling the words to each other. My husband had a Porter House, which was excellent. I had the grilled salmon, the salmon was good I just didn't care for the sauce. Good food for the price and nice atmosphere.

MY REVIEW: We ordered a hot appetizer which lacked any form of heat; when I asked for a straw, one was brought to the table (not in paper or plastic) and placed on the table; the booth seat had food in it; the Lemon Pepper Catfish was cooked on the thin end, but not fully cooked on the thicker end; the waiter was not outwardly rude, but not a pleasant person by any means (kind of like a waitstaff person acts if they think they are not going to get a tip.) On this particular day, this restaurant was a bad choice for a birthday celebration.

MY REVIEW: I have gone to Bonnie's in the past and enjoyed the food; however we recently had one of the most terrible dining experiences in my life. We were a party of nine. The waiter was attentive but we had to assist him with everthing; serving the water, placing the (cold) bread, and placing the food. I ordered the red snapper. I could smell it before he placed it before me. It had a very poor smell like rotten fish or very old shrimp. I told him that my plate was hot but the fish was cold and poor tasting. He did take it back but the quality did not improve he only warmed it more. I have eaten out at some of the best restaurants in town and I must say IMO the quality of the food at Bonnie's has gone down tremendously. I must add that the prices are still above average. I was totally disappointed. I wish I could say that it was only my food but that would not be the truth. Others at my table ordered lobster that was tough and over cooked. Some had over cooked steak while others stated they asked for mediumly cooked steak which came out almost raw. Well someone told us that the owner was doing the cooking that night. I don't know what happened to the original cook but the owner should step aside. If I were you and were considering Bonnie's I would choose a different restaurant.

MY REVIEW: Our watier was less than desireable. Once he took our order for the soup and salad bar which after we placed our order was told it was a "one trip" only bar and the plates were the size of bread and butter plates of most restaurants. He never returned to see how we liked our meal or to refill drinks but as soon as we were done eating, the waitstaff was practically in our laps trying to get the dishes and such off of the table.
It wasn't a pleasant experience. In the Houston area where there are many restaurants to choose from, you can't provide shoddy service and expect return customers. There are far too many restaurants that provide good food and good service.

MY REVIEW: The waitress took my drink and dinner order, no problem. She told me my waiter would be right with me. My waiter was a ghost. He didn't bother to speak to me until he brought me my lousy meal. The couple seated 15 minutes after me got their food and his attention first. The salad and soup bar were good. My steak was ordered medium rare. I received it well done. My baked potato was cold. It wasn't even warm enough to melt the butter. I would have sent everthing back but my waiter didn't reappear and I had already waited too long. After delivering my meal the waiter never bothered to ask me about my meal or if I would like something else to drink. I guess he was too worried about the large table he was waiting on to care about me. This was my first and last visit. I will stick to The P*alm and S*ullivan's.

MY REVIEW: Wow everything was wonderful. The steaks were juicy and perfectly cooked, the salad bar is georgeous and everything is fresh and NOT from a can. The soup is also homemade and not from a can like so many places. I had a great time. It is a great place to talk. After dinner, we went to the bar area and listened to the live entertainment. There on Thurs- Sat. I will be a regular at Bonnies.

MY REVIEW: Waiter was sloppy and unprofessional. When I try a new place I ask questions about the way items are cooked, side selections and market price of items. I can understand not knowing everything but the waitstaff should know how to answer professionally instead of duh, I don't know. Our service was slow and unattentive. The other staff appearred more professional and "starched." The charbroiled shrimp and salad bar was good. The soup tasted fresh. A lounge singer was in the bar and the music could be heard in the dining area. It was oldies top hits which were appropriate and the volume was enjoyable, not to loud. Happy hour at the bar looked like a better choice in the future. For the price and quality, it was mediocre.

MY REVIEW: we were seated promptly in the no smoking area. although there were many places available we were seated where smoke drifted in from the bar. the soup and salad bars were good. the salmon was very bland as were the vegetables served with it. my companion had the filet mignon, which was overcooked. we have eaten at bonnie's several times in the past but not in recent months. the quality seems to have gone down quite a bit. considering the price and quality, it will be several months before we return.

MY REVIEW: This was my boyfriends's and I first visit to Bonnie's. We decided to eat here because the parking lot was so full compared to the P*appa's Seafood House next door. We wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. We were seated promptly, but it took forever for a waitperson to take our drink order. The menu had a nice selection and the prices were comparable to other steak and seafood restaurants. I ordered the fried seafood platter and my boyfriend ordered the special. The meal came with a salad and soup bar which was delightful. My seafood platter was very small considering the 19.99 price tag, but it was good. My boyfriend's red snapper was extremely small and lacked much flavor considering it was stuffed and had a seafood topping. Though he did not complain until we got the bill and saw they charged 28.99 for the snapper. This is horribly overpriced for a seafood restaurant of this caliber. Especially since we've had better blackened snapper for 12.99 at neighborhood seafood joints. We will probably never return to this establishment. We could have spent the same amount at W*illie G's and received more food with better taste.

MY REVIEW: When "Bonnie" was the owner, the service/food was "top notch". But alas, all good things must end! Excellent salad/soup bar! It's quite interesting how simular the reviews are for this establishment. The Cheers atmosphere hits the nail on the head, (if you dine in the bar). I'm a lazy type person, so I tend to regularly eat in places that don't quite measure up to my standards. This is one such case!

MY REVIEW: I figured I'd give this place another try...NEVER AGAIN. $14.99 for a Caesar Salad and the chicken they put on it was cold and tasteless. The salad wasn't even it green and leafy. It was the whiter, inside part of the head. Also, lettuce for a salad should be broken or torn by hand....NOT CUT IN HUGE CHUNKS! The first metal that should touch a salad should be the customer's fork! Someone else in my group had the crab cakes with asparagus over them. It was all cold. Don't waste your money here...I'd rather eat at O*utback, R*uth's Chris, or V*ic & Anthony's.

MY REVIEW: My boyfriends seafood platter was awesome, but my $25 filet migon was cold when brought out so they took it back and re-heated it. Thought that was kind of cruddy, I paid $25 for a re-heated steak. That was my first problem with them though, the rest of the times I have gone, the food was awesome.

MY REVIEW: First time there, will be sure to try again. around 30-40 wines to choose from from $20 to $200. FILET awesome but my sons eafood platter was over cookand not a lot for the price at all. I've had much better seafood for a lot less price. The steak will most certainally bring me back. My wife had the prime rib which rivals any that I've had in a long while. Desserts better than avarage and ambiance as well. 4-5 stars just work on the fried stuff.
