MY REVIEW: In a differing opinion to than another, I have always found the staff willing to assist me on my visits. I visit very often and they do know my name as well as my families. The made to order items are fresh and hot. I don't mind waiting to receive per my requests. The COMPLIMENTARY bread is again avaliable and you can enjoy it with all the jams. The breakfast here are very good and the coffe is alot better than S*tarbucks. Try the new mini parfaits!!!

MY REVIEW: Rode there on our bikes this morning and got there around 7:00 a.m. There were no other customers there at that time. We had a nice quiet breakfast outdoors. Food was good but then we had just oatmeal and scrambled eggs with a croissant. Nice, clean restaurant with a nice cozy setting.

MY REVIEW: This place has really gone down hill. We waited about 20 minutes for a sandwich on a night that wasn't even crowded. The glasses always seem to be dirty and the food quality has gone way down hill. To top it all off, they don't even have complimentary bread anymore.
We won't be back.

MY REVIEW: I hosted the Le Rosey alumni Spring reunion at La Madeleine on Voss/Woodway. I reserved a room and seating for sixteen alumni. The general manager was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make our reunion as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The country pizza, quiches, pastries, etc, were delicious. The service was prompt and efficient. We all had a wonderful time and agreed that La Madeleine was a good choice. I would definitely recommend the Voss/Woodway location for anyone thinking of hosting a group as the general manager ( Anna Beth) is outstandingly hospitable.

MY REVIEW: I can't say I'm thrilled with La Madeleine anymore, and that makes me sad, because I used to love them so much. I think as they grew into a larger chain, they've lost a lot of their quality. This is a great location, and it's good for something to eat, but I have to say I miss the freshness of the "old" La Madeleines, when they weren't so easy to find.

MY REVIEW: I love this place! My family goes about twice a month. It is so relaxing and the atmosphere is wonderful! But if anyone will be going there for the first time, may I recommend the Croque Monsieur sandwich. It is like a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, but when they cook it, they pour a rich egg/cream sauce on it and it cooks onto the outside. It is SOOOOO wonderful. It also comes with a tasty pasta salad, or you can always substitute it for some chips on the side. All for about $7, this meal is UNBEATABLE. I have grown up on it, and it really gives you a taste of France! Bon Appetite!

MY REVIEW: I was so excited when La Madeleine opened in Katy. Both my visits were big disappointments. Service was terrible with the line out the door and the one cashier totally confused. I don't mind paying their higher than average lunch prices but the food was not up to the standards of the other La Madeleine's I have dined at. The bus staff was rude and tried to snatch up half eaten plates. All in all, the enitre experience was very unpleasant. I won't be back.

MY REVIEW: I'm an occasional customer of the Sugar Land location, usually for a weekend breakfast. My most recent trip there was most unsatisfactory, mainly due to the aloofness of the staff. My expectation is for the people behind the counter to speak in clearly articulated English. I shouldn't have to ask them to repeat what they're saying before I can understand it. And, if the server person needs to get through the customer line to get to the kitchen, a simple "excuse me" would be appropriate instead of barging through.
Overall, these are fixable problems, and small corrections that would make dining there more pleasant. A good manager could correct this very quickly.

MY REVIEW: I was very disappointed with my first visit to this location. My advise is to avoid eating there during lunch time as it is fairly crowded and the wait staff are slow, slow, slow, and not very pleasant. I ordered a French Dip sandwich and was given a number to place on my table. Twenty-five minutes later my sandwich arrived. The waiter that was delivering orders saw me sitting there for the longest time but never came by my table to ask what I had ordered and check on my meal. When I did receive my sandwich, it was cold, had very lttle beef on it, and the amount of au jus I was given was not even enough for half a sandwich. The bread, however was quite tasty. Not tasty enough for me to go back, though. I give this restaurant a "D".

MY REVIEW: Sunday visit was disappointing because the service was poor and ambiance could have been better. The staff seemed unhappy with preparing the food, the cashier is "overworked" and made to prepare bakery, coffee etc. while people are waiting to pay for their meals. The bus staff (young male) has not been told that customers do not need to see his "red underware" when his uniform pants are sagging far too low. Just remind the staff that if they are disgruntled tell the administration and don't take it out on customers. All the customers appeared to be very cooperative and understanding that staff is poorly managed.

MY REVIEW: I have no idea why I dont frequent this place! It had been years since I went to LaMad & this weekend met some friends there. It was so good! Very reasonably priced also. I had the 1/2 cheese croque (grilled ham & Cheese sandwich) & a cup of soup & it was so good & only $5.64. Thats a bargain! My friends both had good looking things too-a Quiche Lorraine & ceasar salad & my other friend had the special of the day/month-a turkey sandwich on cranberry bread with pasta salad. The restaurant wasnt very busy-most people were eating outside-but it was a very nice atmosphere in the resturant & the iced tea was very good! There a few of these near where I live & work (Greenway Plaza) so I am definitely going to be going to La Mad more often! I cant wait to try the pot pie!

MY REVIEW: My wife wants to go there more often than I (this really is a chic place, as has been noted previously). Tonite we both got shrimp crepes with artichoke hearts. Gotta admit they were pretty good and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of shrimp. Also got potato soup and tomato basil. Both excellent, but too expensive. Seems like every time we go it costs $15-$17 each for an entree and cup of soup. This is cafeteria style, so at least you save a 15% tip. As we were leaving, we decided to get a couple pastries to go. That can be a long wait because it is a seperate register with only one person who tries her best to assemble take-out food orders as well as deserts and bread. The line I was in was 5 deep so the server was over-loaded. The manager finally came over to help, but by then everyone had been waited on. And I agree with some previous comments that servers in these cafeteria style places can be impatient, bordering on rude. Overall, the food is pretty good (a little pricey) but the servers on the cafeteria line could be more customer friendly.

The food is always good and hot. They have an excellent variety. The employees are always friendly and helpful. And you just can't beat all you can drink french roast coffee with free bread and preserves. It's a wonderful place to go and stay a while. And check out the bathrooms, the French lessons are a real treat!

MY REVIEW: Excellent! We love to go to la Madeleine every Sunday. We have tried most of the breakfast items, but also love the choices for lunch. The new sandwiches are fresh and made to order. My wife loves the crepes. Although this can be a very popular place after church, the service is still within a reasonable amount of time and the staff always seems to be on top of things. The managers often assist their employees and we even know most of them by name. Be sure to try the Sugar Land location. We have never had a bad experience there and don't forget about the amazing desserts!!!

MY REVIEW: I usually visit this place after church on Sunday's, it has been ok, but yesterday!.. it is true when what people say "when the cat is not around, the mouse just do whatever".. yesterday when February 4th, 2007. 8:50 pm, (I am writting the date to make sure something is done.), when I walk into the store, I noticed a young man that appeared to be the active-supervisor and another staff chatting with a couple people.. (no much to notice), I continue to the second cash register, because all I wanted was 2 cups of coffee, there was no one around, waited 2 or 3 minutes, looking around, no one to take my order. Then I went back to the entrance to find the same people I saw before, they were actually involved in a conversation and flirting with the two young women and seem that they did not want to be bother!!!.... rude, absolutely rude...!!.. I was finally noticed.. and taken to the second cash register. (the man in the blue shirt continue his flirting for a while).. I also noticed, he was rude, not friendly to other staff... Well, that was my experience.!!..

MY REVIEW: We were so happy to find a place open for lunch on New Year's. Cozy ambiance and the food was fresh, hot, and tasty. The tomato basil soup is always a winner! The desserts all looked yummy, too.
The free bread was stale, so that was disappointing.
Definitely a casual place to eat and a great place to study!

MY REVIEW: I go there very often, sometimes for luch, sometimes for breakfast, but usually just for their deserts. Not all their deserts are good, their tiramisu is just layers and layer of cakes, I can't even taste the cheese at all. I think what this restaurant appeals me the most is its atmosphere, very nice and relaxing. The food don't matter that much to me in this restaurant.

MY REVIEW: I have been to La Madeleine a number of times, and overall I have mixed feelings about it.
pros: * beautiful store and atmosphere * pretty good desserts and UNBELIEVABLY good cheesecake * you pay right away, so you don't have to wait for the check. I like that. * pretty good coffee with free refills * free unlimited bread w/ jam or butter * I have always gotten my food fairly quickly
cons: * STAFF IS RUDE: my order has been wrong several times, and each time the waiter acted really irritated when I politely pointed it out.. I once ordered a cheesecake over the phone, and the lady was really unhelpful. I asked her for a list of cakes they sold, and she gave me only a partial list. She clearly just wanted to go home. Is this just part of the authentic French experience?
* QUALITY HAS GONE DOWN: I've noticed the portions seem to be getting smaller on some items, and they are cutting corners in other ways. They make the fruit and yogurt parfaits ahead of time, so the cereal is soggy, when they used to make it right in front of you. If you ask someone for a fresh one, you will be treated as if you are asking them to donate a kidney.
* LONG WAIT FOR BAKERY ITEMS: if you just want a pastry, you will wait a loooooooong time for it. There is a separate register for the pastries and bread (as opposed to getting a meal). If you are buying something, or just picking something up, you will wait forever for it.
* PASTRIES WORTH IT? DEBATABLE: The pastries here are good, but the ones at Le P*etit Paris down the street are better, and the staff more courteous.
I will still go here from time to time for brunch, because there is not much of an alternative for this sort of thing, but I will no go as often as I have in the past.

MY REVIEW: Have visited this location many times (take out and dine in), and always thought that the food was great. UNTIL TODAY! AWFUL! The Nicoise salad was NOT FRESH (as advertised on menu), and obviously had been made the night before. Lettuce was wilted and the eggs were green. The soups were over priced and have been better in previous visits. The baked goods were also lack luster. Unfortunately, I have bragged to co-workers about the place and they were also disappointed. The take out cashier was over worked, service was slow, and she had too much to handle. Overall, a sad experience that NONE of us will soon repeat. IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE WE WILL THINK OF LA MADELEINE AS OUR FIRST CHOICE FOR DINING AGAIN! There are MANY restaurants in this area, our money will be spent at one of those.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxed, casual, and easy Saturday night dinner at la Madeleine. We arrived at 7:40PM and the restaurant was moderately busy with a few people in line waiting to order. There was apparently only one young lady taking orders AND making our salads, AND refilling the empty silverware containers, AND bringing out bread plates for the waiting customers. I also observed her delivering some hot cooked food orders to tables. The manager, in his red "la Madeleine" shirt, was at the register, and talking on the phone. Our tab came to $28.83 without wine, soup or dessert.
My food came out first, a chicken breast with mushroom sauce and vegetables. It was almost warm. My husband's food, a bowtie pasta with chicken in a cream sauce came out a good 12-15 minutes later (after one inquiry by my ever-patient husband), and it was piping hot. It was delivered by the manager and I mentioned to him that I was fearful that I would be completely finished with my food before my husband got his. The manager said not a word, turned quickly away and walked back to the register. Frankly, even a little "so sorry" would have gone a long way at that point.
I would like to tell you that my experience at breakfast a week ago at this same la Madeleine was a positive one, but I cannot. Two strikes (and a general down trend observed at this relatively new location) tells me that la Madeleine headquarters and management in Dallas need to get hold of this store. I've been a satisfied la Madeleine customer for more than 13 years, in Dallas and in Houston, so I know what to expect: Somewhat pricey but consistently good food that is appealing. I hate to see poor management ruin a sure thing. La Madeleine corporate, are you listening?
