MY REVIEW: I read the reviews on this site and decided I would give this place a try. I ordered the catfish poboy. It was okay. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a 6. I had to add a whole lot of seasoning and hot sauce to add a lil bit more flavor to it. I would go back again, and try something different. I was expecting a lot being that I'm from Louisiana. The people seemed nice and it was a nice quiet place to enjoy a meal.

MY REVIEW: Great comfort food: baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and jalepeno cornbread.... what's not to like? Cafeteria-style service ensures I get my food quickly.

The place is very causual and I'd feel comfortable in a suite or shorts. I'd definately recommend this place.

MY REVIEW: This is my first visit to Zydeco Diner but it will definitely will not be my last. We had the Catfish Poorboy which comes with french fries and also ordered the Shrimp Gumbo and jalapeno corn bread. Everything was delicious. The catfish was tender and well seasoned, the bread was soft and fresh. The gumbo was also delicious and flavorful. The jalapeno corn bread will now accompany any meal that I have at Zydeco's. It was very good. I'll be back soon!

MY REVIEW: I have eaten here since I began working downtown in 1996. I would tell you about the full menu, which i hear is great, but i can't pull myself away from the crawfish etoufee. It's like crack on a plate. Huge tails, creamy sauce with onions and spices, seved on a bed of long grain rice. Get the garlic mashed potatoes and cajun black-eyed peas and a piece of jalepeno cornbread to round out the meal and you will not go back to work! The staff will do WHATEVER it takes to make you happy, your guaranteed to leave with a full stomach and a smile! GO! NOW!

MY REVIEW: I have been eating at the Zydeco on Peace street since 1999. The ambiance is down home Louisiana. The meal is served instantly. The food is plentiful and tasty. The spice and flavors are combined perfectly for my taste.

Also, when my allergies act up or I have sinus congestion I can open up with a spicy meal without affecting my stomach, as the spice level is just right. My only complaint is that I don't live in walking distance.

MY REVIEW: This is true CAJUN (not creole) food. The chicken and sausage gumbo is perfect: thin, with no okra or celery, and very generous portions of chicken and spicy sausage (exactly the way it should be). The crawfish ettoufee' is the best I've had at any restaurant, including ones in Lousiana. Be sure to taste before you add extra seasoning because these guys get every dish JUST RIGHT!

MY REVIEW: Zydeco has some of the best cajun food in Houston. Being a true cajun myself I know good cajun food and believe me they know how to cook it. Their fried shrimp poboy is awesome. The real french bread is soft and buttered on the grill and the tartar sauce is great. Their gumbo is to die for. Keep up the good work guys! I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience real cajun food cooked the way mama did it!

MY REVIEW: Some co workers & I decided to order some lunch from Zydeco diner. This was the first time I had ordered from there. I had ordered the chicken & sausage jumbalaya with the green beans & broccoli cheese. This was very very tasty. I just could not help myself, I ate the whole entree in a matter of minutes. I would recommend this diner to anyone who enjoys full flavored food.

I am looking forward to visting & eating there very soon! I will also have to take some family & friends for the great food served.

MY REVIEW: As a native New Orleans, I went expecting Louisiana cuisine. I ordered the oyster/shrimp combination platter served with jambalaya. Jambalaya is not what was served. Call it more like the dirty rice recipe. It had a rough burnt brown gravy taste combined with pieces of meat that was not either beef or pork. They need to use the real jambalaya recipe or change their menu to say "dirty rice" That gumbo was the worst I've ever tasted. Did not have a seafood favor though they had shrimp inside. It was more like a watered down version of brown gravy with shrimp thrown in. This was not a good example of Louisiana flavor. The shrimp served on the platter were small, yet split so you don't notice that you're not eating but tasting shrimp. Would not return to this restaurant again. Something changed, because four years ago, this was the place to eat.

MY REVIEW: I've been going to this restaurant since the 90s and it is one of my favorite spots. I wish it was open for dinner! The etouffee is great and I have not had a bad meal. Green beans and mashed potatos are some of the best. I also love the very casual atmosphere.
