Hickory Barn Barbeque, The

MY REVIEW: Hickory Barn is as good, if not better than P*appas BBQ. They have great food and I have had them cater parties for me and they always deliver excellent quality and quantity. The price is great. Haven't tried their chili because I always go for the beef. Hickory Barn BBQ rocks!!!

MY REVIEW: Great Food! Great quanities! Great Prices! Manny needs to stop smoking below! some people are never satisfied! Hickory Barn can satisfy even those people. You would be stupid not to save their phone number in your phone. I like the chicken basket with a baked potato and a side enough food for the entire day. God Bless Hickory Barn!!

MY REVIEW: I was really happy to find this place. My favorite spots have shut down or are long gone. I grew up in Houston back when there was basically only pasture along I-10 between the city limits and Katy, before the malls and the Home Depots. Walking into this place and having a brisket poboy soaked in bbq sauce with a side of fried okra is like being home again. You just can't find bbq (and sauce) this good, and a place this genuine, in Houston anymore. I love it and hope it sticks around for a long, long time.

MY REVIEW: Our company has Hickory Barn cater most of its lunches throughout the year. The food is very good. The potatoe salad is among the best I have ever eaten. The pies.... especially the chocolate..... are homemade and delicious. Prices are great for the serving size. The marinated onions that are served in the self-serve area are ADDITIVE!! Great place. PS.... the chili is to die for.

MY REVIEW: It is close to work so we go there all the time. The food is good and cheap. Service is very friendly. and the even but on the World Cup so my co-workers could sneek out of work and watch last year. They are friendly with good eats.

MY REVIEW: I felt like I had to write this review for a number of reasons.

1) I have been a long time customer of The Hickory Barn.
2) It's a hidden gem.
3) The review by "Manny" below is just waaaaaaay off!

This place has incredible BBQ. Like other reviewers, I have never found anything I didn't like at this place. The brisket is always moist and not "pre-made" as Manny has said. It is smoked to perfection on site. It sounds to me like Manny is a very picky and finicky eater. Anyone who has an appreciation for how Texas BBQ is supposed to be understands that having a little fat in your brisket is not only acceptable, but very desirable, as that is where most of the flavor is. Texas BBQ is not for folks looking to eat lean and healthfully! The Hickory Barn serves BBQ like it is supposed to be... don't expect anything less! The only place that does BBQ better is my own smoker (I am a part time pitsmoking hobbyist) and obviously I am highly biased toward my own cooking!

Give them a try and you'll be hooked.

MY REVIEW: Our company used Hickory Barn to cater our open house for over 300 people and the staff did a great job, not to mention the food was great. My co-workers and I go to Hickory Barn at least once a month. The rib basket is my favorite. Lots of food for a great price. I highly recommend this place. The lines are long during lunch but do go quickly.

MY REVIEW: I love this BBQ---I live in dowtown Houston and I drive all the way out to Sugarland to eat here. They even catered my wedding. Their food is fabulous---the best is their turkey and fried okra. Dont pass up this place based on the looks of the building---its the best BBQ in texas!

MY REVIEW: This place has horrible tasting food. The service was nice but the food is just atrocious. I have been twice and both times the food was awful. The first time I tried the ribs and they were mediocre and they had no flavor. The second and last time I tried the beef po boy sandwich. The beef was immersed in a sweet sauce that had little flavor. The mix (beef and sauce) reminded me of pre prepared food that came in a bag and was heated up. The sandwich tasted like a BBQ sandwich you would get in high school. The beef (if that what the meat was) had lots of fatty pieces that I had to spit out into a napkin. I had a hard time keeping down what food I ate. I also had some sausage and the sausage did not have any flavor what so ever. I don’t know how this place stays in business. The reason may be that there are not any BBQ places near sugar land. It takes a lot to make me hate and despise a place but this place’s food did just that. I hate the food I ate and I will never go here again.

MY REVIEW: This is the best BBQ in town! Service is fast - no matter how long the lines at lunchtime! I have found no food that isn't absolutely mouthwatering. The BBQ sauce is just right - not too spicy and not too bland. I have had the opportunity to use the catering service, too, for a party of over 100 guests. The price is competitive, the service was prompt and exactly as ordered. Of course, the staff is so friendly. Every customer is treated as though he/she is a regular. You can't help but want to go back to Hickory Barn again and again!

MY REVIEW: This is some of the best BBQ in town! The ribs simply fall apart between your fingers, the chicken melts in your mouth, the brisket is always moist and tender and the links are very high quality. The sides are delicious, especially the potato salad and fried okra. The strawberry pie is wonderful when it's in season, but the chocolate cake is always sure to satisfy! Thanks guys for years of good food and even better company!!

MY REVIEW: We just found this place near where I work, and I has really good bbq. The prices are great, the ribs huge, and the brisket tender and moist. Go early for weekday lunch (about 11:15am) or you will have to stand in a long line.
