MY REVIEW: Service great. Food great. We really love the shrimp campecana and gumbo. However, and this is a big one, the same little "ice cream soda float" glass for campecana has now gone up to $11--way over priced for what you get and, for us, to eat there anymore.

MY REVIEW: My girlfriend and I LOVE this place. It is our favorite Sunday Gumbo spot. I consider myself a well traveled Gumbo lover and I place theirs somewhere in the top 3 (The Gum*bo Sh*op in N.O. is #1). The service is top notch! The bus service was amazing the guy was such a hard and efficient worker. Goode Company does such an amazing job of hiring people who WANT TO BE THERE! That goes so far in making the experience enjoyable.

Dont even think twice about enjoying ANY of the Goode Company places there on Kirby. They are an asset to the fine food in Houston. Keeping us one of the fattest (And happiest) cities in the US.

MY REVIEW: I was visiting in Houston and a friend took us to Goode's. I LOVED IT! Had the campechana which I had never heard of before. Wonderful! Had fried oysters with sides and everything was HOT! For dessert, had the pecan pie. One of my favorites and I would have to say it was the best I ever had. I have been checking campechana recipes online since my return to Maryland, looking for a good one to take to staff holiday party...and wishing I could visit Houston more often.

MY REVIEW: So, after seeing a FEW reviews bashing Goode Company, I felt the need to come to its' defense. First of all, with the exception of a few high dollar places, Goode Co is the best seafood in the greater houston area hands down. I have been a customer for over 15 years and I dread the day when I can no londer eat their food. Whats good there???? How about everything!!!! Although, I think their gumbo and grilled shrimp are my personal favorites. Anytime someone tells me they are new in town the first thing I tell them is to locate their nearest Goode Co and go as often as you can. Bottom line, all the Goode Co's are AMAZING - BBQ, Seafood, and my personal favorite - the Goode Co hamburger joint on Kirby and Westpark. Those are the best fajitas is the world. Also, Goode Co BBQ and Hamburger are two place that offer some of the best meals for under $10 you can find anywhere. Trust me, as a college student, I know. In closing, I swear on the bible that I give more of my money to Goode Co than any other restaurant group and you should too.

MY REVIEW: We were greeted very dryly and then seated! It was past 2pm and they were not busy---the waiters conversing behind the counter. A server brought 2 glasses of water and the waiter approached(Michael) and we asked for 2 glasses of Iced tea-- and a lot of lemon while we perused the menu. He left and came back with a bowl of lemon and no tea. We awaited for his return to take our order and I asked for tea once again before we placed our order. He brought the tea and we placed our order and asked for the side dish of seafood rice instead of Fries---well he brought the dinner out with fries---we didnt complain- we were busy talking so we finished the overpriced meal and tipped according to the service----waiter didnt pay attention when we ordered---they were too busy killing time with each other---the food quality was ok. We won't be returning to eat again.

MY REVIEW: Very slow service, had to ask several times for refills on tea. Food was luke warm when it was served, and the portions were small. Prices were on the high side for what you get. Based on my last visit to B*abin's in The Wooodlands, B*abin's is a better choice for seafood.....

MY REVIEW: I just moved to Houston and asked a local where to go for good seafood. He laughed and said, "This is Texas, would you like that boiled or fried?" Thank goodness for Goode Seafood.

You wouldn't usually look for seafood at a dining car, but Goode is no ordinary seafood place. Great causal atmosphere, with limited parking - take advantage of the valet parking which the waitress tells me is free. If you like your seafood boiled or fried you have that option, but goode also serves broiled, grilled and some stuffed entrees.

We started with a shrimp and corn salsa appetizer served with tortilla chips after seeing it served to another table. Served in a large parfait glass with generous portions of lump crabmeat and shrimp, you could easily tell that this is made fresh. We couldn't even finish it as an appetizer but continued to sample it throughout our meal. Surprisingly, there were even chiop to spare after we had eaten all the salsa.

Our entrees included a grilled redfish topped with lump crabmeat special and shrimp etoufee. We chose the squash side with the redfish while the etoufee was served with seafood rice. The grilled redfish was tastiest along the edges where the seasonings balanced well with the fish. A generous portion of lump crabmeat nicely complimented the dish. Unless you really like squash, I would recommend trying a different side dish. The shrimp etoufee is highly recommended. Not too spicy in the roux, the etoufee contained over one cup of perfectly cooked shrimp that matched perfectly with the seafood rice. The dish was too large for me alone and my dining partner happily consumed the 2/3rds that I couldn't finish.

I typically have no problem saving room for dessert, but tonight was an exception. I was way too full after appetizer and entree to even think about it. Goode will definitely become a local favorite.

MY REVIEW: Absolutely YUM! Very good, very tasty. The only thing I don't like about the place is that it looks like those old diners in the movies. Other than that, it's just the best. Between all of us, we tried almost everything on the menu, and nothing was bad.. Everything was great!!! I will be back!

MY REVIEW: I have been going to Goode Company Seafood for 15 years or so...my kids were weaned on it. Simply the best, most consistant seafood you will ever have. Musts: Shrimp campachana...hush puppies with the remoulade...mesquite grilled flounder and shrimp...da gumbo is second to none...when in season, the crawfish bisque will make you cry.

MY REVIEW: This place is great, and i dont say that about very many places. The food is absoloutely excellent, everything is fresh well prepared all in a timely fashion. The service is great and the atmosphere is casual. Pictures of the owner and his fish everywhere. One of my favorites in Houston and those are few in number.

MY REVIEW: The lady at the front desk of my hotel said she recommended these guys to some other guests the other night and they came back and said this was the best seafood they had ever had. Thinking "yeah right" I stumbled up the street a piece and I'll be damned if they weren't kidding!!!!! The Campenada is a thing of beauty. They'll let you sample so don't be bashful. These guys love making customers happy. If I'm ever within 100 miles of this place I'll find a way to get there. If anyone can help me track down a recipe for those Campenada's I would be forever in your debt!

MY REVIEW: Great grilled section. My mom and I love the Catfish con salsa verde, and we always get the shrimp Campechana. WOW, it's fabulous. Sometimes the place is packed, don't be shy to just eat at the bar. It's actually more enjoyable to us.

MY REVIEW: My first visit to Goode Company Seafood was good, but not remarkable.

The experience started when I walked in the door and was somewhat rudely "greeted" by an annoying, gum-chewing, 19-year-old (or so) male with slick hair and baggy jeans. However, once seated, a far more pleasant lady waited on me.

The first impression I had after sitting down and taking in the scene was that of a 1950's american-style diner, complete with grey and white tile (floors and walls). The layout is a large U-shape (horseshoe-shaped for you Houstonians) where tables are situated along the outer part along the wall, and stools along the inner bar-style part. I personally don't like this diner-style atmosphere, but it isn't all that bad. Fortunately, there are fish pictures on nearly every blank space on the walls, giving something interesting to look at.

I started off by ordering an import beer, which came cold and with a large mug. Fortunately, the beer was served still in its bottle-- the glass was dirty with obvious food particles on it near the rim. I did not complain about the mug, but rather drank from the bottle. I informed the waitress (I wish I could remember the name, a very pleasant lady) that it was my first time and she explained how things worked and a summary of the menu. Eventually, I decided on the Mesquite-Grilled Salmon entre, though there were many other fishes and dishes I wanted to try (reasonably good selection of fish, when compared to most other Houston seafood places I've been).

The quality of the entre was good, but not great-- especially considering the cost ($15.95). The salmon steak/fillet was roughly 6-8 ounces, mesquite grilled, and fairly tasty-- the highlight of the entre. It was served with "seafood rice", which tasted much like a mexican-style rice, with a few small shrimp thrown in. The rice was reasonably fresh, not hard as if it had been sitting for too long. Also included was a small piece of garlic bread. Finally, there was something (which I can't remember the name of) resemebling a small "pie" for lack of a better word. It is essentially a dough pouch filled with a southwestern-style seafood and vegatable mix, and probably fried (though it could have been baked, I'm not completely sure).

Finally, I asked for desert but declined when I learned they only had two dishes-- either Pecan Pie or Chocolate Cream Pie (both happen to be ones I've never liked). So I can't comment on the deserts, other than I wish they had more variety, or at least (say) a simple apple pie. One last thing to mention-- go to this place 20-30 minutes before the rush, because it becomes quite crowded and noisy.

Overall, I give the place a "medium" rating. The strong point is certainly the mesquite-grilled fish selection, but enjoyment is offset negatively by somewhat high prices and a diner-like atmosphere.

MY REVIEW: Goode Company Seafood on Westpark is my favorite place to eat fish in Houston. You can get fried fish anywhere and it's all the same, fried. Drop it in a vat of oil and wait a couple of minutes; it's the same wherever you go. But if you want a taste sensation for the soul, you have to try it mesquite grilled. No one grills fish like Goode Company Seafood on Westpark and my favorite thing to eat there are their mequite-grilled po-boys. You can't find a better po-boy in the city limits, dare I say, the state! Combine their po-boys with a side of fries, grab a seat at the bar and enjoy. Their margaritas are some of the best in Houston and they pack a punch! Goode Company also serves the most amazing seafood cocktail. It's called Campechana, it's served in a tall glass with chips. Share it with a friend!

For really good grilled fish, try Goode Company Seafood on Westpark. Their po-boys can't be beat!

MY REVIEW: I've been many more times than 6 but no one knows my name - I love this place! I came online looking for the campechana recipe - it must be secret! This is a wonderful restaurant with good food, laid back atomospere, and great staff! My favorite is seeing you at the rodeo and knowing that I can have my favorite - even there!

MY REVIEW: While on vacation in Houston, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The mesquite grilled shrimp were fantastic as were the catfish and snapper that my family enjoyed. The vegetable of the day was Mexican squash. My husband gave this a 10. I enjoyed the red beans and rice and the shrimp gumbo. I wish I could have brought a gallon of the gumbo home to Illinois with me. We did manage to share pecan pie which was the best I"ve ever eaten.

MY REVIEW: My experience at the goode company seafood restaurant over all was pretty bad. The waitstaff, particularly Alberto really doesn't believe in service with a smile and obviously doesn't care for tips that much either. The French fries are probably the worst I have ever had. I think that they "re-use" other peoples leftover fries. However, the fried oysters and fried shrimp are ok. In the future I'll be willing to dish out the extra cash to go to a better seafood restaurant, like P*p*'s.

MY REVIEW: I think those of you who gave this place a bad review are out of your mind. I cant think of a better seafood restaurant in Houston. P*ppas on Kirby is pretty good, but this stuff is the real deal.

I was just reading the reviews for suggestions today and I think I am going to go today and try the mesquite skewer, I will let you know how it was.

Enough has been said about the campechanas, the poboys are definitely awesome - hushpuppies are interesting (made with pecan) - try some next time.

BUT PLLLLLLLLLLLLEASE, dont let these people discourage you - Jim Goode's Seafood House is a Houston legend. It is a staple in my diet.

MY REVIEW: I hadn't been here in a few years and wasn't disappointed that they continue to serve delicious, fresh seafood. This was a lowkey birthday celebration and we wanted only to have a grand meal with good service. Goode delivered.

We intended to split their huge seafood cocktail but were seduced by jumbo crab cakes. Jumbo could describe either the lumps of crab or the size of the cakes. Best crabcakes we've had since D.C. The lemony mushroom sauce was so good we ordered bread to not waste a drop. They were so filling we scratched gumbo off our list and went straight to a mesquite grilled red snapper and trout. The seafood rice side was very flavorful (we guessed cooked in fish stock) and full of shrimp. The red beans and rice were good and spicy with the rice on the bottom, not stirred in. This should have been enough but we split a slice of firm, moist, pecan pie. You know it's good because they call it Goode Company pecan pie. That certainly should have been enough but we retired to the bar for a few martinis and chat with other customers. Highly recommended.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I discovered Goode Company Seafood when we moved into a house down the street. We never would have known about it otherwise, and we would have missed out! The smell of mesquite-burning grills meets you as you cross the parking lot into the restaurant. The decor inside isn't much to look at, but you don't go for the ambience. You go for the food! The campaneche appetizer is out of this world, with huge pieces of crab and shrimp combined with a spicy salsa and avocado. It's like a saucy ceviche, and it's to die for. The mesquite grilled seafood is prepared to perfection every time. My favorite is the skewer, which gives you a sampler of all the seafood they have in that day. My husband loves the red snapper.

It's crowded, and their small bar area can make for an annoying wait, but we always just tell ourselves it will be worth it. We've never been disappointed!

MY REVIEW: The gumbo is exquisite and the fried oysters are always good. For cajun style seafood, the Goode company is probably the best in the city. The pecan pie is a wonderful desert. No complaints and I have been eating here for ten years.

MY REVIEW: We started going to Goode Company Seafood when it first opened up. Anyone else remember the "honor system" beer in the coolers in the waiting area? That didn't last long. The food was always fresh and delicious, no matter what you ordered.

Anyway, my wife and I decided it had been too long between visits so we decided to check this place out again.

Mistake!! She got a broiled flounder dish, I got the fried platter and a Campechana appetizer, which contained shrimp, oysters and a kind of pico de gallo in a red cocktail sauce. The kitchen probably had to go out and replace their supply of oregano after our meal, because every item we ordered had an overdose of oregano in it. almost to the point of unedible. My french fries were lukewarm and after getting the waitress' attention, were replaced with fries fresh out of the fryer. We both mentioned to her of the over seasoned food, and her reply was that was the way it was designed.

We both decided at that point this was the last time we were going here.
