MY REVIEW: We went here because we have always received top service and excellent food but NOT this time. We went with another couple and we all ordered the Prime Rib. When it arrived I could hardly cut it with my knife let alone chew it. All four orders were horrible. I sent mine back and the manager returned with another piece of meat that was almost as bad. He even said that the meat was tough and obviously all came from a bad cut of meat. My margarita was mostly crushed ice! I don't know whether this restaurant has changed ownership or what but the decour also lacked the usual atmosphere. Our seat had a huge tear in it. Also, we were the only ones sitting in the back part of the restaurant and they decided to close down that salad bar. The girl who closed it down made all kinds of noise. Seriously doubt that we ever go there again as it's not worth the risk of another horrible evening!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe they even charged us for the meals after they acknowledged that the meat was less than it should have been. We took it back to feed to the dogs!!

MY REVIEW: Our first lunch visit to Steak and Ale at Katy. Love the place. Feels warm and welcoming. The place provided a quiet lunch which is such a nice break from the loud noise of other restaurants. You can actually have a nice conversation without trying to raise your voice. The steak and shrimp were delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We never had to ask for refills for our drinks or bread.
We will certainly return for dinner with the rest of the family.

MY REVIEW: We have been going to Steak N Ale for special (and not so special) occasions for over 30 years. I think it would be fair to say, 125 times. NEVER have we had a bad meal or sub-par service. I miss the sexy outfits the servers used to wear..and the menu on a large chopping knife. Other than that, you can always depend on Steak N Ale....it is especially nice in the winter when they have a cozy fire going. Hubby likes the lobster....I get the Kingsington Club..can't resist it. We usually sit in the bar where it is more fun, but when it is our anniversary, we sit in the main dining area. Always a good time or romantic evening to be had at Steak N Ale. It has become something we can depend on in this erratic world. Thank you guys........(and bring back the hot guys in the Tom Jones Shirts...lol)

MY REVIEW: I was very dissappointed with my visit to the Steak and Ale Restaurant . After we were seated on our table, we waited 28 minutes and we did not get any service. We were very hungry. We just walked out. At the exit, we complained to the ladies in front of the restaurant. They offered us to talk to a manager, but we were too upset to talk to anybody else.

MY REVIEW: I have visited here several times and up until a couple of days ago I have been very happy with my experience. We had a gathering of 8 people in our party. I and another person ordered the "Jumbo" stuffed shrimp. I have ordered this dish several times, however this time I received 5 shrimp (30-40 count size) covered with some type of fluid style dressing over a bed of rice. It wasn't what I had received in the past. I asked the waitress about the order and she said she was new and didn't know anything about that entree. I finally discovered that the cook was also new and didn't prepare the dish right. Bottome line.... I didn't send the dish back but asked for a doggie bag and I took it home and trashed it. My friend who also ordered this dish sent his back and got something worse.
The AC was also not operating and it was fairly warm in the place. The waitress said that she couldn't do anything about the temperature (and naturally so).
The service was extremely slow (not that many people there at the time either). We entered at 6pm and didn't get out until after 8:30pm because of the extremely slow service.

MY REVIEW: We are regulars because we feel like we get a good meal for a reasonable price. We often try the specials from the paper. We especially liked the shrimp-chicken-steak combo. Always a cordial, relaxed place to dine. The Kensington Club has been a favorite for twenty years.

MY REVIEW: Today was not a good experience with my first visit to the Conroe location. The server was less than competent in answering questions about the menu, and failed to ask one of our parties whether they were ordering an item from the Early evening or regular menu. Furthermore, refills were slow on the drinks and he had to be prompted a couple of times. We had to ask for an additional place setting once the salads arrived as well.
Food was mediocre. The baked potatoes were not done and the steaks were not very tasteful. Almost like eating cardboard. For the desserts, the portions lacked in comparison to the other fine restaurants in The Woodlands area.
The last punch came when the server brought the bill. An automatic 18% gratuity had been added. My rule of thumb is that a server receives 15% if average, 18% if evertything is pleasant and no stumbling occurs and then they will receive 20% or greater for outstanding service (this includes with a Smile, interacting with the kids, not asking dumb questions like "is your food good?".
Therefore I deducted $1.68 from the bill and noted on the check that this was for a 15% gratuity only. (total bill paid was $81.00).
I learned later forom another party leaving at the same time that the server had the nerve to walk out into the parking lot and write down our license plate as we were leaving. He ought to be glad I did not spot this action.
As a result, Steak and Ale Conroe, and probably chainwide, will not be receiving any further business from my family and friends. S*alt Grass and O*utback, here we come again.

MY REVIEW: Never had a bad meal here, or bad service. Thanks to the economy, we don't dine here as often as we used to in order to help strech the cash flow, but there was a time we dined here every single friday night for nearly a year. The kensington club (medium well, thank you) is actually one of the best steaks I've ever had. The wait staff is always friendly, and the manager, John, would always come by and greet us. Besides that, they have a rockin' salad bar ... Fat Free Raspberry vinegarette dressing ... dah'ling to die for.

MY REVIEW: Took some clients there for lunch. Service was fairly good. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. As a vegetarian, I probably won't be back, but if I have clients who ask to go I will definitely take them here for the ambiance, service, and food.

MY REVIEW: Entering the restaurant was unpleasant because the odor is bad, smelled like old stinky carpet...a garbage-like odor. There were only two of us, and while we got there early to have our pick of the place, they chose to seat us in a back room, in a corner. The room was very warm as if the air conditioner was off, and was unpleasant enough that we asked to be moved. The Manager sent word that the A/C had been turned on and the room would cool down shortly. We had walked through two empty "cooled already" rooms, but she wanted us to wait for the room to cool down.
The food was good, but unless they correct that foul odor upon entering the restaurant, I will not go back.

MY REVIEW: This is a restaurant I used to love then forgot about. We have been going about twice a month for the past few months and we have never had a bad experience. The food has always been wonderful and the service better than average to excellent.
My favorite is the grilled chicken pasta, but I had the ribs last night and they were wonderful. I don't expect every visit to be perfect as I know "stuff" happens. But we have yet to have a bad meal there and will continue to dine there.

MY REVIEW: Hands down the best steaks in Houston and surprisingly inexpensive. Nice seating with leather chairs and tablecloths. Easy access from just about everywhere.
Great salad bar but they've got to do something about the veggies. Same with every dish... a half cooked tastless mix.

MY REVIEW: This restaurant offers a very good meal for the price. I always order the Kensington Club and salad bar. The personnel realy try hard to make you visit a pleasant dining experience. I just seem to forget about this place since there are few locations in Houston.

MY REVIEW: That was my first and the last experience with Steak and Ale. We were a group of 9 coworkers and none of us liked the food. It arrived 30 minutes after ordering (instead of 15 as the menu promised)and my soup and entree were served almost at the same time. The soup lobster bisque was pretty good, however, my pasta with the tomato sauce and alleged basil leaves, the presence of which I had not happened to notice tasted worse than the frozen dinner from Kroger. Plus the cook has no slightest idea as how to cook pasta al dente. I had a couple of bites and that was it.
The service was ok, a little slow, but the waiter was nice and sweet. I will never go back.

MY REVIEW: Since I rarely heard about this restaurant, I thought they are just so-so. However, they are better than I expected. The mixed grill special was good. All the grilled pieces, medium rare sirloin, skewered shrimp and grilled chicken were done just right. Some places can over dry shrimp and chicken. The rye bread and the butter was good and warm. The only weak point was that the waiter forgot to mention the dinner special. But that night the rain was very hard and caused few second black out. Apparently that affected the orders in the computer and the kitchen. She was probably get a bit flustered over the whole thing.

MY REVIEW: The usual menu has hamburgers and other lower priced entrees now... not good if you are looking for a quite atmosphere...kids with hamburgers is not what you expect of Steak and Ale. Dishes were not cleared...had to lay them on the floor. This was at the Hwy 290 location. The bread was good ..at least one positive. Don't Go There!!!

MY REVIEW: This place is certainly one of the better places around. The service is exceptionally friendly and good. The ambience is great with the pleasant interiors and dim lights. I had Hawaiin chicken here and it was splendid. Also the self-service salad bar is full with all kinds of salads and dressings. I could have eaten salads to my fullest had I not been ordered my main dish. I shouldnt miss telling about the discount cards that they give. Everytime you buy a dinner at their place, they give out a discount card. Collect 5 such discount cards and on the 6th visit you would get $15 worth of anything free!
Bon Appettite!

MY REVIEW: I was disappointed. The lunch menu stated the food would arrive in 15 min. or less. How about 25 minutes. The bread was hard and cold. The waiter had to be asked 2 times for additional butter, drinks were not refilled until we were ready to leave. At the table next to ours, I observed the wrong steak being served to a man. He cut this steak and dipped his fork and tasted the sauce when it was discovered that he was given the wrong steak. The waiter took this steak to the customer at the next table!!!!! I was SHOCKED!!!! We told the customer what was done and the waiter argued with us. Even the man who originally got the steak said he tasted the sauce and cut the steak with his fork. Overall I am really concerned about this Steak and Ale. I have been going there for 20+ years and over the last few months the atmosphere is not the same and service is below quality!

MY REVIEW: Excellent service. Kensington Club steaks were done exactly as they should be. Thick, creamy blue cheese dressing on the salad bar. Crisp salad greens and lots of toppings. Even a great chocolate birthday cake. Have been dining here for 10 years and always a nice, quiet place to have dinner or lunch. The only thing that should be changed is the color on the outside of the restuarant.
