We arrived at 11:15 and were quickly seated. Our server, Chad, came over and offered water and took our drink order. He returned quickly with the drinks and then DISAPPEARED for 15 minutes. There were plenty of servers just standing around, two were chatting with the hostess, three were standing at the bar...no one could be bothered to bring us chips or take our order. Finally, as we were about to toss some cash on the table for drinks and get out, a manager brought us chips and apologized. When Chad finally returned, he took our order but got the queso order wrong. That was quickly fixed and a manager appeared to apologize, again. Next, it took 45 minutes to get our food. Now, did I mention that the place was DEAD? It was...and it should not have taken 45 minutes to cook beef/chicken fajitas and cheese enchiladas. Chad brought the food, said, "Everything look ok?" and left. He did not return once during the meal, which was unacceptable since there was something horribly wrong with my husband's chicken. It tasted as if it had been boiled. After we ate, we sat around waiting for Chad to bring the check. When he did not materialize in another 15 minutes, I went to the hostess stand to ask for it. The hostess looked confused. "The server will bring your check." I said, "I don't know where he is--he's been gone a half an hour." A manager came by and we told him of the troubles. We are big Pappasitos fans and just feel this was an awful experience. The manager only comp'ed the queso and half of the fajitas. I felt we deserved a little more since the service was so awful. Will have to reconsider future visits to this old favorite. The Chicken Fajita Taco Salad was excellent; however the Beef Fajitas for Two was only average. The beef was mostly OK, some strips were a little tough. Very few grilled onions and no grilled peppers at all. I agree with the previous reviewer that a platter for two should include double portions of the guacamole, pico de galo, and sour cream - especially for $32.90 (that's right; $33 for fajitas for two!). Service was poor; not once did we get a chips, salsa, or drinks refilled without having to ask for it! Why did we have to ask for each and every refill? Will probably not return anytime soon for their fajitas (outragiously priced for what you get); however we may return for the excellent taco salad and other entrees. Lived in Austin, Corpus, Brownsville, etc & Better Half is Chicana; so know what is good or not. Must be variability among locations. We had one OK meal but the others were excellent. Fajitas well seasoned and NOT OVERCOOKED, tasty & tender. Everything very good to excellent. I do not understand others' complaints, as our experiences have been wonderful. Visitors from Mexico & Guatemala have been amazed on quality of offerings here. Pappas' run a good shop. Don't see how one could go wrong here. Note: fish tacos is not a Gulf Coast specialty. "Campfire shrimp" is a great dish. "Tableside" guacamole is great. Homade tortillas always fresh. Try this place. The waiters keep the wonderful tortillas and chips n salsa coming. Just dont think we get enough guacamole when we order the fajitas for 2 which should be 2 servings of everything not just rice and beans. The guacamole is excellent and since the meal is really for 2 then they should give you a double portion of it. Cheese is extra and I really feel it should be included and there are never enough grilled onions! But the food is excellent so we put up with the loudness!! The chicken is soft as butter and the beef is excellent also! We will be coming back!! Our waiter was very quick and helpful. We didn't have to ask again for anything. The food was exceelent as usual. When we walked in I asked if they still had a smoking section and they said no they did not.....you could only smoke in the waiting area outside. We wanted to sit outside and I noticed there were ashtrays on every table........what was this?.....no smoking outside....then take the ashtrays off the tables. Personally I understand the no smoking laws inside the restaurants, but when you sit outside I thinks it's ridiculous to enforce the no smoking law. We will continue to go to Pappasitos...we like the one in Sugar Land. I have to agree with the reviews that the one on I-10 isn't as good. Pappsitos has the BEST FAJITAS of any restaurant. Their salsa BEATS any we have ever had. Keep it up Pappasitos......you are THE BEST! It took an hour for her to get my food, that ended up being cold.When I asked for the check, she came back ten minutes, later and said crap because she totally forgot about our table so she ran back to go get the check. The manager was nice about it, but still this would not be a good choice to eat at. The food was decent at best. The desserts are average. The atmosphere is okay for a large group of people. The place is freakin' good. The fajitas are to die for and the chips and queso is the best in SE Texas. You pay for what you get... Great Quality Food. I LOVE this place. So stop with.... "I was in the area shopping for machup and decided to go to Pappasito's for dinner on a friday night. We could'nt find any parking around the restraunt and had to park in Timbuktu. After the Batan Death march to the entrance we put our name on the list and were told that it was a 45 min wait. The place was packed and after 46 minutes we were not seated. I know like what an atrocity right? By the 48th minute we were seated in the common area with all the other people. The chips came out after 2 minutes and our waitor was an jerk bc he was over worked and had like 13 other tables. The food came out after 20 minutes and i was pissed off about that to. Even though I enhaled the food and practically licked the plate clean, the waitor came with the check and they actually expected me to pay for this garbage. I reluctantly paid for the food but showed them by not tipping the lowsy SOB waitor and asked for the manager." Seriously quit it people. They're food is amazing and much fresher than the one on I-10. You have to try their pineapple pico de gallo, it is delicious. Some of the servers are sluggish, but there are many who enjoy what they are doing and make your visit priceless. I don't love how they price their food, but it is worth it. Oh, and their chocolate sponge cake with cinnamon ice cream is to die for! My husband and I have been going here for dates ever since we were high school sweethearts. You will for sure love them, the wait is not bad, the atmosphere is comfortable and fun, and their food and drinks are to die for! Margaritas were too tart for my liking. When the food came, they messed up the fajita order (wanted beef, they sent beef and chicken). They were real nice and gave us an extra order of beef for no cost. But they kept forgetting to bring us tortillas. We asked and asked and they finally came after the meal was over. The spicy beef nachos were good. But the service was poor. Besides the order mixup and no tortillas, we could not get anyone to fill our water glasses. Is this normal?? You people who say that the food is OK don't know what's good for you. You cannot find fajitas like Pappasitos anywhere. They truly are THE BEST. I have never had a problem with service, and if I did it's probably because they were new wait staff. Of course there's a wait for seating, it's Humble and it's crowded and everyone has the same idea as you. So go sit at the bar and have one of their awesome, fantastic margaritas. Again, you can't find these anywhere. Since leaving this town, I crave Pappasitos and rave to everyone in Tennessee how they're missing out on the best Tex Mex. The Mexican food here is horrible, you should be so lucky to have Pappasitos whenever you want. I went in with my kids and was expecting to have a difficult time. We were served chips and drinks right away, and the server even brought them a couple of dough balls to play with. Great idea! I was able to order right away and the manager even came over to chat with us for a little while. The dinner prices are a little steep, but it definitly matches the quality and service provided. I did notice that the lunch prices are extremely reasonable and I will certainly be coming back again, maybe for the great lunch prices. :) The bar looks like a fun place to hang out to have a margarita and watch a game or something, too. We hadn't eaten at a Pappasito's for about a year or so, so figured it would be a treat. We were seated almost immediately and almost passed out when we looked at the menu. Prices had increased to a level of El T*iempo's. Used to be you got a pretty good value at Pappasito's; no more. Wife got the Agujas plate. Full rack of ribs (we always take some home for later). Came out on sizzling platter alright, but had three measly, thin onion slices. The Superior plate is still good, but not for 15$. Sum up; the food was still good, but a bad value. Next time we'll drive further into town and go to El T*iempo. Their salsa cannot be matched. I brought a container home with a meal I was bringing to a son-in-law. He left part of it, so the next morning I cooked grits, added grated cheddar cheese, and two big dollops of the salsa. It was fabulous. Wish we could buy the salsa, I believe I could eat it on ice-cream!! Our service was great, and the food came soon, waitress was excellent. We live in Beaumont, and we are already planning a trip back that way just to eat at that Pappasitas.
