MY REVIEW: This is the best pizza in town, period. I have been coming here since 1983.....& I just Moved back & took my boyfriend there for the 1st time. He could not stop talking abou how fresh the ingredients are and hit if off with the friendly Antonio himself. First, I must say that "southerner's' are too sensitive..rude, abrupt service you say????[in some reviews].

These folk are from New york OK!!??? New york Italians in Houston = the most authentic pizza this city will ever see !!!!...They are not rude...what I consider rude are waiters in your face every 5 minutes asking if everything is ok & bringing your bill before you ask for it!!! That means they are more worried about turning tables for tips than customer satisfaction...and Antonios would not have been in business for 30+ years if they are "rude" as some people claim they are!!! CHEW ON THAT!

MY REVIEW: When I check everybody knows my name they really do. I read comments of the hostess being rude. Antonios Daughter is far from rude, I have been going there for 8 years now the first 7 of those twice a week for work lunch. Antonio and her are always couteous and we laugh and tease. I used to call in a togo order and they would know who i was just by the order I would get 2 words of the oprder out of my mouth and they would say Hi Jereme. I under stand I made a lot of trips there to get that "status" but the first time was even better. The food is so good I tip the dough guys behind the counter more than I tip the waiters. We since moved offices and Antonios is brought up in lunch conversation at least 5 times a week. All of us in our company employees from highest to low miss that place. We find ourselves once a quarter during lunch all packing up and driving clear across houston to eat there. Every client, friend, family we have ever taken there has LOVED IT. Yes the waiters dont carry a converstaion with you, they believe in you are there to eat not chit chat with the staff. Antonio runs a tight ship there, with the quality of food being priority. As far as the prices what comparison are you using the local pizza shops by my house in Cypress cost the same or more. You cant compare "mom and pop" prices to pizza h*ut which is by far horrible!!! I also am begging them currently to host my wdding rehearsal dinner there.... In the "mafia room" no it is not really it is just a room in the back for extra seating or large parties, I have since i was young called it the mafia room. Yes I agree the waiters dont come to you as a chipper 18 year old wanting to tell you their life story but if you talked to them they will have converstaion. They are not as cold as everyone here makes them out to be. Same with Antonios daughter she is a sweet heart and if you just talked to her you will see a smile!!! she is shy from what i can tell. Also most of us think everyone in the world works a 9-5 job 5 days a week. No Antonio and his Daughter are there before open to way after close 6 days a week. That can take a toll on you, and you see this a lot in small family business. All the dough is made on site not frozen and shipped to them. I recommend this place to anyone. If you want the chipper service of a CHAIN resteraunt then this is really not the place for you. As said in another review it is OLD SCHOOL! my mom ate there for her senior prom. My boss says that was their hang out in 1971. The place has History. I dont goto restaurants for the interior design i go for the food. Yes the place is something stuck "in that 70's show" but if I want a resteraunt to look at i will goto the aquarium.

MY REVIEW: We opted here because we couldn't get a table at M*aggianos. To my glee, the pizzas really did fly across the kitchen! We were there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday with his parents. The house salads were okay and the mozzarella sticks were amazing! I ordered a regular pepperoni pizza and oh it was so quite yummy.

Atmosphere: family friendly -- slightly cheesy and outdated 70s, and not romantic by any means.

Go for the pizza. I tried the others' pastas...okay I guess.

MY REVIEW: I have been going to Antonio's since they opened. Still the BEST ITALIAN FOOD in town. Still the BEST PIZZA in town. All of these newest reviews by crazy reviewers about how bad the service is, and how the salads cost 3 dollars now should take a look in the mirror and see if they're not just cheap, rude, and unappreciative of this place's 30 plus years of amazingly consistent FRESH italian food. This is a very small, old school, AMAZING FOOD establishment. Just give them their 3 dollars for a salad and be happy that places like theirs still exists. Small places like this need support from good people. They're always nice to me because i'm nice and appreciative of them. As for complaints about Antonio's family, give them a break. That family has so much integrity and respect for food and good people. LONG LIVE ANTONIO'S FLYING PIZZA.

MY REVIEW: Food was great.

Sevice was horrible. Payback came around to bite our waiters in the butt when it came to their tip. I want to go back but don't want to take the chance in ruining my appetite with bad service. A little expensive for what you get, package (service/food/ambionce)in all considered.

MY REVIEW: This was our first visit. Initially we were put off by all of the negative reviews of wait-staff at b4-u-eat. I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviews however regarding the staff. Despite it being a very busy evening our waiter was kind and available whenever we needed assistance. The food was excellent and I believe that this will become one of our frequent haunts. If you want a casual, family friendly dining experience this is a wonderful place to eat.

MY REVIEW: still the best italian food and pizza in town and everyone we take here loves the food...unfortunately service has gone way downhill...used to get a salad with every meal and now it is extra, used to be that your water was refilled after a sip and now you are lucky if you get a water refill at all without having to ask, most of the waiters are rude and seem like they would rather be somewhere else and hostesses never have a smile on their faces...the food makes up for the service though and hopefully tony will read this and make a change in service...not in food!

MY REVIEW: We have been going to Antonio's since the early 70's. Yes the prices have gone up but then again who hasn't. Without a doubt the best Eggplant Parmigana or Eggplant sandwich I have ever had. I have tried many times to find some that even come close but no luck so far. The bread is so wonderful, hot and crusty. True the hostess are not always too pleasant but who cares we are not having dinner with her she is just seating us.

MY REVIEW: Everyone would know our names if they would actually take an interest in their customers. The "hostesses" (Antonio's daughters?) are consistently rude and unfriendly. They seem very bitter to be working there. The wait staff is okay, but not really friendly. Antonio's seems to try to be an at home Italian place, but the staff is failing miserably.

The food does, however, counteract the staff mishaps. Over the past 7 years, the consistency has been excellent! Everything on the menu is good. We're a bit disappointed that the meals don't come with salads anymore, and at over $3 to add one now, we often pass. This has remained our spot for an Italian fix. A serious staff overhaul would make customers come back much more often.

MY REVIEW: The service was fine- got seated by a friendly hostess, waiter took my order and brought me my iced tea promptly. Ordered a ham and pineapple pizza and it was bland- mostly crus, not much on taste. I was born and raised in NYC and then moved to CT where there are 2 unbelievably great pizza places in New Haven. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur. This was disappointing, expensive for Houston, and I will not try again.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I used to eat at Antonio's at least once a week and about a year ago the food quality went down and the prices went up so we just stopped going. Last night we decided to try it again. Food was good although they have raised their prices BUT the service was horrible. The waiters used to be like family when you went in and they seemed to work together. Our waiter took our drink order, ice water and iced tea, took 10 minutes to get it to our table. Then took our food order and it came out in a timely fashion BUT then we didn't see him again. I asked 3 non smiling, grumpy waiters if they would get our waiter and finally afer 15 minutes our waiter showed up. When we were done eating we sat our empty plates to the edge of the table and all the staff just walked by, looked and kept on going. They used to have someone watching the tables and keep them cleaned off and/or whatever waiter would walk by would grab the empty plates and get them off the table. What happened to the happy, family atmosphere? The old days of friendly, smiling, accommodating waiters is gone.

MY REVIEW: This is my second visit. My first was in February 1978. Yes, that's right, nearly 28 years ago! I don't know why I haven't gone back, but I just hadn't. This time, though, I enjoyed it, I really did. I'll be going back. Count on it!

MY REVIEW: I discovered this place by word of mouth as most did with discerning tastes in Houston...because you'd drive right by it every time otherwise. WRITE THIS ONE DOWN HOUSTON--THERE IS NO BETTER MARINARA, ANTIPASTO NOR PIZZA IN THIS CITY! There is no tougher judge of pizza and pasta than I....even tougher than my New Jersey Italian husband. It just doesn't get better. Even the rolls are fought over in this place they're so good.

Will you wait for a table? Yes. Will it be the cheapest meal in Houston? No. Is it worth my 30 mile ONE WAY trip twice a week to get there? EVERY SINGLE TIME. Those of us who are most demanding and "in the know" already know about this one! Guess it's time you should too. Heck, it's already crowded. But you'll be spoiled and intolerant of all the others who "play" at Italian.

(They're so good they can stay closed Sunday and Monday....and I hate it!)

MY REVIEW: After moving to Houston from Indiana, we were in deep search of a place to get great pizza. About a month ago we found one place, and figured that's probably as good as it's gonna get. However after driving past Antonio's on the weekends and really wondering what it was like we decided to stop. After seeing how crowded it was, we knew that it had to be "somewhat" good.

When we stepped in the door, pizza dough was coming at us. Now that was a sight to see, and I can see how and why Antonio's got their name. We got carry out that night, because there was a nice wait to be seated. Once we got home and tasted the pizza it was amazing. It wasnt all extra greasy like some of the places, and there was so much cheese (the way a real pizza is made). So far they are the best that we have had. We will be going back there really soon. :)

MY REVIEW: Some co-workers recommended this place and they were on point! The pizza is very good. Lot's of cheese and made just how you want it. I tried a veal parmigiana po-boy and OMG.......... was that good!! One of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Will definitely be going back for that po-boy. It was certainly crowded. Definitely a sign of good food and service.

MY REVIEW: BEST PIZZA IN HOUSTON! MAYBE ANYWERE!

Antonio brings together everything that makes a pizza wonderful.

The perfect scratch made hand tossed crust, the oh-so-authentic sauce, the premium Italian cheese and fresh toppings. Try half and half such as - REAL Bacon and Bell Pepper or Anchovy or any of the classic tops.

And don't forget to start with the cold, crisp Dinner Salad served with the best hot, crusty rolls this side of Italy.

By the way - this is where we had our Wedding Dinner - this place is full of love! Ciao!

MY REVIEW: Dont listen to any bad reviews about this restaurant. The food takes a bit longer to prepare because the food is fresh and each dish is prepared individually. The pizza is simply the best in Houston, without a doubt. The marinara sauce, meatballs, and pesto sauce are some of the best I have ever had.

Antonios remains one of the only authentic Italian establishments in Houston. It is still family owned and operated and a great place to bring your kids to watch the pizza pies being tossed. The decor is like stepping into the 70s...red and white checkered table covers, pictures and postcards from Italy decorating the walls. Always a great choice for lunch or dinner, but they are closed Sun and Mon.

MY REVIEW: After passing this place by many times, I decided (as a true fan of pizza) to finally give it a try. On my first visit I made a pick-up order for a pizza and chicken parmegiani. Like a previous reviewer noted, they prep the pizza twice, they only complete the baking when you arrive to pick-up. This interesting tactic did not seem to diminish the pie in any way. I would rate the pie at 7.5 or 8 out of 10. The toppings (italian sausage, mushrooms) were perfectly cooked. The sauce was deliciously sweet, I would have preferred if they were a little more generous with it on the pie though. The dough was soft, slightly springy to the touch, and baked to golden perfection. I believe they make thin crust pizza only, which is fine by me. All in all one of the better pies I've had in Houston (and I've tried most of them). The chicken parmegiani was ok, but nothing special. I confirmed on second visit that the pie's are consistently good, so I will definitely be visiting this establishment more often. General details below:

Food: Pie's excellent. Great ziti. Decent menu selections.

Ambience: Cross btw NY style bistro and Italian restaurant. Good mix of clientele. Looks like it has potential to be a swinging spot depending on time of week.

Wait Service: Never had a problem, but havent sat down to eat yet. The owner is a pretty friendly guy.

Location: Hillcroft of off Westheimer. Parking seems barely adequate, but theres lots more at the intersection.

MY REVIEW: I heard about this restaurant from Mix 96.5, and since it was close to where I lived I decided to check it out. I came in around 9:00pm and everyone there was so nice! I guess I'm so used to eating mediocre Italian food, so that's what I was expecting. Not here. The food was really really good. I was really impressed with the pasta dishes and the pizza. They also had cannolis, which i've never found at any Italian restaurant. I think the restaurant closes at 9:30 or 10:00pm, but the waitor was still very pleasant throughout our visit. I'll definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: Against my better judgement, I decided to give Antonio's a second chance. BIG MISTAKE. Food is overpriced for the quality/taste, service is deplorable, tea refills unexistent, the wait is unrealistic, and the hostesses are the biggest *itches I've ever met.... perhaps they should try being Dominatrixes instead.

I ordered a sandwich with a house salad, blue cheese dressing. After 25 minutes, the waiter came with my salad with ITALIAN dressing, and when I pointed out his mistake he had the audacity to ask me if I was sure of what I had ordered. Another 20 minutes later he came back with my salad, but I was on my way out. NEVER AGAIN !!!!!
