MY REVIEW: i was told by my husband that Doneraki's was fantastic. I read the different reviews .it was on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was nearly empty. It was my birthday, and he ordered the DONERAKI ESPECIAL for 2. i ordered a sangria margarita,we ordered chorizo flamedo for appetizer. The resturant was very clean.

The appetizer arrived hot and fresh. the tortillas were homemade, flavorful and hot. it was ssoo good. the main course was fajita meat, grilled chicken, shrimp, sausage, steak strips and onion. served with more hot tortillas, more than generous guacamole and salsa, then had flan. the food was fabulous,we both ate all we could, had enough leftover for dinner the next night! great place! we are going again already. i eat mexican food often,.this is the best.!

MY REVIEW: The fajitas were reheated and tough, the guacamole was slightly brown and the pico was partially frozen. The rice was mushy and broken with a lot of big pieces of bell pepper and the tortillas were raw! The service was horrible at best and when we complained the waiter just nodded and then took almost 15 minutes to come back. We kept asking for our waiter and the people just kept nodding then disappearing. The waiter showed up and gave us the ticket then took another 10 minutes to return. Asked for the manager to complain and we were told he was NOT available. The only good thing was the margarita I ordered but then when I saw how much it was I should have eaten the ice that came with it to make it worthwhile.

MY REVIEW: Great food and great service! Everyone who works here is always helpful and nice. The waiters always have good recommendations if you ever want to try anything different. I go on Fridays because of the Live music and dancing. The top shelf Mercedes margaritas are the best! If you go on a Friday, make a reservations!! Best Mexican food in town!

MY REVIEW: The food was decent but the service was HORRIBLE! We had to wait and wait before they finally brought us chips. They forget some of the food but the waiter didn't come back to check on us until we were practically finished, a good 20 minutes. I won't be back. There are too many Mexican restaurants with better service.

MY REVIEW: Pleasently surprised with some new items on the menu. They also serve queso for free now. I was a bit nervous as there was not a lot of people but I am so glad we went! The service was fantastic too!

MY REVIEW: The 1960 location is by far the best! I adore their food and the margaritas are amazing! The staff is always nice and accomidating and its always a fun place to eat! I reccomend the fajita nachos, enchiladas, and taco salad. I recently tried their mexican chicken soup and it was super good! Love this place!

MY REVIEW: I hadn't been to Doneraki in a few years and decided to try it again for the Thursday half price fajita combo special. We usually go to El P*atio but the parking lot was too full. All in all,Doneraki's was great. Good service, not crowded, food was good..meat was tender, good tortillas and sides and a great value. I can't speak for the other menu items but really enjoyed the fajitas. Will definitely start making this a weekly habit.

MY REVIEW: Normally, I love Doneraki. I've been going here for years. Last night was my first experience where I was slightly displeased. My advice is to stick to the "tradidional" parts of the menu. I ventured into the "specialties" section with the carnitas and was disappointed. I know that carnitas is not a specialty dish in Mexican cuisine, but it is considered a specialty on the menu. It was very dry. And I didn't feel that I got enough of it. I got full, but mostly off the beans, rice, and tortillas. I had 5 pieces of meat, which sounds like a lot, but they were very small in size. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with this dish. But everything else was as delicious as usual.

To sum it all up, Doneraki is one of my favorite restaurants...but skip the carnitas.

MY REVIEW: Donerakis is by far my favorite Mexican food restaurant. Not only are the food, drinks, and derserts amazing, but the service is always fantastic. My favorite things to eat there are the green enchiladas, Victor salad, or fajita nachos. Everything is always super fresh and tasty. Its also a really fun place to eat on the weekends because they have live music.

MY REVIEW: Sunday brunch was crowded, organized chaos describes it pretty well. But *everyone* was polite, enthusiastic and helpful. The buffet line was about 40 feet all in all. And probably at least 40 items from pretty standard empanadas and tostadas to tongue (lengua) and a very rich chicken mole.

When I asked about rolls (because the serving station was empty) the owner himself brought them to our table.

Don't miss the hot chocolate!

P.S. The owner says the Fulton street location reopened 2 weeks ago. We'll try that next week.

MY REVIEW: I've been going to Doneraki's for close to 15 years and at first, I absolutely loved the place. The chips are made in-house and are cooked long enough to make them good. The salsa is heated which makes it better and has a good flavor that is not too much 'raw tomato'. The food is classic, good Tex-Mex if they go to the trouble to get it right. I stopped going for more than 2 years because they service got to be terrible and the food quality dropped. I tried Doneraki's again last September and it must have been a good night because the food was excellent and the service was too. I've been back twice since then and both times the food got worse. The service was bad the second time too - There were only about 3 tables with customers and all the employees were sitting at the bar watching the Olympics or just talking with each other. The food had been prepared for hours and simply reheated and served to me. I will go back again but only when the restaurant is busy so the food will be fresh. If it is fresh, it will be excellent. I can put up with sub-standard service for great Tex-Mex!

MY REVIEW: We visited the Westheimer Doneraki's and the food was good but the buffet food was okay,it wasn't all that interesting and flavorful. My sister ordered a dish from the menu then the waiter returned after some minutes and said they ran out of that dish. Then she ordered something else from the menu and her dish took about 30-40 minutes to get to our table. And by the way this place is incredibly crowded.

I think I would rather eat at Mama N*infa's next time. Honestly,to me I think buffets are only good for Indian and Chinese restaurants.

MY REVIEW: I have heard that this place is the best around. So on my birthday we decided to try it out. I ordered the fajita special for Wed and my wife ordered the dinner plate. The salsa was good, very spicy, which kids did take to kindly. They brought out the charra beans, which were very very good. And they brought out my wifes appetizer taco and CCQ. Overall it was OK. The fajita protions could be bigger, and the meat could be a little more tender. I would take a bite out of the fajita and the meat would pull all the contents out of the tortilla onto my lap! I have had much better fajitas than these. Ontop of that they only gave me 2 tortillas. Kids had the fajita nachos, they were pretty good. Everything was mediocre of another strip mall mexican restaurant. Nothing special and surely not live up to all the hype.
